Ok Ok, so I am totally on the unpopular I wanna romance Cole bandwagon..(Asunder SPOILER )
(First off, I think I should say that to me Romance doesn't necessarily mean sex ..cuz, Cole is dead and.... i have NO idea how that would work) ANYWAYS, with that being said David Gaider Wrote Cole (even tho he let someone else take him over in DA:I)
Everyone is freaking out about Cole being "a child" ... IN the book, even tho he is described as a (20 something year old man) the Spirit inside him can only seem to access Cole's detrimental childhood memories...SO he comes across as a frightened child.
Even tho i think he has a thing for Ryes... totally
I think Cole, now that he's realized what he is..(hes pretty strong and confident in the last page of the book). is going to be totally different...and no longer "Child Like"... perhaps he can access the rest of Cole's memories and we can see what happened between ages 11 to 20 to land him in the circle.
I think/hope Cole will be a Romanceable Bisexual option weather that romance means "sex" or just an unbreakable bond (which should be up to whoever chooses that option)
He's totally exactly like Tate Langdon from American horror story.. fan-girl to the extreme
Cole was confirmed not to be romanceable a week or more ago over twitter.
Gaider has said Cole is not a child, not childlike, and his comments pertained purely to the fact that Cole is not socially developed enough to consent to a relationship. The fandom believing Cole is a child came from over-exaggerating and misunderstanding a previous statement by Gaider when Asunder first came out.
Also Cole is not "dead". I mean, the human Cole is dead. But spirit Cole isn't him. He's most likely a physically manifested spirit/demon. Hence his label as a "The Spirit". I very much doubt he's possessing the dead Cole or anything like that.

Um... what? That doesn't really make any sense. Am I missing a joke?
Loli = underaged girl
Shota = underaged boy.
Unless you meant lolicon/shotacon which pertains to the people that are... "into" them. Which still makes no sense.
Gaider has already stated Cole isn't a human or a child(mentally or physically) so continuing to believe so is basically just ignoring facts at this point.
It was a joke. But yes, loli-shota is the term people use for those who like cutesy, younger boys. Think Honey in Ouran High Host Club, if you've seen it.

Yes, I've seen it. But I have never seen the term loli-shota ever. And I'm not going to google it because that's nasty.
As I already explained those... are two different things. Shota, in itself refers to under aged cutesy boy archetypes in anime, but a shotacon is the person that is "into" it. A "shota" is the character itself. Unless this is a new trend in the anime community I'm not aware of, which makes no sense.
And since Cole isn't a child, it's pretty irrelevant.

Honey himself was referred to as a loli-shota, but no, don't google it. You'll probably regret it. But let's just leave it, because it's not worth getting into.

Ah, okay. Just going to Honey's page had an explanation. Never seen that term used outside of Ouran though. Most people just use the term "shota" for the whole archetype.
I wouldn't really consider any character from DA games to fill any anime archetypes either. A lot of those are aspects of Japanese culture that you only see in anime for that reason.

I'm glad we can't romance Cole.
He's an interesting character for certain and I'm intrigued to see how his story plays out in Inquisition, but given that he's (physically) in his 20's yet has the mind of a child, it'd be like asking if we could romance Sandal!
(And for the love of sanity, no-one post that gif)

Cole doesn't have the "mind of a child". Fandom over exaggeration. He is simply not socially developed enough to consent to a relationship. One doesn't need to be "mentally a child" to not be able to give consent.
What I said previously is that Cole is effectively a child -- not that he has the mind of a child.
And that was specifically in the context of being asked about romancing him. Cole is not socially developed enough to comfortably give consent, at least not in the way that we picture it. Others may imagine otherwise, and that's fine, but we're not going to write that story.
That does not apply to anything else, or imply that he is childlike in general. Be careful when you read interpretations about him, and don't mistake them to be things that we've actually said regarding his appearance in DAI.

Just because he's not a LI in game doesn't mean we can't be loving person in Cole's life. Heaven only knows that boy needs a loving person to mentor him.

So I have to admit, I largely want to talk to Cole because I want to learn more about the nature of spirits and fade things. I like the Dalish view how the fade is just another land and the creatures there while dangerous are just other beings living in their homeland. I'd love to learn more about how they work and what they're like without being influenced by the minds of those not in the fade (or if they can exist at all under those circumstances)

HE IS WEARING THE HAT, now how am I gonna be expected to take it off of him?! It's apart of him now. Or maybe any hat you put him in magically transforms into the hat? Whatever, he's going hat-less if that's the case because I wanna see his little smush face.
Also, I noticed at the very end of the video (~2:30m) that he seems to cast some sort of spell? Or throws a glowing blue ball, anyways, that certainly looks magical in nature. Could be a potion/bomb/poison with glow-y artistic license, I suppose.

I was hoping to *actually* see him in action for once but ohwell... there is like a single second of him getting knocked back by a demon and using some sort of move on the dragon... and his portrait. That hat... I wonder if he really loves it. It's his "style". It's too cute. ![]()
