Artificer sounds a lot like a mechromancer class.

I find it curious that the Warrior specializations are all from previous games, while only one of the Rogues and none of the Mages are. The lack of Blood Mage is the most surprising thing.
I'm intrigued about Tempest, Necromancer but most of all, Rift Mage. Maybe that last one has the rumoured power of opening rifts and summoning demons... although havint two summoning mage specializations (Necromancer & Rift Mage) sounds too much, so it's just a guess.

But blood magic also performs the same thing.
Blood magic doesnt always require your blood but i can see a mechanic that allows your to regen your health if you use BM
Necromancer as we understand it is more about using demons/spirits to animate corpses. Doesn't have to be blood magic. Blood magic just seems to lend itself to animating corpses in game combat.

Maybe that is reflecting a change in how blood magic will be presented, but who knows.

Yeah, but the champion description has been changed. It isn't so much about buffs and stuff by how it is described so who knows.

maybe blood magic is a story extra ability like the abilities at avernus lab in Warden's keep.
you get a shiny new power and all the prejudice along with it.
makes more sense than being a spec really.

The problem I have with no Blood magic spec is that blood magic is a core Dragon Age theme. I'm not hugely upset, but I don't like it. Of course it's still early and maybe one of the other specializations are blood magic renamed. Even so, I still don't like the rename.

Champion seems like a tank spec rather than a leader like in DA:O, which is a bit of a shame for me.
The relationship of necromancy to blood magic has been unclear in previous games - DA2 seemed to pretty strongly equate the two, but in DA:O you could have a pet skelly without stepping outside Chantry approved schools.
If there is no blood magic spec, then that's probably wise, since it should have a much bigger impact on the story than is practical.
Overall it looks like a solid selection of classes, covering a good variety of character types.

I hope this means Force mage spells are moved out of a specialization and are just another talent tree. But I'm super happy to see the return of an arcane warrior and the Champion specialization!

I would argue Necromancy would have just as big of an impact.

Maybe that's the reason they took it out. To avoid situations such as the Kirkwall templars not realizing there's a blood mage on the loose right before them. Or to avoid Cassandra stabbing the Inquisitor right away.
I would argue Necromancy would have just as big of an impact.
Depending on what kind of Necromancy it is. Let's take possible Cassandra's reactions:
Blood Magic Necromancy: "Maleficar! Burn the Inquisitor!"
Spirit School Necromancy: "Creepy... But it's a Chantry-approved school of magic, so I can't complain".
Nevarran Necromancy?: "Ah, that reminds me of home".

I may actually play a mage at some point. Knight Enchanter sounds interesting. Wielding arcane weapons and heavy armour sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Will definitely be hitting the Warrior class first, though.

These look good, making nine classes out of three basic classes is always good, i assume since there will be nine companions one will fit into each of these categories?

It doesn't say they can wear heavy armor. It says defensive spells, which would make more sense.

I'm glad the champion spec is making a glorious return.
It's sucks we're getting only 3 specs again like they did with DA2, but I'm excited all the mage ones are brand new. Now it's all but confirmed I'll start my first playthrough as a mage.

Armour isn't restricted by class. Therefore, a mage can wear heavy armour, if he or she so chooses.

Sooo... I'm guessing Spirit Healer isn't a specialization? So every mage gets access to healing now?

Unless they're doing away with stat requirements on items, then you'd still need to get the "You can use your magic stat in place of strength" that Arcane Warriors got or else be required to waste a ton of stat points on being able to equip your armour.
Although it does sound a lot like it will be very similar to a defensive Arcane Warrior.

I was torn between making my female qunari Inquisitor a warrior or a mage, so this settles things nicely. Arcane Knight Quinquisitor here I come!

I would not mind beserker back, and perhaps a rogue spec that makes it possible for you to use a longsword in one hand and a dagger in the other, but that's just me.

oh joy the first warrior spec announced is 'meat shield' Mages get something that sounds like Arcane Warrior 2.0, Rogues get traps and tricks and machines..yea. Well hope reaver is more inspiring, really need 'the guy who uses a 2h weapon well' (hopefully they have talked to some HEMA guys to get the frankly amazing movements of a decent fight nailed...but not holding my breath, guess it will be sharp bassball bats again, after DA:O shwoed such promise

No blood magic ![]()
Oh well we at least get arcane warrior back.

I'm not really interested in Arcane warrior...maybe if I could use a staff as a melee weapon.
Necromancer is a no no.
Guess I'll wait to see how rift mage turns out.Hope it's a bit like Force mage , it was fun.

"As part of creating your Inquisitor, you will be able to choose between three distinct classes. Each comes with a unique set of abilities, weaponry, special moves, and even class-reactive story content. Further, as your Inquisitor grows in power, you will be able to select a specialization. These advanced classes introduce entirely new abilities to your combat repertoire.-- "
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Tell em bioware!
It sounds like rogues and warriors will be treated as unique from each other in the story. I like it! I'd been hoping for something like this on the class front
Should add some nice content for all the classes!

I kinda feel like that the most boring specs are for the warrior, which is a shame, secondly one would have thought that Spirit Warrior could get a glorious return due to the subject matter of the game.
But hey... Specialization DLCs! I am totally game for that.

I miss Blood Magic, it's my favorite spec and I always play it as a mage, and was really looking forward to seeing if they would give it an effect on the story. Which could be part of the reason its not - I think your companions/the world in general would react significantly different towards blood mage Inquisitor than any other spec, so it's probably too much effort for one spec.
I also think people are right, spending your health as mana would be difficult when they limit healing. Though don't Reavers do similar things? They're more powerful the less health they have, right?
