The hat is clearly Cole's way to compensate for the fact that people keep forgetting him. They might not remember him but they will always remember the ambulatory hat.

This. I would love it if that was the reason.

But it will probably be something like the sun hurts him. Which would make sense since Cole's been in the dungeons of the White Spire for who knows how long. I doubt it's very bright down there even with torches lit. I mean after years of wearing sunglasses outside it hurts my eyes (and gives me a headache) if I don't wear them outside now.

This is how we meet him? Judging by the cloth? Darkspawn?

Blackwall: cole say something interesting
Cole: something interesting?
I swear to god, if they worked a "who's on first" routine into this game I'll die laughing?

Yeah, Seems that Blackwall/Solas/Cole would be Team  MIND BLOWN , and will be popular with players who like psychedelic experiences and people who like Beckett, Milorad Pavitch and innovative things.

This will be my main cast for first play.I expect to learn a lot of new things from such psychedelic experience :P

He's not exactly a living person. What did you expect? Prince Charming?

Eh...I can't really blame the Templars for that.

He was a murderer.

Are you referring to thing withe Cole number one's dad and sister? Or do you mean the plot of Asunder? That whole family thing I chalk up as a concerned terrified kid trying to protect himself and his sister from someone he knows intends them harm.

But the messy haircut is what makes him look adorable!

I can see the Templars not bothering with a murderer and actually bothering with someone stable.

I mean an apostate child who killed his family...yeah don't open that can of worms.

Leave it to starve to death in a cell.

You know humane execution.

but those deaths were reasonably quick. Starving and dehydrating takes time.

If we're speaking in the context of his father before that...lolno. You seem to forget that his father was an abusive, drunken murdering wretch who killed his mother and was going to kill him.

Leaving a child to die forgotten in a dark, moldy cell is in no way, shape or form comparable.

But they were equally brutal.

Have you seen a man die from having his carotid cut?

It's "quick" but it isn't a nice way to go, and it's apparently quite painful, literally having blood forced into mucus pathway up the throat, you can actually feel that before bleeding to death.

Coles death was a bad one but that child is dead.

This creature is as much a monster as well... I'd say me but I did for continued existence.

Not narcissistic delusion.

Cole killed for sport more or less, a delusion, he is not a soldier.

He's a murderer.

Massive distinction.

your stern but no monster my friend

OT: ive seen a cariod cut when i vollenteered at a homless shelter grim sight. Im no rhetorician so i cant agrue the finer points of cole's dulusions but to some these were mercy killings. To some magi are a curse and what cole is a "good" deed to them. The thing about cole is he's what you say he is but somehow he's not. Maybe inquisition will show more of his morality/justifications, i expect to be plrasently suprised

Just to remind you about some basic legal provisions. In case you make some horrible misjudgment in future real life issues.

1. Juvenile Delinquency is usually off the charge, especially when they were under pressure and without intention. Children are often categorised in Mitigating Circumstances, which is the perpetrator are unable to determine right from wrong, or that what he or she was doing was wrong.

2. Legitimate Defence is also off the charge, his father killed his mother before he carried a weapon and threatened to do him in. His Legitimate Defence Justification was clearly tenable, so according to the law, Cole was innocent.

3.  Killing a child is first degree murder. Starving and imprisonment will be considered as additional crimes of torture. It's an indispensable aggravating circumstance and extremely inhumane.

If Cole was real I could totally defend him and make him walk. He cannot determine wrong from right because he is a child, he was under severe psychological pressure and and most importantly his father killed his mother so it was defensive kill. If Cole was a real person in Netherlands and I was his Lawyer he would definitely walk free, I mean do not even doubt it. The worst scenario would be him having mandatory therapy sessions.
