From the new trailer i take it all races and classes gonna have same background story?,no multiple backgrounds to choose from like in DAO?

I remember them mentioning something along the lines of the race of your character is what makes the origin story, but the whole being the only one trope thing is a common thread between them. I think the origin choices where lost along the way when they put in the racial options.

Not exactly, same origin then yes, same background then no.

When they brought back the different races they completely scrapped the different origins in favor of having a singular origin for everyone that changes somewhat depending on what assigned background we get when we choose our race and class. When they got rid of the origins they detected the backgrounds/character backstory and combined it with the races and class to a degree.

When we create our character we will get a mass effect style background( paragraphs like what the spacer, war hero, sole survivor looked like) to tell us where we came from before, then we will have the veil tear opening sequence which will be effected by our pre set background, a dwarf will not be at the opening sequence for the same reason as a human inquisitor and so on.

Each race has different reasons for being at the opening sequence, they will also have varied reasons for being allowed to take up the mantle of the inquisitor, we will have different concerns and motivations based on our races and backgrounds according to the devs.

While we can't choose our backgrounds we do get to choose aspects of it and decide how we relate to it, and the other stuff I mentioned over the first couple of hours of the game, after we get made the inquisitor and reboot/ restart the inquistion all of our background stuff will be set.

One last thing it's not like the other games in terms of actual content since according to the devs it's beyond anything they've done previously and has way more content then the origins and backgrounds of the previous games.
