Cole is the only character in all of Dragon Age I have a intense hatred for.
I'm looking forward to see if Inqusition can change that.
Why do you hate him? I found him very interesting, and I really liked him, aside from all the murdering.

holy hell hes ugly
yeah I don't think he's that cute from that screen, but I love him nevertheless
My woobie sense is tingling... His origins do not deter me in any way shape or form! I did have to google it though as I haven't read Asunder. I am excited for more information and fan theories! /crosses fingers for possibility of more deliciously corrupt romances
I wrote a (sort of lengthy, sorry) synopsis of him in Asunder on the old forums. If you want to read up but not read Asunder itself, here it is. Although I'd just suggest reading Asunder, since it sets up at least some aspects of the story in Inquisition.

He's a insane spirit that murders people for pleasure.
Hopefully Inqusition will make me see something else.

lmfaooooo
There's a video with Cole in it? Omgomgomgomg
Well, I'm pretty thrilled that he's in DAI then! I just hope that his story arc won't be all about finding Rhys and Evangeline again, that would get old real fast.
*holds list of people I thought/wanted to be third rogue*
*sees Cole in trailer*
*crumples up paper*

Well, I worked hard on that list. ![]()
I'm happy Cole made it to the game. I feel it, I'm gonna like him... So my dream party may consist now of Cole / Warden / DHMG.
Yeah, I can't see anyone other than David writing him.
Like others I had pictured Cole having a shorter, slimmer build than that. Interesting.
Re: "how will they deal with the whole everyone forgets him thing" - isn't it sort of implied at the end of Asunder that Cole has basically learned how to or gained control over his abilities? Maybe he can now control whether people forget him or not. Also I'm sure the Veil tears have changed things somewhat for spirits/demons/magic etc in Thedas.
bye keith
He is not how I imagined him at all! But I can't wait to meet him. Even after reading the book I really don't know what to expect from him, should be interesting.
Oh goodie I come home and there's a Cole thread 8D
I am so unbelievably happy to see him in the game, I mean I could write an essay on him and his character with how I enjoy his character and his growth throughout the Asunder book. Then how he may possibly be in the actual game himself. Ahhh ahhh I don't even know where to begin.
But I do find it funny that he looks really big, but I think it's because he surrounded by the shortest people in the team so it just has this illusion that he's massive to the skinny elf and shorty dwarf. I always had pictured him as small and scrawny as an Elf, but he is described as a possibly 20something year old man. He must have found some sammiches when he got out of the White Spire.
...Also does this mean that the rogue here http://media.pcgamer...2014/03/DA6.jpg is actually Cole?
Cole isn't an insane spirit that kills for pleasure. From what it says at the end of Asunder, it sounds more like it was a spirit of mercy/pity which is why originally it always went to people who wanted to die. Considering that they were mages stuck in the Templar dungeons that is hardly surprising. Also the original Cole had a very strong desire to be forgotten which is why originally people forgot him almost as soon as they had seen him. Then it seems to overcome this compulsion because it doesn't want to upset Rhys so even when Pharamond wanted to die it couldn't do it. Finally when Lambert shows such a lack of mercy/pity it comes back to get him - a bit like Justice turning into vengeance. I note that the map on this site shows a flag concerning Lambert, saying that he is missing, presumed dead, so apparently Cole didn't leave a body for the others to find, may be because he didn't want any mages blamed for it.
The reason he seemed confused was because of his mixed emotions/memories, particularly after they had been in the Fade, so more of the old Cole had surfaced. We used to believe that spirits could only exist outside the Fade if they had a host, either living or dead, but it is clear from Masked Empire that a spirit/demon can exist independently provided it is strong enough and also they have the ability to make themselves or other people invisible. They also seem to have the ability to appear solid even without a host body.
If the rogue guy is Cole I would imagine he would be something akin to Justice in Awakening, still retaining something of the original Cole's identity but more developed in his own right and with some interesting Fade powers. If that is the case then he could be very interesting indeed. May be he will also be able to tell us what happened to Lambert. Just remember if he says "Look into my Eyes" run the other way.
He looks cool in trailer, but his character kinda scares me. Not sure if I would feel confident enough to have him around.
Regardless of my disappointment, congratulations to the Cole fans.

Ah! Thank you for that! I've been away from the DA fandom for so long, I've missed a lot! Reading spoilers also doesn't deter me from reading/playing stuff. I just kind of have issues with reading for long periods of times so I don't very often. It does seem like it's very important though, argh. I have a feeling he wont be romanceable though. I'll have to settle on crushing on him.
From his description and character type he definitely seemed like he'd be slimmer. Although I quite like the tall I have no complaints about that. But I'd think he'd be tall and lanky. I hope it's not a case of same-body sharing. I was able to look past Alistair's muscles though so in the end it's not a big deal. I care much more about what type of character and personality they have then anything else.
He must have found some sammiches when he got out of the White Spire.

You saw one thing, I saw another then. Enough, I did not post it to create animosity towards anyone and their opinion, just to state that I hope bioware does a good job of writing him. Hopefully he will change my mind.
He looks...bigger than I imagined him.
