Cole has already been declared non-romanceable by Gaider. Also, I personally think a Cole romance would just be wrong on so many levels.
Don't be so sure about that. DG said he wouldn't want Cole to be romanceable but he also said he gets overruled on stuff and mentioned one thing in particular that bugged him. My guess it's Cole as a romance. Sure it'd be weird romancing Cole as he was in Asunder, but time passes and characters grow.

Getting ready for work so can't look for the quote, but it was him being specifically overruled by a boss on a storyline and he seemed annoyed about it. I am betting the boss saying "Make Cole a romance" might have done that given his previously stated opinions on the subject.
Also DG likes to toy with us, so it is also possible he is throwing up a false front because Cole fans are probably second to Cullen fans =p

Not exactly. In the newest trailer there's an image of a dual wielding rogue that fits his description perfectly as a companion, so chances are slim that it isn't him.

Everytime people talk about romancing Cole, who is basically a child, I think of that creepy old movie "Big" with T.Hanks 
I personally would love a Cole romance, the only thing that would bother me was the age difference- Cole was said to be around 20 in Asunder, and the devs said the inquisitor is around 30 so...10 years....that's kinda alot XD

Between his leaked profile in the survey and the appearance of the blond rogue in the trailer, even with the trademark hair over the eyes, I will be extremely shocked if it's not Cole. I think you're probably safe. lol

I've explained before that I'd be interested in a Cole romance, if it was available. It doesn't mean I want to romance a 12 year old or someone emotionally/intellectually stunted. The general assumption is that Cole is a spirit, which means he's not a 12 year old human in any capacity. He could easily possess the intelligence of a normal adult human once he realizes what he is. If he doesn't, then he'll still be interesting as a non-romanceable character.
I think it's easy to understand why many people are into the idea of him being an LI, though. There are basically no other conventionally attractive, younger males on the team. I understand that some people are into 30-40 year olds, either because they are 30-40 or because they're just into older people. That's totally cool, I respect that. A lot of people playing are also substantially younger and would like LIs available around their age, or just are into younger people. I'm 20, myself, and would love to have a male LI in the 18-25 range. Of course, they can't cover every demographic in every game. Still, it's easy to see why people are hoping.

I think it was on the forums somewhere, the new ones if I remember right. I didn't actually read them on the forums though; I think I saw it on tumblr or something (because I generally don't keep up on all the random threads on the forums). I don't understand why it is so hard to imagine Cole as a spirit - something ageless and inhuman - rather than a human child.
Which would still keep the "ick" factor for some, but if you can romance alien species in Mass Effect and nobody bats an eyelash...

I remember Gaider mentioning a lock down on a no Cole romance thing somewhere as well. But... where it was is hard to point out. Someone mentioned before how they thought Gaider was being a butt about it yet I remember it being very reasonable why he didn't want Cole romancable.
Cole does fit the rather prettier boy of the party slot other then Cullen, but Cole is much younger. Him being interesting as a LI purely by his looks, or for the 'repair the damaged' type. If he does end up being one, I can imagine it being a veeery long and difficult process to even get him to do a little cheek kiss and never doing a physical romance until he becomes more comfortable and trusting of the world around him. And I mean, totally not just shoving gifts in his face till he's sparkly happy, which I know Bio had said they are no longer doing and are doing a new way to LI, but I would still figure a friendship is what Cole needs. Romance is complicated and carries a lot of rather strict things to it, which would probably be complicated and stressful for him since he's never had one before and his understanding on it is vague. He just needs people there who can see and remember him, to talk to him, things of that nature. Romance is sort of like friendship, but generally so far in the DA games it always is something physical rather then a platonic love, and since Cole had a very platonic level of friendship with Rhys that's as far as I can see Cole ever going, and that was some powerful love without a single move of the romances we see in game.

Exactly this. I would like him to be a LI, but not in the sense that I'd want it to end with "I love you!" and then steamy sex scene. Just something more platonic and innocent. We've never had that before, but I can't see it happening because of his age.

It was me who butted up against him about that a tad. I hadn't been an advocate of a Cole romance, but he was being somewhat rude to those who had, so I called him out on it.
