If Cole wants to help, let him help, I say. I need all the help I get to deal with everything going on in Inquisition. And if he tries to kill someone I don't approve of killing? I'll stop him.
Cole discussion, speculation, and fan thread: "How do you know?"

@joe25 Not like that....
It's just I cant place this guy anywhere because he's just not "here" period. His history does not draw empathy from me but his "place" does. My only interests in this character is his fate and not the relationship developed with the inquisitor. *sigh* Bioware please don't screw this one up.

Hi Mr. Weekes! I wanted to ask because I'm an excited Solas fan, who did you enjoy writing Solas' banter with the most? ^^
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
Cole is probably my favorite. If you like either character, listening to their banter is a must. Also Solas/Cassandra.

I'm not trying to convince you to like him more or anything; but maybe once he has a voice (to us, obviously the devs have heard him) and eventually have a conversation with him, maybe he'll be more interesting to you? He isn't quite as fleshed out as any of the older game characters we've already interacted with. Hell, we didn't even know exactly what he looked like until a month ago?
I guess what I mean is maybe he'll be more intriguing to you when we meet him as a person in the game as opposed to just the character in the book.

I'm just still try wrap my mind around how old Cole is. In the book you think he was a fourteen year-old, but the Cole in DAI has to be eighteen to twenty. I know that some guys have a growth spurt before high school and college, but I have never see an age spurt.

He was always around 20.
At one point, Evangeline leaves herself a note so she won't forget Cole, and she mentions he looks around 20 (though evidently he doesn't act that age).

I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not, but I saw a theory somewhere on the internet the other day. It talked about how there's a possibility that Cole can be seen by others because of the Breach and rifts in the Veil, and him helping the Inquisition to close the rifts is an act of selflessness as closing more and more rifts would mean more and more people forget about him. I actually thinkt this scenario is very likely to be a part of Cole's story within the game. It's heartbreakingly tragic, but it does fit with his quote.

I think Cole stands to be a compelling character, but I keep hearing lines like "You will...but thank you for saying it anyway" in the voice of Richmond Avenal from "The IT Crowd." I am really looking forward to a VA reveal to dispel this.

There's a Cole/"From Goth to Boss" joke in here somewhere, I'm sure.

Hey! Don't give me that face!
It's a common trend now in games to have either Nolan North or, more frequently recently, Troy Baker. BioWare has to give in someday; jump on the bandwagon, so to speak. Might as well do it for their first next-gen title. ![]()

Sorry people, but a Cole-story that doesn't hurt people in the feels doesn't seem possible.
Yup. Lets be real here.

From the very beginning he was tragic and I really don't think there is going to be any good ending for him... ![]()

As much as I love Cole - in fact, he's my favourite character in the DA universe -, from a story perspective, I wouldn't have it any other way. Tragedy just fits Cole...
