And not just Morrigan. Blackwall may be very wary of Cole once he finds out about its connection to the old gods as well. Except for Wardens and Darkspawn, nobody is supposed to be able to hear the old gods song. More importantly, everyone that does hear it seems to eventually succumb to its suggestion.

That and Vivienne ought to be too cold and calculating for Sera, practically all about "the greater good" (and her personal gain). Conversely, Vivienne may see Sera as a lost cause of naivety not worth her time.

It's probably wise not to make too many assumptions.   I originally thought Sera would be okay with Cole because of her being all for the little people.   Then PW says that she won't even talk to him and refers to him as "It".    Conversely, I thought Iron Bull would freak about Cole but apparently he is really cool about him (possibly because he doesn't fully understand what he is) but it seems he is prepared to go along with your judgement to put him on the team.    Incidentally, as a consequence of this information about her  treatment of Cole, she has now moved several places down my list of people I'm most likely to take with me on quests.   If I need an archer, I'll take Varric.

 

I've been saying over on the Solas forum that I am really heartened by the Tweet that Cass/Cole/Solas is the team to take along if you want thoughtful, intelligent and respectful moral debate.     I'm thinking that Cole is probably the one to get such a debate going because he is trying to find out about some aspect of life or culture and then Cass and Solas give him their reasoned views on the matter.   Whilst probably on different sides of the debate, they are both intelligent and mature enough to disagree in a non aggressive, reasoned manner.    I already thought Solas would be okay with Cole since he probably understands better than anyone what he actually is and the best way of dealing with him.   However, I am really pleased that Cass is apparently reasonable with him too and Iron Bull doesn't have too many problems with him, so I have a choice of two tanks who I won't mind having around, even if Blackwall turns out to be negative.   (Have you noticed we never seem to be told anything about how Blackwall is with the others?   May be he is just generally okay with everyone providing they don't do anything he doesn't approve of).

 

As for Cole being able to stand up for himself now.   Well, I'm thinking that Lambert had something to do with that.    At the end of Asunder, Cole seemed to have a much more forthright attitude than previously.     I don't think he would physically harm anyone that was on the team because he wouldn't want to upset the Inquisitor but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to display a more aggressive turn of phrase than before.   Then again, may be he'd just ignore someone he didn't approve of and only interact with them if you forced him to.

I imagine Cole's voice to sound young, gentle and soothing, but also slightly off somehow, with some sort of element that makes him sound a little different from everyone else so that you know there's something different about him as soon as you hear him.

I would find it pretty cool if his voice was echo-ey (sorry don't know the word right now lol) like the spirits in the temple of sacred ashes. That would be a twist I would like to see.

I imagine him having the voice of a early-twenties young man, like he appears to be, a bit hushed and quiet, but with a subtle childlike quality to his voice and perhaps something a bit childlike/youthful in his tone. He sounded very childlike in my head when I read Asunder, admittedly, but that's probably just because of his narration and manner of speech.

Maybe just because I'm English myself but.. I just can't imagine him speaking with an Orlesian one. If so, perhaps very subtle. That would be pretty cute on him..

Now Faerah, I need your head here. (not literally ). My Asunder memory has been fialing me lately. Do we know where he was when he was taken by the Templars? Was his home in his "nightmare"/the fade in Orlais? Do we know if he was originally from Orlais? Or did he run off somewhere after he

They may well give Cole an American accent - seems to be the default for all the 'other' types IIRC - some of the elves, dwarves, qunari... The demons go either way - Justice sounds British, while the desire demon in Origins sounded American. It'd be cool if he sounded a bit Orlesian though.  i definitely think he'll sound young.  I wonder if they'll give his voice bit of a reverb or echo effect?

I assume the spirit/demon picked up whatever accent Cole had (or was common in the area). Seems logical to me. Which still begs the question. Was he really from Orlais or was he just found there?

As for the tone of his voice.. I'm thinking soft, gentle, quiet and a little "raspy" as it was described in the book from lack of using his voice. It was never described in the book that he had an echo to his voice so I can only guess it wouldn't have been changed since then. Unless he's now less human-Cole and more Spirit-Demon

This is true but he managed to follow Rhys on foot. And it was a long journey. He managed it in his physical body, and we know he still feels pain - so he's definitely physically able. However, assuming he's a different nationality to where he was throughout the whole book is a little far-fetched and silly of me - So I digress.

Made a £1 bet with my sister about Cole's voice.

She thinks deep and husky, I think creepy and high-ish a la Michael Jackson.

 

I think he might have an English accent or American, but I could see him as Orlesian too.

 

All I know for sure is regardless, he will be forever in my party!

Orlesian would make more sense in my opinion,but you never know.

I haven't read Asunder, but from what I've read his backstory pretty much begins and ends with mage tower. I had no idea there was more info like that.

My fanaticism for Cole is new, forgive me haha.

His story does pretty much begin and end at the White spire. However at one point in the book, Rhys, Evangeline, Adrian and Wynne are in the fade, and they come across Cole's "nightmare". This is where we see Cole's childhood memories. We find out his father was abusive because of the mage "gene" in the family passed down from the mother. Rhys finds child-Cole hiding from his father in a cupboard, crying and shaking holding his dead sister. It's really emotional.. it makes you really feel for Cole (even more so than before).
Then a little later on Cole remembers the moment he stabbed his own father with his mother's knife.

If anyone can word this better than me, be my guest. My head isn't screwed on today.

I think I can confidently say it will not be American. Just a feeling. He picked up Cole's memories, emotions, his appearance - why wouldn't he pick up his accent too?

I can see why it would make sense, but Templars also seem to send kids to different circles - Rhys was born in Ferelden, the Amell Warden was born in Kirkwall etc. Granted they were a newborn and about 6 or so?

Cole was about 12 wasn't he, so maybe he was old enough to stay in his home country.

Cole's mother was implied to be Chasind, but I'm pretty sure Cole was Orlesian.
