I'd prefer an opinion like that be expressed via PM.
Then I'll edit it, though it seems I've already been quoted several times. ![]()

So why did you even bring it up again in a discussion that had nothing to do with Sera?
People were already talking about the whole "calling Cole an it" thing, I just chimed in with my own thoughts. Sera (from what we know) is the only character that does this. Why wouldn't I be talking about Sera?

At the moment, it was about people in this thread calling Cole an it. There is a difference. I was hoping we could turn down the passive aggressive level of the discussion by at least agreeing to use the proper terminology amongst ourselves. Instead, it seems it has all become properly aggressive. ![]()
(which, by the way, in the girl's case weren't intentional)
The girl specifically states she meant to set the fire and kill her family.
Yes.
I can point out that the boy Cole is twelve years old when he died and the creature Cole has the body of a twenty something, both in the book and apparently in the upcoming game, so it does not seem to age.

Also, talking about Sera's reaction to Cole is fine to discuss in this thread, as it pertains directly to the topic of this thread. Personally I'll reserve judging her character one way or the other until I meet her in the game. If I'm willing to give Cole a chance to earn my trust, I'll certainly give Sera the opportunity to evolve as well
Oh, it certainly is. It's just too bad bringing it up at that moment had to give rise to so much misunderstanding.
Again, if we're discussing Sera' reaction to Cole, I have no problem with that portrayal at all.
Also, there's no need for us to have just one discussion at a time. I do hope this back and forth doesn't scare people off who just want to post some cute fan art or a banter or something. Hell, it would lighten the mood at least, haha!
Yea ive started just not even looking at some threads because there so full of toxic and hate.

Very much this. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade. Please be merry and Cole Cuddle as you'd like.
This was my song for Cole:
Lyrics below:
Yea ive started just not even looking at some threads because there so full of toxic and hate.

The solution is if it's mostly one or two people causing the problem, just set those folks to ignore so you can't see their posts
I dont think the book actually tells us how many years have passed since the original Cole's death. All we know is that Cole died when he was 12, but somehow the spirit Cole appears about 20. Rhys doesn't actually interact with him long enough for him to visibly age during that time. We know the body needs sleep/food etc to survive. Anything about his nature beyond that is speculation. Maybe we'll find out in the game.
It could even be the original Cole's body. We're not actually sure it was destroyed. The book only tells us the evidence he existed was destroyed to hide the Templars' shame. It could be that they realized they forgot about him, discovered him missing, and destroyed the records. A wild theory I know, and there's the phylactery issue, but since we're speculating here...
In the end of Asunder when Lambert calls him a demon, it says "He wasn't real. And just like that. Cole faded away."
He is then gone until the last chapter when he returns to attack Lambert. If he had simply gone invisible, Rhys would still have been able to see him. If he was possessing a body, the body would have stayed behind when Cole(the spirit) left it to wherever he went. Like with Justice's ending slides where he gives Kristoff's wife his body back and the body drops onto her doorstep as he leaves it.
No toxic hate here, I assure you. (At least, I don't think so?) Just people with strong opinions who are never going to agree but like to hear themselves talk! (see themselves type, er... Whatever)
Well it is a forum, so rhetoric is sort of the point. Otherwise it'd be like:
Poster 1: Cole is dreamy! ![]()
Poster 2: No it isn't. ![]()
End of line. ![]()
Oooh, are we doing songs? Because I've had one sitting in my DA playlist just for him for years now ![]()
Long before you were born
You were always to be a dagger floating straight to their heart
You're not invisible, now
You just don't exist
Was she aware that she was a mage? If not, she just had the desire. She didn't actually think she'd be able to do so.The girl specifically states she meant to set the fire and kill her family.
I don't feel particularly aggressive... I rather enjoy a debate myself. I like being asked questions that make me think. Because sometimes when I think I come up with cool stuff to say...

Same here, I was rather enjoying the discussion. I apologise if my posts were causing others to become aggressive though, it wasn't my intent to do so. I understand that people grow very attached to these characters, and are always ready to "defend" them at a moments notice from the more cynical among us, but I think as long as it stays friendly then debate is a good thing. It's one of my favourite things about posting here.
"I said I didn't mean to burn it down. That's what I told them, too. But I lied." The confession spilled out of her like cold venom. "I listened to my mother, my father, all of them screaming, and I did nothing. I wanted them to burn. I'm glad they're dead."

Well, she didn't exactly say she intentionally created the fire, which is what I meant that it wasn't intentional.
I think she may have had cause or it might really have been an accident and she just wanted to sound tough. Most kids wouldn't murder their folks because they're grounded for breaking curfew. But it isn't elaborated on so, like many things regarding Cole. It is open to interpretation.

Okay I admit I was a bit skeptical on Cole when they mentioned him last week and saw his picture
...but he sparked my interest so I bought Asunder last night and finished reading it earlier today (good way to keep me busy while waiting for Solas info
) it was a very good book and I want to read it again lol. Can't wait to meet him in the game.
And about the girl that burned her house down with her parents in it...it sounds to me she did it on purpose, She pretty much confesses that she did it and she is glad that her parents are dead.

I admit to doing this sometimes. ![]()
Anyways I figure that Cole is not going to be the type to have his opinions valued. He seems to be the underdog of the whole group. Vivienne will probably not like him just for on the chance of him being a demon. Sera apparently from what we know does not like him. Varric and Cassandra I could see him being very cautious around him but indifferent. Dorian I admit is a mystery as there is not really much indication on his stance with Cole. It seems so far that Solas would be the only one to be interested in getting to know him.
What does everyone else think?
