I can just imagine somebody asking Cole if he likes nuts, with a whole  "wink wink nudge nudge" thing going on.

And Cole would be like, "Oh, you mean hazelnuts? They're nice, I guess, but I prefer walnuts."

I think a lot of jokes are going to go over Cole's head. Worse than Merrill.

Yeah that is definitely the kind of banter I would like to hear from Cole. Especially between Cole and Iron Bull.

Most attractive? I think that's pretty subjective but I am pretty sure if you tallied people's opinions that spot would go to Cullen or Dorian haha.

Maybe Dorian if I can convince him to ditch his creepy moustache, and Cullen is an advisor so I wasn't counting him (but I prefer Cole to Cullen anyway and also highly doubt Cullen will be bi and definitely not gay).

I honestly would expect his romance to be m/m only. The f/f gets the most attractive girl, it's only fair the m/m gets the most attractive guy :-p

OT but: I just don't get it. Vivienne may have slightly large ('though far from oversized) lips, but overall she's stunningly beautiful (with soft facial features that pose a stark contrast to her apparent personality and common facial expressions). And Cassandra has the angular looks of a classic 1990's super model, albeit hardened by her military lifestyle. I like Sera (calling Cole "it" aside), but she looks plain at best--both in terms of bone structure as well as skin quality. Frankly, I think the majority of those who complain the loudest either think the other two female companions too strong (i.e. not "proper" women), have an obsessive elf fetish and/or use every argument they can think of not to come across as the racists they are (and fail miserably at it).

Vivienne is also bald, not many people who dig that (same reason Solas isn't considered super attractive). Cassandra is definitely a good choice but a LOT of people are keen on blondes ;). Also Sera is like an elf female batman from what I have seen. Which raises the awesome factor of her. I will make her and Cole get along as they will both be regular members of my party ^^

Good luck with that . I doing the PC will have any power in influencing companions' opinions of others.

Well, like I said. Subjective. I count Cullen cause he's a romance. I don't really think anyone in the Inquisition is unattractive, just merely not "my type". Although I find all the women companions to be absolutely gorgeous.

Gaider already came in and said that LI status is not determined by looks regardless. But I do think it's a safe bet to rule Cole out anyways, regardless of this "change" Patrick mentioned.

Completely random thought (I am prone to these) but do you think it will be possible to give Cole a pet?   Animals can see him (or sense him) even when humans can't.   So if you could give him say, a nice Mabari, then he would have a friend when you're not around.   He could snuggle up to it when he slept, like he did with Rhys.   And may be the dog wouldn't forget him and bring him gifts, like it did the Warden in DAO.

Yeah the "change" is probably down to Cole figuring out who/what he really is and coming to terms with that (or not). That and the fact he now wants to help people.

I suspect he may be a little less dependant on someone like he was to Rhys, too. A little more independant.

I'm not ruling out a Cole romance, but neither am I expecting one. We'll find out eventually anyway, so no point in guessing at this moment when we know very little about DAI Cole's mentality etc. Specultion is fun but, personally it drives me insaaaaanee.

(:

EDIT - speaking of appearance, Cullen is amazingly handsome and all that.. as are the other males. Cole isn't supposed to be but.. I find his appearance rather endearing.. nothing wrong with a less than average appearance when someone has an adorable, sweet personality. That wins every time for me ^_^ I get what you're saying, but I just thought I'd put my penny's worth in on the matter :P

I can imagine him with a scruffy pet rat. He found him in the cellar or something and thought he wanted a friend.

They're usually shunned as vermin and they tend to stick to the shadows and shelter, and not many people like them or give them a chance. I could just see him with one. And he'd just call him "rat".

I have 2 dumbo rats.. they're adorably intelligent and snuggly, and tend to be very comfortable around calm, soft spoken people .. which Cole is ^^

Holy Maker, the thought of Cole having any pet, rat or mabari, sounds wonderful. A furry companion so that he won't have to be alone all the time, a pet to cuddle up with... but it'd also help him learn about responsibility and how to take care of others' needs.

My theory animals can sense him because they can probably smell him in a way that humans/elves/dwarves can't. Animal noses are very sensitive.

I'm hoping he becomes more independent as well, and I hope he makes friends. I think that's what I want the most. Being alone in the Pit for so long... that causes so much deterioration of the mind, I imagine it's like solitary confinement. :pinched:
That must take a toll on him, spirit/demon or not.

