Idk.. maybe I'm alone in thinking this but.. he doesn't look completely dead in this picture..



I actually see colour in his cheeks.
EDIT - he doesn't look the healthiest.. but I've seen worse. Just look at that face. How can you insult that?

He looks like Gollum. Or somebody suffering from renal failure, dehydration and vitamin deficiency. He doesn't look completely monstrous but geeze is he creepy

So? He's not an LI, that much is certain, Gaider said it himself multiple times. It doesn't effect you. From what we've learned, he's become one of the most selfless characters in the DA series, helping people because he wants to help people, not wanting glory or recognition. How about we celebrate that instead of complaining about his appearance?

I really, really hope the Frostbite Engine is better at hair than this.  That looks like he's got a scrap of burlap cloth on his head.

There's something seriously wrong with the left side of his face as well, for it to stick forward far enough that we can see his entire left eye from that angle.

 

I have literally nothing positive to say about that screenshot.

Even if he WAS a love interest, harping on his appearance with this much negativity - in a fan thread, no less - is unnecessary.  I don't mind anyone saying they don't like his appearance or that he creeps them out, but Chari has more than expressed her point and has insisted on insulting others at the same time.  So...either kindly stop or participate in another topic of conversation?  This thread was already temporarily locked before.

Not everyone going to love Cole, not everyone has to. Making a character into a perfect selfless angel would be a bad decision for any writer

the fact that cole is word of god functionally a child (or at least was, for most of asunder: his current state may be different) is an acceptable basis for feeling like calling out people who want to romance cole. that said you should still not attack people and should still be kind, like the devs have asked.

 

cole's unhealthy, somewhat deathly physical appearance and thinking that he looks like an 18-25 year old, are not. some people find garrus and the iron bull attractive. whatever. and a 20yr old cole + 40 inquisitor is no different to a 20yo inquisitor + nearly40 LI like Cassandra. big deal

This is what frustrates me. He never said that. Hell just click the top left where it says Show Only Bioware posts. They are being very coy about it.

Exactly. If someone wants to dispute the fact that he's possibly not capable of consent, that's one thing, and it's definitely a valid point if that's how he's still being portrayed. It's never a good argument that a character can't be an LI because YOU PERSONALLY don't think they're attractive enough. There will be some people that think any character is attractive and some that don't. Your subjective opinion doesn't trump someone else's and the devs have made it clear that they base potential LI choices on more plot central reasons than aesthetics.

if you think a discussion includes bashing ... yeah. no. there is a big difference between expressing, for example, that you are creeped out by a character's clearly-intended-to-be-somewhat-otherworldly design or that you find a character unattractive and bashing. bashing (and probably excessive complaining too) gets you warning points

 

fans of Cole aren't reacting "so negatively" to people disliking him. most fans of cole understand that he is polarizing (and for some of us that's part of why we like him). as functional human beings we also understand that liking a character is optional, lol?? people are reacting to the way you're putting your opinion across.

 

I'm a huge Cole fan and I don't find his appearance aesthetically appealing, for instance, and it's perfectly legit for me to express that politely in a Cole discussion thread. but if you can't understand the difference between that sort of thing and bashing then please like, brush up on forum rules and "discussions" or somethin

True, and if you want to come here and air your negative opinions on Cole, that's fine. But that also means we can do the same back. No? It's how you're putting your opinions across that I think rubs people up the wrong way.

As one of you said: it's subjective. If people hate a character and want to express it it's their right to do so unless they attack other people
