more fun(ny) that way, at least to me

i wonder if there are Spirits of "Change"

would turn a twist on morrigan's words that's for sure.

well we already saw that done in The Beureau: XCOM Declassified
when the whole game you were an Alien possessing the agent

Never played that game but always heard the ending was terrible (along with the rest of the game).  That there does sound really stupid.

Yes one does, it's called a dreamer.

Dreamers don't walk into the fade ...they send their spirit there just like everyone else.

Their bodies stay back "asleep" on Thedas.

Dreamers are just able to be in the fade , fully awake when they want to...Other mage need some magical ritual to do the same.

They are also able to interract with the fade a bit like Spirits and Demons.

The only people who ever walked the fade , with their full bodies were the Tevinter magisters who went to the Golden city.

Aye and they got wrecked like Raziel from Soul Reaver when Kain threw him into the abyss.

Let that be a lesson to anyone else thinking that they can just simply walk into the Fade without repercussions.

Like Revan in KoTOR.

naaaaah not like that. You see in ME1 we had a background, and this background will result in some quest. In DAO we start as doing a quest based on our background.

Revan... he is just a part of the plot really.

my money is on your posessed by a Spirit of Hope without knowing

You know what

I would actually like this, you are the manifestation of a spirit of hope without knowing

It would be better than "chosen one" plots

I would hate it if you are a manifestation of a spirit, i would be more comfortable with a chosen one, even though i do not like the sound of that either. but i think it would atleast be better than "you are a spirit" story.

Really, when push comes to shove a premise is basically just that, a premise.

It's how it's executed that tells us if it's good or not.

It's not so much walking in and out of the Fade as doing the hokey-pokey with it.

The Inquistor talked with a lyrium bush in the fade who gave them the mark. You then unlock an achievment if you name the Inquisitor "Moses"

I'm half convinced that's the case. It would explain things quite well. I'm also fairly convinced that the Inquisitor is the Formless One. No basis for that, except that the Formless One is the only Forbidden One unaccounted for, the name implies a fluidity of appearance, and I just want to play an ancient storied demon.

That was the impression I got after reading the end of Asunder. I'm not sure it can be interpreted another way.

I think that anybody can now enter the Fade as long as they find a breach to walk through. I assumed that was the point - the Veil is torn so the Fade and the Material world can be freely traversed in either direction.

Hmm... I suppose that's also a possibility worth exploring. Maybe the Inquisitor crossed the Fade from Thedas in another time? That would be awesome! And more than a bit difficult to explore in a Dragon Age game. :(

I hope not tbh.

I actually doubt it though because we do have backgrounds based on race and class and I remember reading somewhere that the Inquisitors reason to be there would be explained through dialogue. That suggests that the character has a history in the real world that they are aware of which would seem to go against your theory.

Well, Cole also had a history in the real world. ;)

Isn't all this overthinking? The answer could be as simple as the Inquisitor was standing next to the guy who torn the fade. Being directly at ground zero shot him into the fade while everyone else was turned to corpse statues.

It's called Flemeth!

Honestly we will be saved by her when we get sucked into the fade unless Bioware plans on breaking the Flemeth saving the protagonist tradition.

Neither do I to be honest, mostly because it restricts the freedom to roleplay the character, but it would be most interesting.

I have no desire to play Cole 2.0.

There are any number of ways for the writers to justify the Inquisitor's powers. The demon/spirit who doesn't know they're a demon/spirit is the second worst way I've seen suggested to do that.

I agree. It could be that you were granted.

Your hand is green and the color of the a tear or weaken veil is green. Could it be that some characteristic of the veil had become part of you when you were blown into it?

Now that I think abou it, a spirit of hope make sense, justice was able to "enchant" your weapon to close small veil tears so a powerful spirit of hope might do the same. I would like that actually, spirit aren't really evil but they can be just like a human, elf, etc. However I might not be as surprise, shouldn't have thought about it too much haha..well either way I think it will be amazing. It would give us a more deeper understanding about all the spirits and maybe even about the fade.