I agree there isn't much point speculating who will be a romance, they could really do anything. I could see any of the companions being one. No matter what happens quite a large amount of people will be disappointed. I just think it's a safe bet to rule out Cole.

In terms of appearance, I agree with you on Cole. He is the most aesthetically pleasing to me in terms of the guys, although I couldn't say why. The rest of them though, I do not find ugly or anything. I just need to know more about a character to care about them, regardless of their looks. It's why I don't ever plan out my LI playthroughs until I have actually played through the game, with my first run "going with the flow" so to speak.  :P
I don't find Alistair very attractive, but he's my favorite romance in DA:O. My only original point was that just because that person finds Cole the most attractive doesn't mean he's guaranteed to be anything. ^^

I can just imagine us seeking out Cole at the keep, and as we're approaching his "area" where he hangs out, we just hear him gently speaking to something. And then we discover he's made a little friend. Awwwwwwh

Thinking about it, I'm kind of in two minds about how he'd react to animals. On the one hand, I can imagine him being completely soft-spoken and compassionate, and being extremely careful and doting. On the other, if he does have a fragile, simplistic state of mind, would he realise how to treat them?

I'm going with the former. Cole is a gentle soul. :P

Hmm a pet? I'm split on this. If he had one, I think he'd need one that isn't as high maintenance as a dog/mabari. Maybe that's just my cat bias though. Or something like a mouse/rat would be good too. Something that would provide companionship but also not easy to neglect when gone out to war for long periods of time.

I think that if the Inquisitor/whoever's willing could just teach him the basics on how to care for animals, he'd learn how to treat animals quickly enough and grow to enjoy their company.

Imagine him raising a mabari from a puppy. Imagine it a little less than obedient at first, but then by the end-game they're close companions.

That's why my vote is a big scruffy, fluffy fat rat.<3

As someone who's been dealing with raising a large dog (got her at 8 weeks, she's 1 year and 4 months now) I don't think Cole would be cut out for a mabari. It would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high maintenance for him. Cat or rat seems more fitting. Rats are questionable though since rats harassed/tortured the real Cole in his cell...so I don't know if there's be any lingering resentment or not.

To be honest with you, I can imagine him with a scruffy mut than a Mabari :P Don't Mabari dogs pretty much choose their owner? (who they're loyal to at least)

Someone with strength and will.. if my memory serves me correctly. So for that reason I can definitely see him adopting a little stray mongrel puppy. ^_^

Hehe.. just imagine our quizzy being like: "Ok Cole.. mut needs a brush and a bath today. He's getting pretty stinky."  *sideyes Cole*  "hmm.. someone else could do with the same..", *Cole twiddles his thumbs looking at the floor and slowly backs away*

That is a very good point. I completely forgot about that :( Poor Cole..

I don't see Cole as a cat person.. I'm not sure why.. it would have to be a very fat lazy cat that just likes sleeping and a belly rub.

As I posted before, I think a little stray mut would be cute.

To be fair, the Warden's mabari seems to take care of himself well enough. I mean, he was no where to be seen for the duration of Awakening, yet he's with you again in Witch hunt (which I believe was 2 years after Origins or something?) And managed to survive on his own in the wilds and find you again right after Ostagar. I think mabari at least are smart enough to not need too much maintenance. In fact, the mabari would probably take care of Cole more than anything else xD

Still, I think my vote on this would be the reappearance of Sir-Pounce-a-Lot :D

I miss being able to go into my inventory and click on the kitten to hear it meow

The warden's is already an adult and probably trained to some degree at least. Cole raising a puppy would be a lot of work and dogs are very dependent on their owners (edit: while growing up and being trained at least). I personally think a cat would be the closest to his own habits and personality. Self sufficient but still can enjoy company, stealthy, efficient killers. Can you just imagine the cat bringing Cole something it killed because it thought Cole was a bad hunter and needed to eat something?

To be honest with you, the more I think about Cole with a Marbari pet.. the less it seems right to me. I'm pretty sure Mabari hounds are drawn to a certain strength of character and will. They're pretty much the soldiers in dog form :P

I can definitely see Cole's doggy being like this. Not particularly "proud" or concerned about grooming themselves. Quiet(ish) and friendly and accepting of all people. Bar meanies.
