If I remember, somewhere here on forum, Gaider tell us, that his opinion was ignored and something else, I don't remember correctly. People on forum was thinking it is about Cole. Because of that I think that there is may be a little chance to see romanceable Cole.

He said he'd have to ignore people's fanfics about a certain character, I think. I think it was on Tumblr. That could be so whether or not he was an LI, though. I mean, it's not like him being unavailable would stop anyone.
Cole isn't really confirmed not to be an LI. I mean, David Gaider never said, "Cole will absolutely not be an LI in Inquisition, you can quote me on this." At the time, he wasn't confirmed for Inquisition at all. To be fair, he still isn't. Gaider just heavily implied it wouldn't happen and the evidence we have strongly points to the blond rogue being Cole. I think both of these things will be true, Cole will be in the party and he wont be an LI. People overstate how confirmed either thing is, though.

That's amazing!! I wish there was more art like this one, I'm totally a fan of this artist from now on.
Thanks for posting it here, now I have something to admire during long evenings... =)
Hey, I know Gaider said that Cole would likely not be an LI, but there's still hoping. And even if he's not, we can always use our imagination, right?

It seems Gaider has likely accepted at least that inevitability. lol

As I've said before on this topic: While I understand why a lot of people have issues with him being a romance because he has the mind of a child (and agree, to be frank), I don't understand is why no-one seems to have an issue with using someone with the mind of a child to fight and kill for you.
I don't really want to get into the debate about how we have culture where movies with extreme violence have a lower age rating than movies with nudity, but I think a similar thing is in effect here.

Cole's already a killer. That's a line that's already been crossed, a door that's already been opened.
That being said, his child like mind is a large part of the reason I don't want him on my squad.

I don't think "That child has already killed, so there's no problem with making them kill for me again" Is an ideology that would be even slightly acceptable in any other situation.

I think this has a lot to do with how everyone's interpreting Cole's mental state. I don't think of him as a child, even as a "child mind in an adult body". I interpret him as a socially undeveloped being; a being in which may not actually be human. This means that, like previously stated, he is more akin to being an "alien" than a child. He just doesn't understand the complexities of human social interaction. And it's not as if he's too stupid to learn; to become something more "adult" than the child he keeps getting equated to. Throughout Asunder he changes how he thinks and behaves due to what he learns through his interactions with his companions. But, like DG said, his learning process may never include physical romance. That may be beyond his capacity or he simply just doesn't care about it.

I've said this before, but Cole doesn't seem like a human child, to me. He seems like an inhuman entity that is trying to be human based on an outside perspective of what it means to be human. In other words, he seems like a fade spirit, to me. I think that he isn't and never was either human or a child. He accessed the real mage child, Cole's, thoughts and that's what he's built his identity on. This is what spirits generally do, as we know it. They take concepts from the real world and build a persona around what they see, or assume they see. I think it's important to remember, though, that Cole is not probably anything remotely human.

Platonic relationships that are closer than friendship, but not quite romantic, and definitely not sexual, haven't been explored in a DA game yet, I don't think. If I had to pick a sexual identity for myself, I'd probably say I'm a heteroromantic asexual, so that sort of relationship would be appealing to me on a personal level.

Having a close platonic relationship with Cole would be satisfying enough for me. While I disagree about Cole = human child, I would feel uncomfortable pursuing a romance with him because I don't think he could ever truly consent to anything sexual because as a spirit he can never truly understand it.

I'm also fine with a platonic relationship with Cole, just not with Evan Peters. ![]()
