I finally finished drawing the remake of Cole that I planned on making.
Kept on learning new things while drawing him, I just couldn't stop!
Cole makes me a better artist, he is helping me!
Awesome!
So I've seen the results of Cole becoming either more human or more spirit. I can't say if one is better than the other. Yet another decision in Inquisition where I don't have a clear favorite.
It really makes me happy to see him as a spirit, for some reason. It just feels truer to his nature.
So, final opinion on Cole: He disturbs me. His very nature violates the sanctity of other people's minds, denying them the most basic form of privacy, while he bumbles around in his attempts to "help" by dragging their most painful memories out for everyone to see. He means well, of course, but he is walking, talking mind-rape.
He's terribly upset, but I think it sets up his personal quest nicely.Spoiler
It's funny. Before playing Inquisition, Cole really creeped me out and I thought my inquisitor might not want him within a mile of Skyhold.
After playing the game he's my number one favourite companion, an achievement in that bunch.
I really need a help now, plz help me.

I love Cole. I'm finding that I can't play the game without his cryptic comments everywhere, and his moral compass. Though he and Solas both go avenging angel on theSpoiler
True, it does set up his personal quest really well.
I can understand why Cole wanted

Although I adore the character Cole, you make a valid point.
Good reason to find him disturbing I guess.
I was disappointed Cole and Kieran don't interact any. That could have been fascinating.
So.. anyone else having issues with Cole or Solas approving
I did the Wardens mission and if I exile them neither Cole or Solas seem to approve, but if I make them join they disapprove highly
What is happening.

Perhaps you've reached the maximum level of their approval?

According to the Prima guide, Cole and Solas should both get a Greatly Approves for exile. But the book has been wrong before with other stuff so I'm not sure.

He's a spirit. You have billions of them just like him, hovering next to you, just beyond the Veil, at all times.
Also, I decided to return Cole to spirithood. I agree with Solas in that spirits are people too, just different, and I don't want to mutilate him further.

Just a little thing I have noticed. I believe that in the book Cole had to eat etc. (correct me if I'm wrong, read it some time ago) but in game he says he doesn't eat.
Did I read it wrong or did they change some things?

Yeah, it would be very weird if he didn’t eat and sleep when he travelled with Rhys and he still believed Cole is a human. He was fully functional when he thought he needed to, however human path Cole is likely to learn it back.
So I hated Cole from asunder, and I can't stand Cole if he is the LAST companion you meet, but....
Only spoilers on how, when and where you meet and then recruit Cole & Dorian.
So if you are like me and were ANTI-COLE before the game because of Asunder, I suggest you try and side with the Templars in the game and see if that changes your perspective on Cole, I was surprised just how different the perspectives are.
I did Cole's personal quest in a second playthrough, this time I choose the spirit path. I like both, but I think I slightly prefer the human path myself. ![]()
But that got me thinking, I think there aren't enough companion quests. I want more little quests for our companions.
Quests you can ignore without damaging the story, but as a extra for those that want to get to know the characters even better. Silly little things like the prank quest with Sera....
Maybe help Cole help people in Skyhold or something. Burning turnips together and all that...
And ****, I actually became a mom-quisitor, to pretty much every companion...and I already have two dogs, two chickens and six rats to mother over...
So I'm at the quest where you can chose to make Cole more like a human, or more like the Spirit he is.
I want to know what you guys think about the choice, and what you suggest. I'm torn. On the one hand, Solas's argument makes complete sense. Cole is a spirit. He should eventually want to return to being a Spirit of Compassion full-time. He's not Cole. It's slightly disturbing that he's behaving as a dead child.
On the other hand, Varric has an excellent point, too. Cole wants to be a human. Why not let him be human? Would it be horrible for a Spirit to become more human when it's almost human as it is? Cole could understand people better, help them more, and still have the abilities of a spirit while retaining a human mind.
I can't decide which is better. What do you guys think?
I prefer human it seems he gets over all his issues from asunder and I personally feel that the scene at Val is better when he is more human than spirit and in the end Solas agree's even if he disapproves at first.
I return him to spirithood. He better fulfills his function there, and I don't know if I really want to alter his nature that fundamentally. Also, I prefer the path of his forgiving the former templar.
My Inquisitor agreed with Solas that Spirits are people. But she also believed people grow and change, they rarely stay constant. That's why she had Varric help Cole through his human issue.
I also imagine it as Varrics second chance to help a spirit after Anders/Justice
