Why do I keep thinking that Cole will be released the last? Maybe it's just my bad luck, but I'm pretty sure of it

It's pretty sad to see all the other companion discussions with posts from writers/allan and are up to 50 pages. Maybe they aren't commenting here since he hasn't been officially shown/previewed really. I'm actually leaning more towards Cole being announced sooner. Since people wouldn't know him unless you read Asunder and he's only been shown in the background of the trailer. No official art or anything yet... Unless they want him to be a game surprise? Maybe not a good idea to get ones hopes up too much.

To be fair, we got a whole book about Cole. I'm alright with him being last, or one of the last for info, but I'd love some art or a screenshot here and there (not specifically of him, but that he's just present in). There's other companions we know far less about; like Sera, Iron Bull, DHMG/Dorian, Grey Warden. We even technically know less about Vivienne than Cole. Well, those of us that have read the book. The info is out there if people wish to indulge though.

This thread is much newer than the rest too. And considering we've only seen one in game image and the little thing from the leaked survey, I'm guessing Cole is supposed to be pretty deep under wraps for surprise purposes or something. The no dev thing is sort of weird. My best guess is they might be actively trying to avoid posting here because of previously mentioned super secret surprise marketing purposes. Technically that might not actually be Cole in the last video, but yeah...the likelihood it is him is way too high. Too much potential, cryptic tweets, etc. etc.

Oh no! I don't even want to think that all my hopes are in vain.

That's definitely Cole. It has to be him. That's one of the reasons I am so excited to see the game itself...

DG doesn't want to share Cole with other ppl, he wants Cole just for himself )) And I can totally understand it. But nevertheless, I suppose that Cole is just the surprise companion and the devs don't want to spoiler all the way through. I would also appreciate a few screenshots or an art of Cole, though.

I had heard that a previous older Cole thread was closed down due to off topic and lots of mean comments that brought no discussion about Cole. Which is why we have this newier one here, and it's been very clean all things considering.

 

I do hope the new format will be something along the lines of smaller updates but much more often. I heard in the tweets they're reformating the Follower Fridays since if they where doing each character they wouldn't be able to release all of them before the game is out. 

 

With the lack of Cole, I get the feeling there's so little info on him because he was one of the last ones actually finished up and put into the game. It was maybe what, a month or so ago Gaider posted about seeing a model of a character of his? My guess it's Cole, since Cole seems to be one of his favs with the tumblr posts and just how he talks with such heart about Cole. I got this really weird feeling that he would have been a DLC character if they didn't get the extra time they have gotten to work on the game. That's all entirely speculation, and me just sort of over thinking things.

I am glad that there's no haters here, or at least they act decent. I noticed that Cole threads here and on russian forums seem to be more quiet, kind and all "ponies and rainbows" than that of any other character And it's great, really. I wouldn't want to see rude arguments here.

Also, Cole is barely the DLC character as they told us there will be no DLC characters anymore. But yes, it's likely they have finished him not so long ago and don't have enough material to post on Follower Fridays.

Aye that's what I meant about the DLC thing. They got enough time to not have DLC characters like before, and where probably extremely happy to no longer have it because of the scorn and just the idea of having to not have the character there in time for the game release. No DLC means all the intended characters get in in time for release, unlike other DLC characters we've had in the past. 

 

I wonder if the Cole loathing stopped because he pop'd up in the trailer and kinda hard to denies it's him? I remember seeing posts of when people where theorizing the companion list when Cole was mentioned they would get all in a huff at the idea of him taking a slot and was very scorned to the idea of him being there. Ah well there's loads of interesting discussion about him in here... which is starting to dry up a little bit since I think all the points of Cole has been hit.

 

Oh no I hope some info on him starts seeping into the light just a little bit. At least enough to have more speculations on about.

I'm genuinely surprised by how nice people have been here so far. On the old forums if anyone brought up Cole, there'd be at least 3 of the same people basically saying "nope, do not want" or "I HOPE I CAN KILL HIM ASAP" after every.single.mention of him.

 

Edit: It just got really old and I stopped trying to even talk about Cole there. I felt like "alright guys, we all get it, you don't like Cole. Can you move on please?"

I don't like his personality in the book. He was typical Bio Man. I hope in DAI he will be different because I like his apperiance in game. He is handsome but he isn't too pretty.

I also hope he is LI because there are only two good looking characters - Cole and Grey Warden.

Mr. Mosutache looks too gay for me. And he is mage. I don't like them.

When I am looking at new Cole I remeber Gellert Grindelwald.  I don't know why but when I think about DAI Cole as version of him.

Ooook since I'm not sure I know how to respond to the current tangent...I'ma start a new tangent! I was thinking earlier and was wondering; maybe when we meet/acquire Cole it'll be under the guise as the "Ghost of the Spire". Maybe he'll be harassing any templars (still chantry alligned or red templars, either way it could work) that remained in the building and we're sent there to investigate this disturbance. Not going to lie...that moniker would make it a whoooooooooole lot easier to distinguish him from other "Cole"s when searching stuff...

 

speaking of searching for stuff, I'm sort of running out of Cole fan art to post! Only a handful left and I've been trying to space them out for one a page.   thankfully they upped the posts per page to 25!

Oh, I wonder if he'll be far away from the tower, he wouldn't really be the 'Ghost of the Spire' if he was far away from the tower. Wonder if we can actually go there in game? Though by the sounds of the end of the book, the Spire is rather bonk'd and rubbley Him attacking Templars would make sense... and the last sentance in the leaked spoiler makes me think he is is scooting around being naughty. Maybe. I have trouble trying to figure out a meeting for him, how we run across him (or how he finds our Inquisitor and awkward follows them around).

 

Except for the idea you catch him stealing snacks, I really need a new meeting vision in my head for Cole :I

From what I'm reading some people would want to kill him. While I'm looking forward to getting Cole as a companion, I now hope there's a chance to kill him. Because I'd want others to wish the same for me and my dream to kill Cullen.

There's always been a chance to kill or betray all the companions in the games isn't there? So keeping with that tradition wouldn't surprise me for Inquisition.

I think in Origins you could get rid of everyone one way or another (or never recruit them in the first place). I think in DA2 there were some that were with you regardless of what you did if I remember right. I think I remember devs saying you could basically do the same and not recruit/dismiss/kill companions in Inquisition like you could in Origins...I don't remember the source though so don't take this as true.

The only one in DA2 you couldn't get rid of was Varric since he was the narrator I think then I'd imagen Anders as well since he's so tied into the ending, but I have heard stories of people completely missing getting characters and some not even knowing that some of them existed.

 

Since it's so open world now, I wonder how we're going to stumble upon the characters...

You can lose companions, but some of them you can't kill. Like, Sebastian and Isabela. They can be lost or even just skipped, but you can't kill them, that I'm aware of.

 

I hope you can't kill Cole, because that means there's a better chance he can come back again in some capacity for a future game.
