So in the new trailer that was released there is a segment that shows a Grey Warden fortress (perhaps Weisshaupt?) being attacked, on closer inspection we can see that one of the soldiers attacking the wardens has the Inquisitor helm.

http://www.youtube.c...outu.be&t=1m25s

So ideas on what the wardens are up to that necessitates Inquisitor intervention?  Perhaps its just a place holder image or an example of what we can do.

But I'd like to hear ideas regardless

NOTE, this thread is not for discussing the Grey Warden companion

It's revenge for Ser Jory. The Inquisitor is his nephew.

The moment the Inquistior killed a grey warden my heart broke into thousands of little pieces and I wanted to cry

Damn, I didn't know I could get this attached to some fictional order

i can't wait for this game!

its not weishaupt, we will not be going to the anders... more than likely its the adamant fortress...  as for attacking them.... we may not have to, remember they said some allies you have to lay siege to if you cannot bargain with them.... which tells me that we have the option of doing so

I'm assuming we don't *have* to siege the Wardens, but who knows.

This isn't the first time the inquisition's been shown attacking the grey wardens, the fire's above trailer, one of the game informer videos, and this one. It could be due to any number of reasons like Coreypheus, the first warden targeting the Anderfels kingship and making up rumours about a blight, farming red lyrium, working with the antagonist etc or it could be a combination of many different things or factors like us deciding to attack them if we have a choice in the matter.

The last flight should shed some light on it combined with the grey warden companion, the fact we can investigate pretty much everyone we may learn some really dark secrets about them.

As for where, there's a couple of fortresses in Orlais, Adamant which was in Asunder and shown in one of the game informer videos or Montsimnard which has some ties to a lot of thing's like the masked empire, Vivienne, where Loghain was sent, some of the other books, where the head quarters of the orlesan wardens are, Jader, or the ones in Fereldan, Vigils keep, Soldiers peak.

Who knows, it's hard to tell at this point.

They've been deconstructing the Warden mythology since after DAO.

Maybe even before that.

There could be any number reasons to attack them. Or Gaider will invent a good one. I hope so.

Again, i hope the reason for conflict with them is political rather than Corypheus. Id rather the players decision conflicting with the wardens agenda to be the reason for this war if it could be called that

the last flight should reveal quite a bit to us...  its one of those thats about a story years in the past but uncovers secrets in the present...  So they gave us the mage v templar story with asunder, they gave us the orlesian civil war with TME, and now we get to find what the wardens are up to in TLF....  I sense a pattern here

My guess is that it has something to do with Corypheus

Either Cory or it could be politically motivated. The Wardens just might be hanging out with the wrong crowd.

yes, its called the last flight it comes out August 12

The Grey Wardens are heroes across Thedas once again: the Archdemon has been defeated with relative ease and the scattered darkspawn are being driven back underground. The Blight is over. Or so it seems. Valya, a young elven mage recently recruited into the Wardens, has been tasked with studying the historical record of previous Blights in order to gain insight into newly reported, and disturbing, darkspawn phenomena. Her research into the Fourth Blight leads her to an encoded reference scrawled in the margins of an ancient map, and to the hidden diary of Issenya, one of the last of the fabled griffon riders. As the dark secrets buried in Isseyna's story unfold, Valya begins to question everything she thought she knew about the heroic Grey Wardens. . .

Maybe it's because the fans like the Grey Wardens, but every trailer they're the enemies getting pwned. their saposed to be the best of the best, not like an army of redshirts.

Someone a while ago mentioned that that fortress could be the Adamant(wiki it if you haven't read asunder) and actually made a pretty compelling case for it. So assuming this is the same fortress as in the fires above trailer, heres my theories. First, the grey wardens tried to retake the fortress from the demons(probably because of something to do with their super secret business) and failed. So now the inquisition steps up to retake it because the grey wardens asked them to or something, it would be part of the inquisition proving themselves to the grey wardens. Now here's theory number 2, Cory. This guy cant be dead, so im thinking hes alive and affecting the grey wardens somehow.

thats just how badass your original warden was...  he could fight off armies of darkspawn where normal men struggle to kill one... and then said normal men can kill regular wardens.... thats not irony, but its something hillarious

I've wondered the same thing - if it might not be an issue of whether or not the Inquisitor decides to ally with the Wardens, or oppose them over the clandestine issue that was eluded to in Dragon Age II.

This!

I'm also going to throw something out there, but maybe attacking the Wardens is (partially) dependent on whether the Warden-Commander chose to kill or side with the Architect? Perhaps the Inquisition learned of it and weren't too happy (although I personally don't know how that would tie in with the Fade tears and whatnot).

I wonder how the Wardens we actually know are going to tie into this. Nathaniel, Oghren, Hawke sibling, (potentially) hell, our own Warden too I guess. I don't think any of them really had much knowledge on what the higher-ups of the organization were doing right from the beginning.

Still not sure where the Wardens got enough people to go to all out war by themselves though, so I think something is up here.

Would lol so heartily if they bring our Warden into the frey and force us to kill him/her. Essentially replacing your Shepard Warden with the writer's own save for the appearance, as the plot dictates!

God, honestly, I am so sick and tired of deconstructions these days. People know how to disassemble a concept until its unrecognizable, or perform enough character assassinations on a group so they become villains. Brilliant. Can you actually make something worthwhile, though? I'm really, really hoping that there's a good reason to fight the Wardens, and that you're not wiping out the Order wholesale or something like that. Then again, considering how they wrote Anders in DAII, I'm less than confident they can pull this off.

Hey, it is quite possible this is how we will meet our Warden. Perhaps we will meet them, exchange a couple of neutral phrases and it will seem like a badass clash of badass PCs beginning, but then suddenly the tower gets destroyed and Inquisitor falls down so we get only a glimpse of our Warden. Enough to satisfy, not to disappoint
