Been playing the new DLC and having Cole as my companion for all things spirit-related has been fun! I played it only after the game ended, so my other spirit lover is gone. It's nice Cole has banter related to the DLC too. He's been a sweetie and dear friend! Still my fav of all my companions and always will be!

Also have you guys ever taken Cole to dinner in the rain? I was laughing at how impossible it was to take a nice screenshot because of the rain constantly splashing on the table.

You mean during Blackwall's disappearance? That could have some awesome screenshoots with Cinematic Tools.

Lol yeah! I hadn't realized I was at that part where Blackwall leaves and my IQ asks Cole to join her for dinner. When they got there, both were soaking wet, rain dripping off them as they chatted about what had happened. It really looked neat, but each time I tried to take a pic, a raindrop would splash and distort them. I need to be quicker! I found it fitting for his final quest too since he did meet her in the rain.

The indoor rain is one of the bigger WTF aspects of Inquisition gameplay. I don't know if it should amuse or irritate me, but it's certainly not what you'd expect in a so-called triple-A game in the year 2014.

At any rate, great work Dust. He looks deadly in an oddly calm way, no malice or glee or posturing to it at all, very appropriate. Hearing him do battlecries like every other party member always struck me as somehow OOC, this picture definitely matches my mental image of Cole-in-battle more.

LOL! I know! Even though they are outside dinning, they have a roof over their head. Where's the rain coming from? Understandable they are wet since they walked there, but the table being splashed every few seconds? Reminds me of the Sims with weather and missing roofs we were unaware of until we saw puddles forming in the house.  I just pretend it's really windy and the rain is blowing at them.

I should also add if any of you haven't played the DLC yet, when you do, take Cole with you. He's got a lot of new dialogue and inside stuff only he can sense that makes the story more interesting!

Indoor rain is common in many games, not just Sims. Skyrim even has a mod to fix it, except it will significantly slow down your computer. Consider they already put a crowd for Blackwall’s quest, adding those physic calculations will probably crash your game, so it’s acceptable. To bad I don’t have a proper save to have a look at it.

I haven’t find time to play JoH yet, school works is burying me. But I’ve heard there are many spirit related content, will definitely expand my imagination of what will lead to the next game. Still hoping that Cole’s unique nature can allude to something bigger though, there are so many amazing potentials that shouldn’t be wasted.

I've been lucky to have no crashes with mine. I think the snow slows the frames a bit, but not always. And yeah, I heard about that in other games. I find it amusing. Lol and the first time it happened I was supposed to meet Josephine in Val Royeaux and there's the poor woman standing out there in the rain. Lol I think Cole's is a bit worse since it's a cut scene. Once Josephine and my IQ meet that guy and sit and chat, it's a sunny day until we leave, but with Cole, the rain stayed.

Yes there's a lot of spirit-related stuff and Cole feels right at home (even though I made him more human). And what you discover in that DLC will change everything you thought you knew about DA's history.

I thought it will be an interesting cut scene for spirit Cole right? Just imagining this picture with blurry raining backgroundXD

He suits the rain more than the sun for some reason. Lol I actually know a guy in real life who looks like Cole. I think he's good looking despite what others say. There's something about him.

I love when cut scenes clash with other events. I had one where Iron Bull took me for drinks to meet the new recruits in disguise and Blackwall was just staring at us in the dark all night from his spot where he first stands when you arrive at Skyhold.

Lol tons! The spoilers urged me to get the DLC, and I was unable to resist.

It seems like Blackwall is always /that person/ in your play through. "Hey, I'm here, you should talk to me first!" lol

Well, no matter what, Cole is the inner beauty king no doubt ^^

That's probably it. Cole's inner beauty is what makes him attractive.

You'd think Cole's disappearing/reappearing act would scare me, but Blackwall freaked me out in a recent playthrough. I did not bring him to Adamant and when I returned from the Fade, he was right there between to Grey Wardens and just looking at me!

Backwall peeks you from behind when he shouldn’t ~*gasp*

Have you romanced Josephine? Consider the context.

Huh. I looked at my Adamant screenshots just now, and you're right -- when I played that mission, I was too caught up in what was happening to spot Blackwall standing silently behind Cassandra and Cole. Odd that they made the effort to put him there but didn't allow him to say anything. Anyway, the game does more or less assume that every companion accompanies you to the big story missions, which makes sense -- why weaken yourself by leaving people in Skyhold when the fate of the world is at stake? It's still a bit jarring to hear whoever wasn't in then active party talk about it but never see them during the mission, though.

