I didn't particularly find any of them "attractive"
Am I strange?
That depends. Do you find any men attractive at all? Or do you just prefer real life ones? Either way, I don't think it's strange. ![]()
Edit: Or perhaps none of them are your type. ^^;

Not my type looks-wise I guess ![]()
*insert Aragorn here*
Personality however, is a completely different subject. That always comes first for me ![]()
May be you're right about the Mabari. It's just they're intelligent and animals have this sort of sixth sense about people, so I thought they would sense his loneliness and need for protection. Cats can be very loyal and loving. People used to find it amusing seeing my cats going for a walk with me and the dog. One used to follow me to the end of the road when I went to the shops and then wait there for me to return. I just liked the idea that Cole would have some sort of loyal furry friend. Not that I intend to abandon him and from what has been said, he would definitely approve of my elf girl since she is very kind and caring, but knowing Bioware I always have in the back of my mind that may be the Inquisitor may not have any choice in the matter when it comes to staying or going, so I was planning ahead so Cole would never have to be entirely alone. And bearing in mind what happened with Anders and Ser Pouncelot I would make it clear that nobody had the right to take away his pet.
As somebody who had multiple scratches from a cat that I loved dearly that just hated being picked up, I empathise completely.
But yeah, a little skittish one that only likes Cole would be sweet. That being said, if they're doing gifts like they did in DA2, then a rat would actually be the best gift, because of Cole's past with them. He'd be reluctant to accept it at first, but eventually they'd both bond and be companions (in friendship) or he'd get upset and reject it (in rivalry). Thoughts?
Hmm I think the whole gifting system has been totally thrown out since there's no approval rating system anymore. Relationships depend on decisions you make throughout th game rather than just saying the right things and giving them gifts.
However, I'll humour the idea.
I think that would be lovely. If a kitten or puppy were to be handed to Cole as a gift, I can't see much of a story behind that as to why we wanted to gift it to him in the first place. A rat, though, would be pretty interesting. As you said, if we were "friends" with Cole, he'd probably confusedly accept it and ask why - and then our quizzy could explain how he/she thought it would be a good way to build trust with something. How he/she was aware of his past, and that not everything/everyone is the same. Forgive and forget and all of that. I don't know.. sounds silly but I think that would be pretty cute (:
I think I remember them throwing out the giftgiving system from DA:O but might do something like the gifts in DA2? I might be 100% wrong but I'm pretty sure this was said somewhere? Like meaningful gifts that trigger dialogue, not just cake you shove in their face to get to 100 friendship.

I think you're right.
I hated in DA:O how you'd hand them a gift and all you heard was "errrm.. no thanks" or "why.. I don't know what to say.. thank you". And either -10 friendship or +10. I loved the gifts that triggered dialogue. It made a lot more sense and just ugh.. how can you beat extra dialogue and seeing your friend/LI thankful?
I just sat there smug the whole time like "you're welcome
"

The first time I played DA2 this kinda made me sad. Everytime I gave a present to Fenris he got mad at me I was so upset. xD
I agree though I like giving specific character-related gifts. I don't know if they've confirmed/denied it though. I thought they are going more a Mass Effect route in character interactions and friendship.
Like the fennec fox things that were shown in some gameplay footage?
Edit: trailer with the footage here for a clearer look at it.
If Cole doesn't get one, I want to be able to get those as pets. They are so cute. They can be like the Gizka in KOTOR and slowly populate my keeps. ![]()

Screw the Keeps.. I'm living outside after the screenshots we've had of the beautiful environment (and animals!) ![]()
And Cole will be nearby sitting in a tree admiring the view as I'm picking flowers for his hair... - saying that, he didn't think much to books in Asunder and found them pointless/boring.. would he really care about flowers? Everyone loves flowers though... ![]()

Now they were camping inside an old hay barn, half falling apart with the field overgrown with lavender. There was purple everywhere he looked, flowers gently swaying in the evening's breeze along with a scent that was both pleasant and somehow too sweet...Camping among the flowers was preferable. Besides, the sky was clear. The day had been warm, and the evening was no less so. If there was anything to enjoy about being out in the open it was this.

