Seems like the perfect opportunity for a "Nobody expects this!" joke.

Shame they won't be making those.

I actually like Adrian a lot better than I like Fiona, on the meta level, that is. At least with Adrian the DG got across what he was intending to.

Why do you hate her? She was a tortured person.

Because he is an elf mage, former slave, turned Grey Warden, cured of the Taint, a dragon king's lover, mother of another, who ran from the Grey Wardens without consequences, became Grand Enchanter and is now a freedom fighter. Have I already mentioned she was your mentor's best friend?

She is more of a Mary Sue than the PC in an RPG and that is saying something.

I'm a pessimist at heart, so I'm pretty confident DA:I will fare similary to ME3.

Some forboding signs are already here.

First, the departure from the original plan - we were only supposed to have a human protagonist (which kinda makes sense), but because people wanted race choice, they crowbared race choice in. Not to mention some people hate either chantry or religion in general, so they musn't be forced to associate with them.

So now you can have qunari heretics leading the Inquisition, and everyone jumping aboard the bandwagon because of plot.

Yeah, I have my doubt the devs will manage to dig themsleves out of that hole. Let alone the others.

So because people like it and you don't like it, it will be just like ME3. I want this logic.

Interesting. However, you can see it the other way around: all those signs of doom you're posting sound a lot like a return to the "good old ways" of Origins, before the game was turned into "medieval ME" (not my words, just things I've heard before). After all, there was DA before DA2 and DA:I. In my case, I prefer it that way.

In fact, I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention ME2 instead of ME3. You know, forcing the protagonist to work for a shady organization for no logical reason except "the plot says so".

In my defense, Adrian's the only Dragon Age character that's managed to pull that level of visceral hate from me. Kudos to Mr. Gaider.

Nope.

Its more of a case of making changes that hurt the believability and common sense of setting for the sake of player "convenince". Or should I say, player demands.

It's certainly far, FAR worse than any missed/added romance or companion.

Some amount of railroading must exist in a CRPG.

Without a plot hook, there can be no plot. Besides, it at least made some sense, given that no one else was willing to look into the reapers.
What bothered me in ME2 was the very beginning and the stupidity of killing and reviving Sheppard... but that is for the ME talk forums.

Then, if ME2 railroading was ok, what is the problem in Inquisition?

To be fair one is excused for not preparing for a giant fade breach to decimate all your forces.

*cough* Chantry in Kirkwall *cough*

so yeah, it would be wise to expect weapons of mass destruction under your bed. or when you participate in some important meeting.

offtopic or a sidenote. we are playing with characters who wage war here and there, and at the same time none of these characters (even shepard) possess even a glimpse of military thinking or military attitude.

That was always a point of irritation with me as well.

Would be hilarious. Setting up big name characters in a book - only to be killed off in the first minute of the game :P

Or the first segment, like an Ostagar moment.

LOLwut, there is no issue at all with the Inquisitor being human/dwarf/elf/qunari(not to mention the qunari we can play does not even follow the Qun). You are a survivor who is the only one able to close the Breach because of a mark(that will probably be explained) and the person helping you was giving orders to create the group as a plan B. That is believable.

Takes choice out. No need to think. ME2 was more about getting a task done.

What choice do you want? To NOT be the Inquisitor? Hell of a short game then... If you are talking about the QUnari somehow being followed, you might chalk that up to him being the only person able to get the job done. The world doesn't have a choice but to follow.

Don't we have several factions here? Elves/Orlesian conflict and Mage/Templar conflict

My point was that ME2 was simple and not that many choices.

Your comment:  To NOT be the Inquisitor?

Why do you even mention this? Clearly I see factions in this game to pick sides?

I was responding to Misticsan, on 24 Apr 2014 - 08:19 AM about ME2 which is not the correct design for a game of choice.

Also going by his logic only a Cousland Warden was "believable" and "made sense" in Origins because why would Ferelden take orders from a mage, elf or dwarf?
