Probably has something to do with ripping holes in the veil. Or pants.

Most likely a mage who taps in the extra arcane power possible because of the rift.. summoning spirits/demons and the like or maybe something else related to the fade.

Rift Mage could be a form of spirit healing. Or something totally new and awesome. I hope that specializations have an impact on the story. Like...it'd be neat for people to acknowledge that you drank the blood of a dragon to gain some powers or that you're a master of traps.

I kind of figured it would be a more spirit based class or something. What ever it is. It sounds cool. Glad to see a Necromancer in the frey as well.

I hope every companion gets their own tree ala DA2.
I'd also like for the opportunity to learn a couple of skills from them. (I always wanted Hawke to be able to use 'Stone's Throw' from Merrill's tree)

It seems like Necromancer would handle the summoning/minion side of things for specializations, and Knight Enchanter will be more defensive.
The two main ways I see Rift Mage going are either a utility/control tree, or an offensive damage dealing one.

Artificer uses an image of Varric with a crossbow. Does this mean crossbows will be usuable by the player character? I hope so, because if so this spec makes it sound like I'll be able to make my rogue a Malazan Marine.

Perhaps they use the power of the Fade Rifts to augment their magic further? With the veil spilt, mage's must be capable of crazy magic (if a little out of control...)

Rogue use an image of Varric, there are no images for the specializations.
I still find it strange that they use a Warrior Inquisitor and not Cassandra for Warrior though.

I guess Knight Enchanter is the new Arcane Warrior

So according to the new website www.dragonage.com (Check it Out!) we know all the class specializations.
Warrior:
- Champion: "Champions are defenders and protectors, and when a warrior trains in the champion’s tradition, he or she becomes unstoppable. Champions use their armor, weapon and awareness to shrug off incoming attacks while holding critical positions on the battlefield and protecting allies in the process."
- Templar: No Description Yet.
- Reaver: No Description Yet.
Rogue:
- Artificer: "Intricate mechanisms are the core of the artificer’s craft: Deadly traps; Distracting contraptions; Marvels of engineering turned to deadly purpose. If an artificer is standing at the far end of a seemingly innocuous stretch of the battlefield, you should find another path. If he or she is smiling? Best just to hope your affairs are in order."
- Assassin: No Description Yet.
- Tempest: No Description Yet.
Mage:
- Knight Enchanter: "Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks."
- Necromancer: No Description Yet.
- Rift Mage: No Description Yet.
I'm mostly intrigued by Knight Enchanter for the mage, spells Arcane Warrior to me!
Champion, Templar, and Reaver have all appeared in previous games.
Looks like artificers may be doing more than just making traps! Kind of a quasi-engineer... cool.
Assassin has been in previous games.
My guess is, Tempest is the new swashbuckler/duelist ... sans naval associations ... the melee/dueling rogue.
Knight Enchanter sounds like Arcane Warrior, except he may be using conjured weapons and armor (this is an idea I've had for a while... thanks Bio!
) Perhaps a bit more like the Battlemage.
Necromancer may go beyond blood magic to involve creating and controlling undead, and the "entropic"/cursing/hexing magic.
Rift Mages may focus on summoning...

me
What if necromancy means manipulating the energy of undeath AND life? Theoretically, a necromancer could be a healer since they channel those energies.
It might not fit with their lore, but I've always seen it that way.

I'm really hoping that the Tempest tree is where I can get my archery tree for my rogue. I was more than a little miffed at how utterly sparse and lacking the archery tree was in ][, and there wasn't any specializations to go with it. I had to steal Sebastian's in order to have a viable build. Here's to hoping that this coming game is better about this. :D

Who needs healing when you can raise the dead?
To me, Necromancy is more evil than Blood Magic.

I think it's gonna go similar to DA2, with a archery, dagger, and then the spec

So long as all the rogue specs aren't geared towards dual wield as much as they were in the last game. Most of the specs were great if you were going daggers, but they were really sub-par if you were taking archery.

Well I usually play sword and shield warriors, but that gameplay footage making me thirsty for a rogue. That grappling maneuver is just plain hot.

I want music and nature spells.

Possibility that there may be a return of unique specs for companions - those 9 are only for the PC.
If so, perhaps a elf NPC mage might have Keeper: OR racial ability-specific spells that turn up in other schools? I'd also love if it turns out "Dynamic Hands Moustache Guy" (DHMG) is a bard. ![]()
I don't think spirit healer is coming back, because they simply may be moving healing spells into existing pre-spec mage schools/trees.
Blood magic may return to being an NPC-only specialization (perhaps one companion will have a variant of it)?
Always loved spirit warrior, but technically it was a one-off, unless we get somebody else in the party who is spirit-possessed.
Also sad not to see ranger coming back, or anything archery focused. However, hopefully the "base" archery trees have interesting stuff, or one companion who's archer focused having a good unique archery tree.
Hey, if I also have to "steal" it with the console for an archer PC, que sera, sera. ![]()

Brace yourselves, specializations hype! Although I wish Spirit Healer was somehow featured as a specialization, since Blood Mage is not in there I kind of like it. Nercomancer sounds much more potent imo. Knight Enchanter is obviously arcane warrior, although I do hope they bring in more utility and buffing rather than " I wield a blade and nothing can hit me! Aaand I don't have any mana left to cast spells...". Obviously the ignorant Circle Magi stole this spec from my Elf Mage back in DA:O, she obviously taught them the Arcane Warrior spec
Human hubris! But seriously, having an Arcane Warrior 2.0 sounds exciting, and I really hope Rift Mage is an echo of Force Mage back from DA2. With only one specialization choice, I feel like I might actually play the game twice as a mage, just to see what both Knight Enchanter and Riftmage are like (elf and qunari mages unite!). Also, did anyone notice how many frickin people were around the Inquisitor's table? Apart from the confirmed companions. Omfg, it seems like we will have plenty of companions, and a lot of sexy ones at that!!! Huehueheuhue....