Good call.
I'm starting to think Cole made me forget everything I read.

EDIT - this also means I expect to find Cole sitting amongst the flowers in a field now. (:
EDIT again - I really don't recall this in the book! I'm either losing my mind, or I was miles away while reading lines that weren't going into my brain.. ![]()
I think around when the Keep comes out, I'm going to marathon through the games, books, and comics (again). There's parts other people talk about here about Asunder that even I've pretty much forgotten. But then I have this weird maybe photographic memory of books where I can remember a scene with a field of flowers roughly | | through the book. ![]()

You're absolutely correct. The scene you quoted is in the book, I just checked my paperback copy that I currently have next to me for convenience's sake. (It's on page 280.) So yes, Cole is fine with flowers, and finds lavender both pleasant and too sweet at the same time. ![]()

Oh yeah, I found it and typed it out. I just mean that I can remember where it was and what it was about roughly. lol

Still impressive. I'm no good at remembering text. I'm more of a musical learner, so if I got an audio version of Asunder, I might've remembered.
But getting back on topic... it'd be nice if we could have a scene with Cole in a flowery field, regardless if he's an LI or not. Perhaps a "calm before the storm" sort of scene and his thoughts on it? What do you think?

..I can just see him in deep contemplation sitting amidst the flowers and tall grass.. picking one of the flowers and inhaling it's scent with his eyes closed, then opening them as he senses a presence nearby. Only to see the inquisitor sitting next to him. It doesn't make him jump because there's already trust there between them. Neither of them speak. Just sit there together in deep thought, with the occasional exchanged "knowing" glance with smiling eyes that speak 1000 words.
Maybe that was a little too cheesy but.. I'm a romantic. LI or friend.. that would be absolutely beautiful to me. I want a beautiful friendship with this fragile, misunderstood soul. ![]()
Another thing I was just thinking about -- I know this isn't "lore-friendly" in any way, and isn't physically possible but, wouldn't it be interesting if his appearance could change throughout the course of the game? For instance, if our inquisitor became close friends with Cole, you could see him gradually getting more colour to his cheeks and lips, brighter eyes, and generally a little healthier. However if you choose to be an arse to him, you can clearly see his veins becoming more prominent, his eyes darker and bloodshot etc.

It could actually be possible. I think I remember people found skin texture files for Anders in Act 3 of DA2 that made him look more like Kristof's corpse in Awakening. Implying that Justice was heavily affecting Anders, but the textures went unused. We also have Shepard in ME2/3 that physically changed depending on how renegade or paragon you went.
Edit: I think Revan also did something similar to Shepard in KotOR but I didn't play it so I'm not as familiar.

Ah that is true. I hadn't even considered Anders until you just mentioned it.
(:
I'm actually genuinely curious if his physical appearance will change depending on how you interact with him now.

I would really love this. I don't think there will be rivalry/friendship but a system where he can become more human, and another where he becomes more demon-like maybe? Or maybe wasting away... I guess it depends on how or what exactly is keeping him looking the way he is. Does he look like the original Cole? Did he just create a random human-like form based on random people he sees? Could he change it if he ever gained control of his powers? So many questions... likely no answers. xD

Now that is an interesting question. I mean, come to think of it, we're assuming he looks like the original Cole. Yet we don't even know if original Cole was an adult or not when the templars found him and locked him away, yet the Cole we know definitely looks like an adult male in his 20s. Does the Cole we currently know even age or have the ability to change appearance at will? Some demons can, come to think of it... though the only times I can think of when that's happened, they've been in the fade. Chances are though that Cole's appearance is a subconscious thing built off of the original Cole, though how much he looks like him now isn't something we know..

The original Cole, as described in the Fade sequence was said to be about 12 years old. Gaider said Cole(the spirit) is physically an adult(and he looks about 19-20 to me.) So that's why he couldn't be just a copy of the original Cole, but maybe based on him mixed with other memories of humans? Spirits do seem to be able to mind read, the demon in Pharamond comments that humans thoughts "leak out" I think?
