So I just discovered these unused assets through an anonymous and kelgrid. Considering Cole's style, this is highly likely to be some of his armor that ended up not being used for whatever reason.

So...this armor might actually be in game. I was watching this gameplay video and I'm pretty sure it's the same set or at least very similar.

 

Edit: the coat and hat are very similar, not so sure about the pants (everything below the waist)

Why wouldnt it be an option? We can customize the clothes and armor of our companions.

So much for that if you cant even remove a simple hat.

You can change their outfits, but companions will alter everything to fit their personal motif.

 

And you can still turn on 'hide helmet.'

Really liked this one! I gotta say, I'm almost done with the book Asunder and if Sera continues to diss Cole throughout the game I'd personally look the other way if he decides to just shank the hell outta her.

I liked the companions killing each other thing from BG2. It illustrated how disparate your party could be. There was a real risk to bringing a genuinely evil character and a righteously good character together. And some of them, like Minsc, would straight up kill you if your actions were incompatible with their morals. It'd be cool to see that in play in da:i. Maybe not so extreme, but maybe more recognition of the huge variation in some of the companions' world views. There is some extreme variation. It makes sense someone like Serah wouldn't even want to recognize Cole. He really is way outside a lot of the character's experiences.

A scenario that I think would be very interesting in game would be if Cole were to come across the family of one of the people it "helped" in the Spire. How would Cole react? How would the bereaved?

It's not likely to happen, for Cole has apparently been morphed into a bit of an alignment scale for the purposes of the game, but I still find it impossible to empathize with Cole, at least the character from Asunder, given the characters actions and how it affected innocents and their assumed families. These people were already lost once then Casper the stabby ghost comes along and denies them a future at all; whether it be pleasant or painful.

Not like to happen, in order to maintain this state of naive innocence the narrative seems to have adopted for the character, but I would like to see some reference to the futures lost and the families left behind due to Cole's "compassion" (whether that compassion is real or imagined).

I think it's safe to assume that the family of that 'innocent' Mage girl that Cole kills at the beginning won't be all that broken up about it. On account of them having been burned alive, and all...

As for the others, I really think it could go both ways.
Cole seems to understand his actions better now, and the impact they have on those around him. He also seems highly attuned to other people's distress, so I would think being confronted with the fallout from his actions would be quite the eye-opener for him.
On the other hand, it's possible he would be unapologetic, even if he did feel a bit guilty. Given that Cole's experience of captivity is that it leads to a slow and terrifying death in one of the most painful ways, I doubt he'd have been very optimistic about those Mage's chances, and genuinely believed that he was doing them a favour by offering a quick end. It would actually be quite satisfying to see him stick to his guns like that.

I do think that some of his past deeds will crop up in DAI, and I think that will probably split the fanbase. And I think of lot of Cole's reception will depend on how he is first introduced to the player.
