With the information we have so far I think Cole is the most interesting companion so far. Although everyone's opinions should be respected I think all who are bashing on Cole should reserve their judgement when the game is out and we can get to know our bff (best fade friend)

I don't think Cole actually has the taint, as we know it. I think it's probably just something to do with his partially demonic nature. Spirits can hear lyrium "sing" and I wonder how they react to red lyrium. I've thought for a while that all this stuff could link up somehow, since it always come back to music. When Cole heard the song, he didn't find it appealing or tempting at all, but the darkspawn and tainted are drawn towards it. The spirits supposedly stay away from the Black City.
I kind of remember him being almost repulsed by it? Terrifying or something?
The one thing I can't stop thinking about that one massive as balls hat is that... it just looks so heavy. And uncomfortable. And like it would make moving around really difficult. And where in the world did he get it and what made him want to wear it, of all the hats in the world out there? That one big ass kind of ugly hat? Of all hats? Here's to hoping there is a story behind it because if there is not-- well, I'd be okay with it, actually. But there has got to be a story behind that kind of hat.
I happen to love monsters including the physical monsterish qualities. Digital Devil Saga is one of my favorite games ever for this reason.
Also I'm 21 so I don't understand the freak out about romancing someone that is 20, doesn't seem like a very good argument to me. Not everyone is old. There's plenty of old men to dote over this time.
Didn't the devs say that every character has a certain "Style" and certain gear will look different on who it's on or something? I'm thinking Cole must really love that hat...

Felt like I should contribute something here about how Cole looks in the latest picture. Yes, he is very pale but no, that does not automatically make him look unhealthy, suffering from a terminal disease. I come from a family that naturally looks very pale. When I was a teenager/early twenties I was thin and pale. My own mother used to encourage me to wear make up with the words "You look like death warmed up." Luckily instead of totally destroying my confidence, it made me that much more determined not to wear make up. Because if people didn't like me for how I looked, too bad on them. In certain lights I looked even more pale. Interestingly enough I did tan easily and went brown, not red, but I've never particularly liked just sitting around toasting myself, so only got tanned if I was actually working outside. Otherwise I would return from summer break looking even whiter compared with everyone else.
I think Cole looks okay - he's been hanging around dungeons and old buildings a lot of the time - not much sunlight there so bound to stay very pale. In any case, beauty is only skin deep.

Yes they should. Also Sera is my second fav companion so far. My party is gonna be three rogues so far plus Cassandra
That goes for almost every aspect of attractivity, and I'll facepalm at everyone who ignorantly claims that there is no universal standard of beauty, but that doesn't mean that their oft-quoted "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" line is completely without merit. Everyone diverges from the standard to varying degrees for a variety of reasons, and all of that is perfectly fine.Science, medicine, psychology and evolution disprove theirs
