Oh gawd, his Cole-soundtrack is Sarah McLachlan songs? Oh gawd, oh gawd, brace yourselves, ladies.
I've had the notion in my head that Cole's story will turn out to be a Thane-esque, unavoidable tragedy in the end and this is not helping.
Ahem. And gents.

They were talking about the Combat video specifically and at 2:30 seconds in we see Dorian throwing blue stuff. The person thought that was Cole but Cole is actually flying through the air in that scene. If you pause it you can tell. Cole is the one wearing the raiden hat.
Spoiler
Edit: oh you thought I was talking about the daggers you mentioned. I was talking about someone from the last page who said Cole was throwing blues stuff. My bad, I should have quoted the original post I was addressing too.

It's okay with all the colorful attacks it is easy to get them mixed up. I should have done some fact checking before posting.

Ugh, rereading Asunder and realizing how much I want to hear a blurb of in-game Cole talking (as opposed to just hearing his VA in random out of context interviews). When I read Leliana/Wynne/Shale's parts, I read them in "their" voice and I wish I could do the same with him. Also...

Rejuvenating how much I like Cole as a character...and also maybe getting me a little more hyped despite the launch date pushback.

I'm trying to stay out of the fandom as much as possible for this reason. I know mostly all I want, although that doesn't stop me from checking the Twitter thread and watching all the videos hoping he'll be in one... ![]()
I get too many Cole feels to keep dwelling on it. I wasted almost an entire month just perusing these forums and /tagged/DA on tumblr. If they posted a video with Cole speaking/being shown I'd get sucked back in. So maybe, I'm glad they haven't. ![]()

Whoa....
Can't wait to show this!
Judging by the ridiculous hat, I'm guessing that's Cole...
Edit: don't hate me I just had to...

I know that the tweets about the pants glitch happened a while ago, but any time one of the Devs brought it up I kept thinking of this Dr Seuss story:
Spoiler
Cole was so very brave, wearing schleets without fear
But with minds of their own, they just wouldn't stay here!
No belts, seams, or buckles could keep them at bay
And so, sadly, Cole's pants just kept running away.

Is that Cole in that screenshot? I've been looking at it trying to figure it out, I had assumed Solas at first but looking at it more it looks like Cole from the way he's standing. Is that the brim of the hat or a popped collar?
Kinda too hard to tell to assume anything really...
Oh no if they show Cole at Gamescon... ![]()

Pretty sure it's Cole and it's his hat, not a collar. I think it's the same hat from the combat video. You can see it here.
Edit: actually it might just be this hat

So the idea that Cole is the Maker. How much has this been discussed, if at all? Personally, I don't like the idea as it comes off as a bit to heavy handed "Oh the people forgot about God, but he's still there...doing his mumbo jumbo." Generally, I just prefer that the religious side of Dragon Age stay as ambiguous as possible as it serves the story better that way.

It hasn't been discussed here in this thread at least. Not sure if it has anywhere else on the forums. I normally only watch the twitter thread and this one. We've theorized a lot about what he could possibly be though. That normally stays within the realm of demon/spirit/abomination/shade/ash wraith/lost soul turning into a spirit/demon, etc. etc. I think the only existing character he was theorized to might be is The Formless on this thread.

? Where does that theory come from?
I assumed he was just a spirit of compassion that was getting effected by being in the mortal world/whatever bonding it did with the child Cole.
I know I've heard of the "Maker was a powerful fade spirit" theory before but you'd think if he was Cole he'd not be so easily taken over by emotions of a dead kid, I mean he'd have been used to interacting with mortals before (Andraste).

Not compassion, I'm afraid. It has a strong bound with pain and despair (according to the book).

Bioware has said they are leaving the Maker ambiguous.

I am NOT telling anyone they should not like Cole (figure I have to get that out of the way first).
After reading Asunder, I am going to have to do some serious metagaming not to attack him immediately.
He murders mages simply for, well, why exactly? We know he won't disappear if he doesn't murder them. We know he's "possibly" drinking in their souls. We'll have to see what it is exactly he did to Lambert. Because they: "Want to die." is not a good reason to kill someone and then do "something" to them.
Lambert is completely correct about everything he says about Cole - there's nothing indicating he's not a demon that totally manipulated Rhys.
Note: "IF" he's a manipulative demon - do you think Bioware would write in his Bio. "I'm Cole, and I'm going to manipulate your Inquisition to my own ends!!! Mwahahahaah."
Seeing as I don't find mindless devotion to the point of murder as a great quality... I cannot see any aspects of Cole in Asunder that were anything BUT demonic.
====
So why am I posting in the fan thread?
I'm honestly really baffled and curious what people see in this thing.
Note 2: The Cole we meet isn't the Cole that died. It's a simulacrum. So the "feels" for the daddy abuse... doesn't apply to this thing for me.
Lastly, I repeat, I am not trying to crap on anyone's love for Cole. Love away. You're in your own game, so by all means. I just feel strongly against him and I'd like some differing opinions.

It's not a human, so It's not bounded by human morality. It did what must be done for survival. This wasn't necessary, of course, but It haven't seen alternative, It was scared and lost. Once It realized that killing people isn't necessary, It had stop murders.
"Spirits embodying virtues may be considered benevolent (or at least not malevolent)".
According to Wiki It's rather a spirit then a daemon, but this is about terminology, not what It is. I'd say It is neutral and can decide by itself what It should be. It tries to be good kind - and that we respect and love It.
Nope. He thought Cole (the boy) wasn't even exist, but this is not true. As for the mind control. Cole didn't realize himself as a daemon, It honestly believed hi's a boy. So why exactly It should convince anyone of this? That makes no sense.Lambert is completely correct about everything he says about Cole
The creature we've seen at the and of the book definitely is no more that boy (this is just a part of It's experience). But I think It deserves to take chance to be a good kind. It's welcome.
