Specializng warriors is ignored by the masses as usual

It might have to do with the fact that the specs are the same as the past (though Champion seems different from DAO), while rogues and mages got two and three new specs.

Mundies are boring.

For you.

KOTOR had a great mechanism for this. BASH! Of course you can loose items, but hey, can't loose what you didn't have! Revan smash puny footlocker.

Revan miss puny footlocker a few time because those lockers have evasion rating and armor. Looks freaking hilarious.

But ye, I agree, we should have bash ability.

I like the sound of Knight Enchanter. Sounds like a new kind of Arcane Warrior, and i loved Arcane Warrior in Origins. So im happy about that.

The Warrior specializations look disappointing. They're the same ones as before, except for the best one Berserker. The only specialization that made the warrior class fun in Dragon Age II. Hopefully they completely over hauled these. I could see Reaver carrying over some Berserker.

Berseker/Reaver worked greatly together, if you choose well the talents (the upgrade to barrage that reduced the damage taken is pointless in this build). Though it was useless against the Arishok.

From the description of it Champion is now a defensive spec rather than a buff/debuff spec like it was in Origins, so it sounds like it's been pretty significantly overhauled.

Other than that I suspect the others wont change much

The specialisations do seem interesting to me. I'm very curious about them. But what I'm more curious about is: a) how soon do you choose a specialisation... is it from the beginning? Is it a certain point? Is it a quest?

And how the rest of the talents/abilities/etc breakdown...are there going to be options for your character outside of your given specialisation? I'm very curious about how they're going to allow you to create your builds.

Very good questions.

I will be interested to see how complex the classes are.  DA2 was a little simplistic for my taste.

Champion is really cool to me, it sounds like they combined the defender one with it as an actual tank specialization which sounds really really awesome to ke because I love tanks. Since they said people will react to reavers more, I am curious about how they will be portrayed. In the past very little has gone into them, Also all three games now you can play a Reaver but it has had no companion and nearly no in game context to tell us exactly how it works and effects you.

I honestly believe if more was given on Reaver it would become more popular.

Also really curious if Templar means we actually are Templars for once.

I hope that with the fact that we can have only one spec they extended then talent trees to include more abilities.

Agreed, and perhaps a bit more. They mentioned having non combat abilities, which I am really psyched about. Imagine being a templar and sensing magic and disrupting it in your surroundings.

Having specs having effects and consequences outside of combat would be great, but I woudn't hold my breath about it.

Everything was useless against the Arishok...except kitting.

I once spend many minutes bringing his health down just for him to drink a potion and be right back up. I got tired of that and reduced the difficulty so my bow rogue could actually kill him (and the cutscene showed a dagger-rogue doing the job, lol).

I need to replay the game with a warrior to see how it goes, it's my least favorite DA class by far and it's strange, because I usually play warriors in my cRPGs.  I really loved the mage in DAO and DA2, but the class specializations for DAI have me a bit meh. The rogue looks to be the most interesting right now.

The warrior is the one who have it worse with the Aroshok, thought rogue isn't that better either. Fighting him as a mage is easier than both classes.
As for DAI, I don't know. It's true that mages and rogues got new specs and warriors got old ones (though Champion seems different from DAO), but I think we should wait and see how specs works this time. I'll play as mage in my first playthrough though. I like a lot how spells are portrayed visually (expecially those magic circles/runes).

The spells are indeed pretty. The issues of picking a classes kills me every time. I tend to start each one multiple time before settling on something.

I happened to me a lot too. I think I'll stick this time because o the background my first PC will have. I wanted to play a dalish mage since DAO.

'Removed from the PC's available specs', since blood mages will still be present in the game.

Doesn't contradict what I have said. I named the reason why it was removed from pc specs.

Retconned is a reason. Abolished, no.

The evil part of Blood magic, I guess.Though it was something WoT already did.

Still though, the specialization was simply removed and switched out, not necessarily retconned.

Regardless, I do think mages will have options to perform blood magic acts during the course of the game since we lack the spec now.
