This is a very good map, it really gives a better sense about the whole continent of thedas. I admit, I've been just spending a lot of time looking at all the little areas and such, reading the names and stuff.
I never even knew there was a Donarks in thedas. XD

The placing of Denerim is not incorrect.
On this city map you can see the West Road and the North Road entering the west gate of the city.

That means that Denerim is where those roads meet.
That matches the new map perfectly.

On the Dragon Age Origins map, the Denirim icon was actually positioned over the south-east corner of the Arling of Amaranthine, which from the Awakenings map you can see was originally placed rather inaccurately to the north-west.

On the original DAO map it is the city icons that are vaguely placed, not the location of Denerim on the new map.
This shot shows the casual map placing on the original DAO map and where Denerim actually is:

Granted, Haven does appear to have been placed further North,
but you could attribute that to casual icon placing in DAO.
In any case, having Haven near to Orzammar might point to their reappearance as visitable locations in one map area in DAI :-)

We're only going to Ferelden and Orlais.

We're only going to Ferelden and Orlais.
How much of each nation though?
Orlais itself is immense, I'm assuming the borders of the Nation are the Frostback and Gamordan mountains on East-West, The Gamordan Peaks and Hunterhorn mountains/Blasted Hills on South-North. The North-South Bound Imperial Highway into Nevarra marks the Border to the Free Marches, with the Minanter River serving as the Border to Nevarra.

What do you guys think? Will DA:I be bigger than Skyrim with all the regions combined. Is there anywhere where the developers said that?
Think of it like origins and da2... you use the map to fast travel to that area and explore that area... it is not just one big open world map...

Awesome job! It's nice to easily see some other new parts of the iconic map we haven't seen before.

There's an area called Solas in Tevinter (at least I think it's Tevinter)! I hope that's somehow relevant to the character!

I'm guessing we are revisiting places in Ferelden as well as new places. I'd say were seeing all corners of Ferelden and Orlais.

In some respects, we're not even "Revisiting" Ferelden. We saw so little of it in DA:O, couple that with the engine changes and the different approach to level/world design, and I think people will be hard pressed to recognize Ferelden outside of very intentional homages. And I mean this in the best way possible.
What do you guys think? Will DA:I be bigger than Skyrim with all the regions combined. Is there anywhere where the developers said that?
Skyrim wasn't all that big. I think only Twelve Square Miles. Monhaven (Throat of the World) is only about a mile above the set sea level. The surface area measurements explode if you factor in dungeons though.
I hate to commit anything on the behalf of another game, but I'd kind of be surprised if the actual traversable surface area of DA:I wasn't 50% larger than Skyrim's overland area. I don't have fresh memories of Dragon Age: Origins, but I remember the Kocari Wilds being pretty big... and if the average "Area" Size is three times that...
