I'm fairly certain that everything is connected somehow, old gods/dragons, the power of blood/lyrium, the veil being "man made", the elven gods/the maker, spirits/demons, darkspawn, all of it. We just don't have enough pieces to complete the puzzle yet. And Cole is right there, smack dab in the middle of it, being just as complex. ![]()

I think the Old Gods and the elven gods might just be various creatures that exist in Thedas that are extremely powerful, but not really gods. Possibly the Old Gods are very powerful dragons and the Elven gods are just unique spirits. The repetition of music in the lore is interesting, though. I have to think it all connects together.

I feel the same way. I think they are all just spirits/demons and the archdemons aren't related to the Old Gods in any way except the names given to them by mortals.I think the Old Gods and the elven gods might just be various creatures that exist in Thedas that are extremely powerful, but not really gods.

I will be the most surprised if Cole is a human. There's too much about him that just seems completely different, like his ability to hear the darkspawn's song.

That makes sense to me as well.

Spoiler
The demon was probably twisting the truth to get Rhys all self doubt and confused, even if it mentioned before that the truth is all the more interesting to do it doesn't mean it was telling the truth the whole time.
Cole sees dark things in Lambert as well, but we don't know what was going on with him (maybe we'll get a sidequest or companion story line with Lambert to figure out what in the even heck was going on at the end of Asunder) and only Cole was able to sense something off about Wynne. But Wynne never made it a point to what Cole was, only saying she had no idea what was up with him. Whether or not she knew anything about Cole is now taken to the grave with her.

I almost wonder if there's more than just spirits and demons. Or alternatively, where do spirits and demons even originate. Have they always existed or are they being killed off and new ones being made somehow (within the fade itself)? I've sort of thought about the whole when you die, you pass through the Fade to get to "the Maker's side" and how souls can get lost in the Fade. Do these people get perversed into spirits eventually? If they did I assume their most potent quality would be their type of spirit/demon. If this were the case, maybe Cole's spirit is new and doesn't know anything from anything.

I don't think many people read the books, and that leads to not many people doing art involving him until he makes it into a main series game/into Inquisition.
It does seem with the demons and spirits thing they're rather black and white, no real middle ground. They said repetitively that they don't have ghosts, but I oddly remember a few cases of something like it, certainly with sort of zombieish things going on, surprising they where so sure about ghosts not being a thing.

Aw, our excitement seems to be waning. We need a new screenshot up in here or something soon to get the hype train rolling again. Considering Cole had a whole book I'm not going to expect info anytime soon...but maybe a screenshot here and there though...

The one in Masked Empire kind of walked the border of neutral/evil. Closer to evil for sure but wasn't one normally associated with demons. We are definitely seeing a larger spectrum as time goes on.

I would love more screenshots of Cole! I would love to draw his face accurately (because apparently that face sketch I did a while back may be very off now... hopefully not too much so...)

I am hoping that they do start showing more screenshots with the companions, certainly with Cole now after the big gameplay trailer they did. After a large flood of info, they have to hold back and will wait until it's quieted down again so then they keep the hype at a steady pace.
I want to see his Follower Friday/Whenever thing. It'll be great to get all the close up details of him, and figure out how his outfits will look like. I'm guessing bummish kinda like Solas. Desperate need of a shopping day with Vivienne.

Considering we saw the whole line up on a random day for the gameplay trailer, I have a feeling we'll get another look at E3. Even though I'm a pessimist...I'm expecting big things at E3.

If this is Cole I would like to know which side of his personality we will see. Will we see the awakened spirit side of Cole with his third person limited-omniscient knowledge of his host life (like Justice). Or, are we going to see the mentally challenged, abused, and non-socialized child side of Cole that was present through most of the book.

