When was it stated that she prefers woman? I know it was confirmed by Sheryl Chee for Isabela, but I don't remember ever hearing it from Leliana or someone else.

Though, I guess Marjolaine could serve as an obvious sign.

I could be remembering wrong but I remember someone saying in the old Leliana thread that the dialogue option that leads to Leliana saying I love you was supposed to be femwarden exclusive. Obviously Leliana's dialogue is bugged to hell and the option often either showed up for everyone or no one. I'm at work so I can't look it up, and it's possible I'm remembering wrong... Very sleepy probably shouldn't be working. I'll try to find it when I get home.

Anyway the only time I thought that Isabela might prefer Lady Hawke was in MOTA. If you flirt with Tallis in the cave she's oddly possessive over Lady Hawke, "She likes rogues, Riviani rogues" other wise I always felt Isabela likes both pretty much equally.

So... Leliana was originally not suppose to love my male warden?  :crying:

And he tried so hard!

Remember, Leliana doesn't love any of our Wardens and is a spy who's playing them.  She just assumes the 'love' crap works better on females.

Why is that? I only really felt that way for a bit when the desire demon was tempting her with the crew. That was pretty het up until the point when the desire demon said she would be waiting for her in the captains quarters.

I really don't think Isabela cares; if she prefers anything it's elves.

Isabela will sleep with anything that is alive and willing, period. Leliana is a little pickier. :)

IIRC, she talks about men more and (with what we know) has had more sexual/romantic experiences with them.

I wouldn't say it's a large preference one way or the other.

I wish I could have romanced her with an elf.

It's a hunch. I got the same impression myself. Never thought that deeply about it, though.

My view is gender doesn't matter to isabela at all. It's indicated there's features of elves(fenris eyes for example if i recall correctly) she finds attractive but those are not only features that make someone attractive to her. I find it rather disturbing that people want to deposit her in a certain camp personally.

Isabela makes a lot more references to male lovers than female, for what its worth. The husband, Zevran, a male Warden (potentially), male Hawke (potentially), some crew member who rejected her authority after they had slept together, a dwarf in drag, some apostate mage she met in Denerim, Fenris (potentially).

For females there are Fem Warden, Fem Hawke, a general reference to female lovers, and Leliana. (potentially)

My take on Isabela and Leliana is that both are bisexual with Isabela having a slight preference for men and Leliana a slight preference for women. Of course maybe that isn't what the writers had it in mind, but that is the impression I had of them.

Isabela has a few lines that make it look like she's more fond of female Hawke. After their first night together, she tells Lady Hawke that she wouldn't mind doing it again, while male Hawke doesn't get anything similar. Also, in MotA dlc, she'll get jealous if Lady Hawke flirts with Tallis in the caves, but will only laugh if male Hawke does the same.

I'll admit, I first romanced Isabela like...a few months ago.  I'm an Isabela romance noob.  I only took the Freshman course 'Isabela Romance 101' and you all probably have a Ph.D. :P

I love that Leliana is bisexual.

Sure she obviously prefers the ladies, but still, I love my Lels bi.

Don't start that again. She's easier to start a romance with if you're male, so the notion that she "prefers" ladies doesn't hold much water.

oh wow I mean I knew about the MOTA thing (posted it earlier) but I didn't know she doesn't tell mhawke that she wants to do it again.

Anyway past experience that we know about doesn't really mean squat. I prefer women myself but I'm far more experienced with men because they're way easier to get for a fu... Fun time

[DA]: You mentioned that he is one of three advisors. Does Cullen get along well with his peers?

[BB]: Cullen has a lot of respect for his fellow advisors. Of course, that doesn't mean they always get along. For example, Cullen is a practical person who appreciates a straightforward, honest approach. Leliana, who has worked behind the scenes for the Divine for years, won't come at a problem the same way.

I just realized something disturbing. To my knowledge, one can play MotA and see Leliana there as an agent of the Divine in Act 1. Which means that Leliana has been at this for about ten years... and given the way the timeline works, it seems almost certain that her trip away during Awakening led to her promotion. And that makes me wonder if she was lying to the Warden about the purpose of her departure, or if her love was ever important to her at all; her claim that the Warden is "dear to her heart" rings a bit hollow.

Dorothea wasn't even the Divine until 9:34. She said in her letter she was going to see the Grand Cleric, who could very well have been Dorothea at that point. So I don't think she lied to the Warden about any of that.

Frankly I don't see her being in act 1 making a hell of a lot of sense.

It's possible that she was acting as an agent of Dorothea before she was the Divine, in that case. Either way, she appears to have outright abandoned the Warden shockingly early.

Wait, her going on a mission is abandoning her love?

Couldn't it be possible for the Divine to say send a letter with false reasons for needing Leliana and once she arrives divulges the real mission?

Well, taking a new job that involves bouncing around Thedas without any sort of notice to the Warden whatsoever is fairly horrible.

In any event though, I still choose to believe the epilogue in Awakening, where Leliana and the Warden met up again for a bit and continued on their journeys.

Hell, maybe the Warden accompanied her for some of her 'work.' If you play a Dalish Warden, Merrill does say she 'swore she saw Mahariel the other day' after all. :S

I don't see it this way.Same way Morrigan can love the warden dearly but dump him because well she has really important things to do.

I mean the warden also doesn't give up his/her duty to follow Leliana around in the name of love.

Leliana didn't abandon the Warden anymore than they abandon her by becoming the Commander of the Grey.
