I hope it's because of Corypheus and/or The Architect, and something to do with DA:LF.
It's gonna be epic!

Or The Inquisitor needed that Fortress and the Grey Wardens just happen to be in the way lol.

The most recent trailer depicts a Warden-Commander being directly attacked by our Inquisitor.

I am slightly uneasy (but not convinced) that it may be our Warden that has been corrupted, twisted or even possessed in some way.

Having said that, I am aware that it could be any one of a number of Warden-Commanders dotted about Thedas - depending on which Keep is being attacked.

I do find that scene particularly compelling, countered with the disappearance of our Warden and Hawke.

Oh dear, I hope the Hawke sibling isn't involved in whatever the Wardens have done! I know they can be a bit devious, but I still question the judgement made to attack them.

Just because we have to fight them doesn't necessarily mean that they will die, it could be like when you had to fight Bann Teagan in Origins and the fade traitor in II.

Do you mean possibility of possession?

It's just a random Warden in a heavy armor and griffon helmet. Not necessarily the commander.

Speaking of which, most of them seem to be wearing exactly this (judging by the latest and first trailer)... ah, how I wish these armors were available in Origins. :P

As evidenced by the keep dlc in DA:O wardens are not necessarily above politics, or taking a hand in things outside of Blights.  It is entirely possible that these wardens have placed themselves in a political struggle which our inquisitor must untangle.  We also know wardens are not always overly concerned with morality, so if a population is being victimized because a group of wardens find it beneficial, an inquisitor could step in.

Pretty much. Our Warden has built quite a reputation in the series and I doubt he would get killed in such a cheap and lazy way like a generic grunt. Smacked in the face from a guy who is halfway off the ladder. :D

Crap, Think its the Montsimmard Wardens they fighting in Inquisition...Loghains stationed with the Montsimmard Wardens, great oppotunity for a Cameo, I sure as hell ain't killing him though. Bethany/Carver are based in Ansburg in the northern Free Marches so its unlikely they will be involved...Unless they are in Ferelden/Orlais for some reason

That particular set with the extra plating around the stomach and the Winged Helmet is actually the armor of A Warden-Commander.

Are you sure? The only time I've ever seen it being referenced as the commander armor was in the imported mod for Origins (and that was fanmade).

Otherwise, the codex for Regalia of Weisshaupt doesn't say much and I've also seen it on one of Janeka's Wardens, so I doubt it's exclusive only to the commander.

The opportunity for a cameo is strong. Loghain's cameo, I mean. It would be very easy to do: for example, if he's alive, the character has to fight a Warden Loghain. If he isn't, the Inquitisor has to fight a normal Warden-Commander or Warden-Constable.

Sort of but more like they're beguiled and you need to kick their asses to knock some sense into them or something like that.

True The Grey Wardens are badass but they are not unstoppable. Even the strongest Grey Warden can be overrun by a large group of enemies.

@ Augustei

Fiona didn't abandon ship so to speak.  She was cured of the taint.  She spent many years at Weisshaupt because the Wardens couldn't figure out how she was cured of the taint; they studied her.  Once she leaves her child with Maric she tells him she is returning to the Wardens for this purpose.  There was really no reason for her to remain with the Wardens once she was cured.  She was an Orlesian Circle Mage.  Prior to that she was a slave to a powerful Orlesian Noble who keep her chained up for his nefarious purposes.

However, Anders did abandon ship to rescue his real love interest Karl from Meredith.

I don't expect much more than a cameo for him

I'd love for him to appear in the game. I wouldn't even mind if killing him was an option, it's just not an option I'd take. But being forced to kill him...that could well be a deal breaker for me.

I have one warden who allowed him to redeem himself.  I guess it will depend on why the Inquisition is fighting wardens if I kill him or not.

There are other ways to show that the Inquisition is badass than by having them fight the wardens.

Now I know people's opinion on the wardens varies, but speaking strickly for myself, having me kill off something I love is not the way to endear me to this new faction.

No even if there is a good reason to fight them? Like if they are doing something morally questionable?

If doing something morally questionable was an actual reason for starting wars Thedas wouldn't know the meaning of peace.

Based on what we know the Inquistion's job is to restore order to Thedas, and that will probably involve getting our hands dirty.

That would depend, they could easily be going too far and thus why the Inquisition would have to sep in to stop them.