E3 tends to be their larger reveal things, maybe Pax Prime as well but if EA does their big thing again Dragon Age will certainly be one of their front runners being closer and closer to the release date. I have a feeling the next follower we're getting is Iron Bull, and Cole being the last one. Since out of alllll the information on the companions, Cole has the less out of all of them.
I don't think it'll be a separated entity situation, seems more like he would embrace the Cole persona (I get the feeling he does because he still goes by Cole and running around as Cole, unless there's vastly different information behind the scenes compared to the ones we have)

So an a abomination with autism and a personality that has stop growing at age ten. I like where this story is going. Cole, proving that just because you have a mental handicap doesn't mean you cannot save the day. you've got to love Bioware's sense of diversity that grounds it's games in realism through real word issues.

I'm just going to chalk that under you probably don't understand Coles character at all and move along from that, since it's complicated and can't just be simplified like that. (The autism spot the most, he's not in anyway autistic aside from social awkwardness and that is caused by isolation)
Anyways, I'm hoping Gaider will give more teases, if anything he is probably going to do it for a dark laugh with little context to what the situation is. I've always heard he's known to do that sort of stuff and only seen small touches of that here and there with his teasings.

I read Asunder twice and still find Cole hard to reed. The character does suffer from a somewhat antisocial personality that comes from the effects of child abuse and a lack socialization for the age of 10 to 12 (makes for a unreliable narrator). I just identified it with autistic behavior because I grew up and worked with a friend that had this condition. I am sorry if I offended you, but that was the way I read Cole. I saw him as a character that was suffering some form of mental disorder. I'll just say Cole is a complex character that is hard to summarize in few word.

PAX Prime is eons larger than East usually, so I expect to have much more revealed there. (plus it's so close to the date)
E3 isn't supposed to be as ~extravagant~ this year, or at least as much as it was last year, but I hope to find out more.
I also think Cole will be the last, along with the Grey Warden right before him.

Having personally been put into classes for much of my youth and young adult life where it had kids/young teens with mental disorders like Autism before it became the thing that it is today (I'm not autistic btw, I was in those classes because they didn't know what to do with me since I am dyslexic and antisocial) , having me been at their level and been treated in a similar fashion because of the ignorance of the system, I can see how it can be viewed as it but there is a massive difference. Cole shows more the signs of a person suffering from depression then autistic if he was summarized as a few words.
His attempt to explain his feelings to Rhys about the 'fading away' feelings are toe to toe how depression is generally described by a person who has it. Isolation creates this social barrier which makes his speech slower and without anyone to socialize with he didn't get any sort of growth which has happened with children who are not socialized in anyway remaining in this very basic way of communication and thinking.
I'm not offended by the way, I just feel because they're such major things that it shouldn't be so quick to compare it to. Autism is a thing a person is born with, Cole was clearly not born this way and is more a product of his situation.

And the bets are placed! Who will get their follower monthly! Guh I just wish they didn't hold off on the April Follower thing, had they done it before the release mass it would have been nice. Next month I wonder if they'll do two or continue with the 1. I remember someone mentioning a theory about how the time between the release date and the follower Fridays had matched up to around oct before the actual date was released a week later.
E3 was really disappointing last year, since it's become less of a community event and more of a business event. I have heard stories of gamers going there and being badgered by suits who didn't understand each others existence. E3 used to be this big thing, but it looks like Pax has been moving into a more fun community thing where you can get more info rather then sitting in an awkward crowd that puts in clap tracks in the videos to make the people seem more excited.
Here's hoping Pax and E3 though shows off some of the features and characters. It would be so great to see the character creator.

Yeah, I think it was more that way because of the next-gen releases and info. With less of that, I imagine things will be like they used to.
I would love for E3 or Prime to show a CC, that's literally the only thing I care about currently.

Cole doesn't show signs of antisocial personality disorder, which is a disorder primarily focused in malevolence. I believe you're thinking of avoidant personality disorder, due to his social anxiety issues. This is a common mistake people make regarding the two disorders. Unless you actually meant he does harbor sociopathic tendencies, to which I would absolutely disagree.
I don't believe Cole has an actually personality disorder, though. I think he's just grown accustomed to being unseen and needs time to adjust. Through the book, you see him becoming more comfortable with people. It's just a sudden shock, I think. I don't think it's something inherent in his personality.

Yeah, Cole is definitely more AvPD than ASPD if he has one.
