I can say it as often as I like. Please don't presume the position of the 'high road'. You're defending a character that you even admit is a murderer. I won't tell you what you can and cannot post, and I expect the same respect.

Varric wanted to and likely in most peoples world killed his brother.  Iron Bull being a mercenary leader has killed plenty of people.  I highly doubt anybody in our group has clean hands when it comes to murder, Cole is no different.

Have gotten multiple questions about Cole. To clarify: we are very proud of his character arc, but no, he is not a love interest.

Patrick Weekes ‏@PatrickWeekes

This is not an attack on people with developmental disabilities or mental illness implying they are unworthy of love.

Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes · Hopefully clear in Cole's arc that he is in place where could not healthily consent to relationship, so making him LI would be problematic.

The difference I see is that Cole kills innocents simply to kill them. Not for revenge, or for orders, or money, or even ambition or pride. It sneaks into cells to kill people that have done it no harm and don't intend to, and Cole has only to gain the act of killing them. Cole kills to kill. I cannot agree with Iron Bull or Varrick's motivations, but I can at least relate to them. I cannot relate to Cole's. Cole kills people, quite literally, to watch them die.

I'm glad this was officially cleared up. His tweets from a few weeks ago were quite confusing and threw me off, and to me, hinted to Cole maybe being in a better state of mind - to the point a romance may be possible. Then DG's comments etc. So final confirmation is nice (: hopefully there's less hate about it now.

And it sounds like Cole's going to need a lot of love and help with his little problems.

I can't wait to meet him!

I still can't imagine how we run into Cole for recruitment. Everyone else I can picture seeking you out or you seeking them out for a number of reasons. Cole..I don't know.

Also for this thread, if someones dedicated to spamming it and over reacts to jokes about why the hair might look bad or keeps making the same exact comments over and over it is possible to just put users on ignore, trust me it can make a thread much better when someone is spamming and you don't get in arguments that get the mods on you.

I think he'll find us. I remember in Asunder, he always found Rhys first whenever Rhys went to look for him. Because he knew he could see him. And I think he'll sense that our Inquisitor will be able to, too.

That's the feeling I have anyway. ^^

To be fair, that's your perspective and opinion. I did not get that same feel of Cole's motives when I was reading Asunder. I never felt like Cole was killing because he wanted to kill. To me he was the equivalent of a lost and confused kid who got spooked and acted out of fear. I'm not going to try to change your mind, but it's a little unfair to go around stating your opinions like they're facts, especially to those who haven't read the book. :3

Yeah I definitely think he'll be the one finding us. It could be someone else in our party that can see him (I'm assuming all our companions can see him because it would make banter weird if they couldn't). And we can only recruit him after getting that companion. I'd be interesting if Solas can see him originally and makes it so the rest of us can see him.

I think everyone needs to breathe here for a sec and realize we're talking about a piece of fiction. Woosha, peeps, woosha. Furthermore Cole killed his sister by accident. Whatever possessed Cole isn't human so judging it by modern, RL human standards is dubious at best. You can hate him yourself ofc, but that doesn't make him objectively bad it just makes you unwilling to weigh every PoV. It also makes you kinda weird for trying to show your value system down everyone elses throat. Btw what makes him a repeat child killer?

Some people assume since most of Cole's murders were of apprentices, that they were children. I don't believe this is the case though, since no where did Rys or anyone else really reacted and accuse Cole of killing children. Moreover, many of his victims disappeared without the majority of circle mages noticing. It was implied that they were all old enough to begin their harrowing, which means they were probably in their late teens to twenties at the least.

I suppose "teen killer" doesn't have the same ring to it.  ;)

I saw this in another thread, and just thought I'd post it here:

(From Allan, regarding bringing Cole on a 'suicide mission' with the explicit purpose of killing him off)

It'll be nice to see your opinion of him change when he uses his nature to not only prevent the deaths of others, but to expedite the entire process ;)

Sounds like he'll be pretty bloody useful :)

There's no evidence of that.

The only person his killed in the books are some Templars and a mage girl who killed her parents by burning them alive and the girl even admits she enjoyed watching them scream.

For all we know, he only kills people who done something wrong, want to die or hurt his friends. In the book, I don't ever remember him killing an innocent person.

Also from the Solas thread: The Meerquisition! (warning: unrealistic depiction of Cole and Sera. Realistic depiction of everyone else)

Oh! Thanks for that! I read that while out and not signed in and totally forgot about it!

I'm quite curious how they will balance his powers and what advantages bringing him will hold. From Allan's comment it's safe to say there are instances where Cole can be a lifesaver! We also know that exerting his powers does seem to exhaust him and he can't do it forever/needs a break.  This is one of the things I'm most curious about... also a reason why I got the guide book.

Any chance for a link to this post? I'm curious about the context around the conversation. Also specifically the part about "expediting the entire process".
