He is obviously helping it. :)

This hasn't happened here. Other strange things, yeah, plenty. Like Cole pushing my inquisitor off cliffs and killing goats for no apparent reason.

But the strange things do seem to happen with Cole more than with the others...

As far as I can tell, the...launching bug happens if Shadow Strike is the killing blow (at least on PC, it's been happening to my husband too). Then the enemy's sent into the air in variable heights and distances. I don't even think this is the most ridiculous one I've seen, just the first one I actually recorded.  As for those other things, Cole pushing you off a cliff I think is just a side effect of characters having collision. I've had the extreme of that with dragons "scooping" me up and launching me almost off cliffs with their hands when they turn around really fast sometimes. And the killing wildlife thing...I think it might have to do with the targeting system and if you're playing through a character that can range things (archer/mage). But on the other hand I've just been running along and somehow the targeting system thinks I'm attacking when I wasn't and it puts me into combat but no shots are fired and no one else attacks. I have to kill whatever was highlighted to get out of combat if I stay in the area. It's very strange.

I still can't decide on Cole's quest. However, watching the scene where he tries to help dozens of people in Val Royeaux all at once makes me feel uneasy.

Why? I thought it was great.

I don't know. Something about that scene feels odd, sad even.

Cole's spirit path made me very sad, especially the scene you get before the end of the game. The smile he gives you is very cute though... it doesn't beat his laugh. His voice actor did such a good job. I can't do anything but make Cole human now.

I wonder if the Bioware guys read the comic "The Ballad of Halo Jones", which ran in the pages of 2000AD back in the 1980s. In the second series, there is a character who is a bit like Cole:

I've just done the ball, (not the warden quest) and I know my approval with cole is pretty bad. It wasnt intentional just everything ive done so far he's not been happy with. Like spareing people who have killed.. he doesnt like that. Is there a way I can get it up, now?

Take him with you out adventuring when you do quests that help people. I got lots of approval doing quests with him in the Hinterlands.

Why is that sad?

Chiming in on the human or spirit route with Cole I personally prefer the human route the spirit route made me feel very sad with that one scene near the end, probably more than it should since on top of liking Cole as a character very much there something about him that reminds me very much of my own little brother. Going to sound like a wimp but after that certain scene on his spirit route I had to set the controller down and just have a good quite long think for a while, sad faces and pillow hugging was involved.

I still can't decide on Cole's quest. However, watching the scene where he tries to help dozens of people in Val Royeaux all at once makes me feel uneasy.

How do you get that scene? Does it only happen if you make him more spirit like on his personal quest?

After watching the spirit scene as well, I have decided to make Cole more human each time.

However both directions are nice. It really just depends on what path you want for Cole.

True, I'm playing a demon-fearing Andrastian and Cole is ruining my roleplay. "Aaah demons, get the templars!!1!  DON'T YOU TOUCH MY PET DEMON."  Oh well. My character shall suffer the neuroses of her player.

just popping into the Cole thread to say he cracked me up last night. (and while I was totally against him after the novel he has really grown on me)

Leaving the flooded cave in  Crestwood and the nugs are running around....

my mage comments about the nugs,

Cole comments about what the nugs think,

my mage thinks "static shock should take all three of them out at once, I need some crafting materials" and proceeds to kill the nugs.....

Cole shouts "No! They weren't DOING anything!"....and disapproves of my actions.

I probably laughed a lot harder at that then I should have. The hit to my approval must have been just enough, 'cause now he won't talk to me back at Skyhold.

Does anyone know where to find the bread on the battlements dialogue? And it's follow up?

I don't remember where got the first bread dialogue, but I heard the second is supposed to be down by the surgeon's tent. Haven't been able to get that or the missing daggers follow-up which is supposed to be in the gate-area, too, though. Hopefully it's not a one-time-only NPC arrangement that you can miss without ever knowing.

On a different note, I allied with the templars and then watched the mage-version of In Your Heart on youtube to see how Cole gets introduced if you go that route. It's interesting how different he acts there. After siding with the templars, he blatantly appears as his spirit-self because he knows that we know -- which seems to imply a degree of trust that we trust him? Given his prior experiences, I find that rather touching and brave. If you ally with the mages, though, I get the impression that he tries quite hard to appear human so as not to freak everyone out worse than they already are. The last thing anyone would trust in the middle of a siege is a "demon" popping up in their midst, after all. He shies away from Cullen and then draws closer to the Herald to hover behind her shoulder as if for protection, which I also found touching, as well as amusing (on the templar-path he's totally blasé about Cassandra and Cullen both drawing swords on him immediately when he appears on the war table in the midle of a council session).

Both versions are well-done, though I prefer the templar path introduction overall because he plays a much bigger role there, and his help against Envy gives us a solid personal reason to trust him.

Hi, Cole's fans,  I have a doubt. If Cole follows the human path, will he continues to give insights about the companions inner feelings during banters?

As far as I can tell, most of his banter is the same regardless of what path you take. The main thing that changes after the choice is his personal cinematics and his dialogue wheel. A few banters will be personalized to the choice made though.

... I just can't do it. I can't decide. Yes, that issue, too, I finally got to that point in the game. Tried it both ways -- and was sad both times. :( There's just ... something missing either way. I love Cole as he is, and no matter which way he goes, he seems to lose some of that. It's hard. Damn hard.

Emotionally, I want him to be more spirit. That purity about him is just awe-inspiring, and I miss the "ethereal" quality to his speech and mannerism that he has as the more-human version. The "make them and myself forget" thing as his go-to mode of operation does bother me, though, and I'm a bit worried that it may mean losing him as a friend. Can he even have friends? Does he want to? Solas has spirit-friends, so I hope he can and he does. I suppose it's just ... not as easy to recognize as mortal friendship.

Bleh, I don't know. I dislike humanocentrism, and how because we are humans, we also usually make fantasy-humans superior and more importand and better in every way than everything else. The notion a human can understand compassion better than its pure spirit essence could really annoys me.

To people who have finished the game with more-spirit-Cole, were you satisfied with how he turns out, how the friendship with him turns out? To people who have finished both, do you feel as if the writer holds more-human-Cole up to be the "better" choice? No specifics or spoilers please, just your impression.

So without spoiling any specifics, is it worth it to bring Cole to the Orlesian Ball and to the Grey Warden main story missions? I'd like to know if there's any dialogue that's worthwhile for either.

Personally I prefer Cole go the more spirit route.  I just think encouraging him to become "more human", or as Varric puts it "a real person", is simply trying to force* him into becoming something he's not. And since I'm advocating all people should be themselves and not change for others or society or etc, I'm always picking the spirit route for him. The only thing sad in that path, for me, is the original (human) Cole's fate. Just one of many abused, tortured and killed in the name of fear and ignorance (which are ideally represented by the chantry and the templars). Other than that I'm happy with how he feels afterwards and how his real self emerges more.
