And while I don't think I'd be able to play an as affectionate Inquisitor as Exaltation, I'd definitly put an arm around his shoulders - if my Inquisitor is tall enough - did you notice how TALL Cole is?! - or give him a kiss on the cheek if the situation tempts me to do it. - When playing female Inquisitor.

Male Inquisitor would go more the big bro route. Which.. Iron Bull might do as well, from what I hear?

Yes, I’ve noticed. How can he become one of the tallest? He never exposed to sufficient sunlight as far as I know.

He sure has a pleasant sounding voice. I mean, I've only heard him say one proper full line without any distracting side noise, which is in Enemies of Thedas Trailer. But I like how surprised he sounds. The voice actor has a really ... melodious (spelling?) voice :3

He said "They were hurting and we helped. Their lives are better because of us." after we rescued those people in Gamescom demo, and we got +5 Approval from him. Depending on the huge number of people we have to rescue, I imagine this approval point will grow really fast XD

There are no black and white certainties, there are only reflections of your inner side, and judgments should depending on actions, not labels.

 

BTW, I don't think Cole needs any noble sympathies, he is strong and fierce.

While its true its still not a certainty. Demons are always dangerous but I suspect we are talking about spirits here. Sure they can be dangerous but spirit healers and in general mages who commune with spirits almost never summon them into the waking world, not the spirits are interested in it anyway, they tap into the fade and gain power from the spirits. Evidently the Templar order officially allows spirit healers to exist because the benefits far outweighs the risks.

Like an alien a spirit cannot function normally in the waking world like it does in the fade. The strongest entity of the fade known as spirits of hope have always chosen to ignore mortals since the beginning of time. We know they exist but no one has ever saw one unless in a dream. It is said that if a dreaming mage wanders to a domain of spirit of hope in the fade its the safest place on fade because no demon dares to enter and the spirit will ignore the mortal regardless. So you see the strongest spirit does not even want to have anything to do with mortals. I say spirits can be tolerated and trusted but it can be dangerous because the outcome can indeed be dangerous like Anders and Justice.

As i said earlier there is nothing to these beings beyond their attribute, there is no depth, no understand, no true life.

In order to make that claim we need to clarify the fact that whether demons and spirits are fundamentally different beings or demons are simply perverted form of their spirit brethren. But we can't really do it as there is no proof. The only proof is color, lol believe it or not. All demonic abominations and demonic powers glow red whereas spirit possession and powers glow blue.

Also I was clearly talking about tolerating and trusting spirits WITHOUT summoning them into waking world. Also chantry does say spirits are "good".

I think of the Fade as basically Neil Gaiman's dream.

Justice is anthromorphic Justice.

Sloth is anthromorphic Sloth.

And so on and so on.

 

You can't say Justice is good or evil, but he LOOKS like good.

Well I did use quotation for a reason, the chantry sees spirits as pure and harmless and spirit healers are more than tolerated, welcomed even.

And I said there is no real proof regarding difference of spirits and demons, there is only the tiny color bit which I'm not taking as serious proof but it is a point to consider.

There are cultural differences in how spirits are viewed, and the Chantry does seem to make a distinction by saying some are "benign" spirits and others are "demons", according to the Andrastian codex entries "The Maker's First Children" and "Beyond the Veil: Spirits and Demons". Anders echoes this cultural and religious perspective as well:

 

Anders: Do Dalish honestly not recognize the difference between demons and beneficial spirits? 

 

Merrill: We've never thought of the Fade as the home of our gods. It is another realm, another people's home. No different or more foreign than, say, Orzammar.

Considering how Cole is a spirit, I wonder how the Dalish and Vashoth protagonist can respond to him (since he likely won't hide his nature as a spirit), since the People are cautious about all spirits of the Beyond, and the qunari traditionally view the Fade as the 'Land of the Dead' (although the protagonist may not follow any of the traditional views of the qunari, since they don't follow the Qun).

Excactly so! Spirits are spirits. Just like humans are humans. Any human could be good or evil, or neutral even, we should judge each of them by its motives and doings, not just what it is.

Well he could be a lot of things. We don't really know the full gamut of what spirits can be, do we? They can probably be super specific to certain feelings or emotions or things that aren't emotions but get called them anyway.

The consensus of these forums tend to lean towards a spirit of compassion or a demon of despair. I prefer despair, or at least a demon because... well Paarthurnax says it best: "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" Plus, the little bit in the interview with Patrick Weekes: "He would rather be a spirit. He's trying." This might imply that he's not a "good" spirit, since he actually has to put forth effort to be considered one. Or I suppose entities like Justice has tarnished the images of spirits so badly that no matter what Cole does, he's constantly fighting the tide of suspicion or hatred. (Which, funny enough, is reflected in some of the fanbase)