I also failed to notice Cole in Therinfal before someone pointed out that he was there, briefly following the Inquisitor and that noble ponce in the arrival cutscene, and then sitting on the roof of a wooden shack. Color me embarrassed. I suppose he popped out to check on the cause of all the excitement. When Cole revealed himself and I had the option to ask if I'd seen him before, I was wondering if I had missed something ...

And that screenshot captures one of my favourite Cole-expressions. :) Soft and content.

I noticed it on my second playthrough. It kind of startled me seeing Blackwall just standing there. Lol you forget that they are all there when you are focused on your chosen party.

I noticed him after someone posted pics in a thread. Now I see Cole everytime I chose the Templars. And me too! I wondered how did my Inquisitor think she'd seen him before?

Lol no I haven't. My ladies have romanced Cullen, Blackwall and Solas so far, and since I'm female I always play one and focus on male romances. I think Josie is bi though, so I might give it a shot! She seems so sweet! For some reason I find her and a Qunari together kind of adorable!

Hello Cole thread :) Apologies if this has already been posted, but Cole's lovely VA James Norton has been nominated for a BAFTA, as supporting actor in a tv show called Happy Valley (you'll have to scroll down the page a bit). The programme also featured Ramon Tikaram (Dorian's VA) in a small role.

Sorry if that's slightly OT or whatever, just thought I'd share since I saw it on the BBC website x

Probably because if you exile the Wardens, he speaks up to ask if you mean him as well.

I've only noticed Cole in Therinfal Redoubt on my first play through, but haven't seem him on my new play-throughs.  I'll play JOH early on my current play-through, and I hope I won't miss any Cole(more human) banter if I do it before his personal quest. This time Cole will stay in my party like my first play-through. I usually switch between Cole and Varric, but I like Cole a lot more than Varric. I like that in the banter, Varric tries to help Cole with jokes, and they talking about all of Varric's characters in his story

If I recall, if you have low approval with Blackwall, he'll leave with the Wardens if you exile them. I saw Cole's ragequit scene and how can anyone want him to do that??

That is not the worst thing you know, I genially thanked the mother maker when I read about what they've initially planed to do to Cole in the final battle. I know they love drama, but come on, this plot would literally ruining every positive aspect that Cole’s character is striving to stand for.

I knew it! This is like if you take a companion into the Fade in DA2 and they attack you, or at the end of the game if the relationship is low, and even DAO with Zevran, Leliana or Wynne. I had a feeling Cole might not have a good fate if they kept that 3rd option! That would have been hard to watch... and if he killed the Templar, would that have meant we wanted him to turn into a demon again? I would never be able to do that.

It is a rather curious dialog option anyway, since Cole isn't exactly prancing through our line of sight ... and isn't visible to people unless he wants to be. As bad as I feel about being harsh to him, I prefer to pick a few confrontational/suspicious options in that first conversation because it's hard to imagine not being wary of him at first glance. He might well be a rival demon trying to poach Envy's intended prey, or an aspect of Envy created to learn more about how readily you trust others. But by the time my Inquisitor breaks free of Envy, she does trust him, and the regrets him vanishing as soon as Envy dies before she had a chance to thank him.

Awesome. I wish we could give him an award for his work as Cole, which IMO is phenomenal.

Ugh, I am SO glad they changed that (as well as the original plan of having humanity be the sole "victory condition" for his personal story). This isn't a very popular opinion, but I've long preferred not to have assh*le options just for the sake of having them, particularly when they are consequence-free for the player character. IMO player freedom (especially to play "evil") does not automatically trump everything else, and since Bioware's games tend to be intended as heroic journeys, we shouldn't just be able to betray, abuse or murder like it's nothing. If a companion betrays us first, sure, let them have it with no holds barred. But a "let's pervert this gentle creature into the very thing he is most afraid of becoming and then probably slaughter him later" for funsies? Yeah, screw that. Likewise with forcing Cole into battle with Corypheus when he's vulnerable. He's selfless, not suicidally stupid, thank you, and I'm glad he's allowed to put his foot down and say no.

I've no idea what happens in DA2, but as I recall you have to kill Leliana and Wynne if you defile the Sacred Ashes? It's logical that they would not stand for that, and I like it when companions take a stand against unacceptable actions instead of being our worshipful doormats even when we crap on everything they hold dear. But the whole "defile" choice is another of those nonsensical assh*le moments which I wish weren't there just for the hell of it.
