So according to the new website www.dragonage.com (Check it Out!) we know all the class specializations.

Warrior:

  • Champion: "Champions are defenders and protectors, and when a warrior trains in the champion’s tradition, he or she becomes unstoppable. Champions use their armor, weapon and awareness to shrug off incoming attacks while holding critical positions on the battlefield and protecting allies in the process."
  • Templar: No Description Yet.
  • Reaver: No Description Yet.

Rogue:

  • Artificer: "Intricate mechanisms are the core of the artificer’s craft: Deadly traps; Distracting contraptions; Marvels of engineering turned to deadly purpose. If an artificer is standing at the far end of a seemingly innocuous stretch of the battlefield, you should find another path. If he or she is smiling? Best just to hope your affairs are in order."
  • Assassin: No Description Yet.
  • Tempest: No Description Yet.

Mage:

  • Knight Enchanter: "Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks."
  • Necromancer: No Description Yet.
  • Rift Mage: No Description Yet.

I'm mostly intrigued by Knight Enchanter for the mage, spells Arcane Warrior to me!

Interesting that you were able to lift that.   I'm guessing that Necromancer will be the blood mage specalization for DAI.

I wonder if we're going to be allowed only one specialisation or if we can do dual specialisations?

According to the website, just one specialization out of three.

Looking awfully Nevarran to me... Nevarran mages are necromancers if I remember, but blood magic could be involved.

Most blood mages we met in DA2 had summoned corpses to fight alongside them, so It's possible!

Thanks! Missed that, but I just glanced at it.

To be honest, if they make each spec more in depth than previous games, id encourage only one choice per character, it would imply better/more usage out of the specs and it would add "replayability" to the game

Rift Mage sounds like it could be unique to the Inquisitor. Interesting...

I'm surprised that we won't be able to be a Blood Mage this time... All three specializations sound cool though. So glad the mage melee build is back, full mage party incoming!

Glad to see that there's a 'neutral' specialization for Warriors again, i.e. the Champion. I kinda missed that in DA2. Knight Enchanter sounds interesting, and so does Artificier.

Anybody got any ideas on what the Tempest might be? Sounds like it could be focused on speed and movement, in contrast to the stereotypical stealthy, high-damage Assassin? Dunno, just guessing.

Though I still prefer the name over Knight Enchanter lol

I do consider Necromancy to be a Blood Magic derivated discpline. Cool but creepy.

Summoning spirits is based on the Spirit school of magic, blood is not required.

Beside, health do not regen remember. Make it hard to cast spells using it has a mana without killing yourself real fast.

Not exactly spec-related, but in the new trailer (at about the 1:17 mark) it appeared a DW rogue Inquisitor was able to use a similar mechanic to the grappling system we saw in the PAX demo...but in reverse.  Instead of the warrior drawing enemies towards them, the rogue pulls themselves closer to the enemy.

It may have been that particular suit of armor, as well, but that particular Inquisitor looked quite lean and I couldn't help but wonder (though it appears to be a human Inquisitor in the trailer) if it were just possibly an elf?

new is always good. I am fond of the balance philosophy. Old and New can co exist if done properly.  Some specialization can go together but some can't. I can't see a Templar of the Chantry willing to become a Reaver due to the Blood Magic involved but I do see them might becoming either a Champion or a Berserker. Reasoning for the Berserker training, to use aggression to overwhelm Abominations in battle and Reasoning for Champion to bring focus and leadership to the group.

Most of the time Necromancy is about reanimating dead corpses and manipulating death, not spirits.

You know this sounds about right. Being a Blood Mage would be tricky if you can't regen health and have a limited supply of potions.

But blood magic also performs the same thing.

Blood magic doesnt always require your blood but i can see a mechanic that allows your to regen your health if you use BM

I suspect Templar will still focus on hitting mages in ways that keep them from magicing so good.

Hmm, interesting.  I am not a fan of Knight enchanter, but then again I have never been a big fan of what appear to be cross classes.  Like the more traditional fighters at the front mages in the back, but that is just my personal preference.
