Wary of the dude, to be honest, until I see how he acts towards the Inquisitor, it'll have to stay that way.

He seems dangerous, among other things, so he'd be useful, on the other hand, he's a murderer, possibly a demon, or abomination. If that's what he is, it's going to take a lot to get me to trust him.

But murdering is so much fun! :D

Also having a party member of questionable morals is very standard for DA games. Zevran, Merrill and now Cole.

Edit: Also now that I think about it Lelianna was a bard and if you harden her does talk about how much she enjoys killing. So she counts too.

Cool, Cole may be the first character I purposefully drive away from my party in my cannon play through. If he’s like he was in Asunder, I don’t see my Inquisitor tolerating him for long, and I may even kill him if he does dose anything my character thinks is too awful. I don’t have a problem with this though and think it would be cool. With 9 companions, I feel it would be more realistic to for my inquisitor to just be totally unable to get along with some of the characters to the point of getting them to leave the group. Maybe on a different play through I can play a more sympathetic character to Cole.

Anyone want to bet one of Cole's battle cries will be "Look into my eyes"?  But more of a yell as he goes charging past chasing after Red Templars? :P

She doesn't so much talk about enjoying Killing, not in the way Zevran does, just how much she enjoys the charge of being in a dangerous situation. Thrill seeker and less psychopath. Zevran is the one who talks about how much he enjoys taking lives because of the power it gives him over people he's murdering.

Ah, that's right. She doesn't so much revel in the killing but she does say this: "What we're doing... what we've done--hunted men down, killed them--part of me loves it. It invigorates me and this scares me. I... I feel myself slipping."

Doesn't change the fact that she assassinated plenty of people. I should also add that I don't dislike any of the companions in any of the DA games, in fact I like quite all of them, including their faults. It's just interesting how quickly people are to ignore the murdering of previous companions in comparison.

Murdering people for a thrill? Is that really less bad than what Zevran does?

Personally, I like the guy, at least how he was in Asunder, but there's a difference between liking, and trusting a character. It's like, say Loki, a fair few people like him, but the sane ones wouldn't trust him.

Ah, I understand what you mean. After reading Asunder I don't really have a problem trusting him, but since I play a chaotic neutral(or evil? i can't remember) that has no qualms about murdering people that wont pay me money/show the slightest bit of disrespect to me... maybe it's my bias haha. I'm also a lil defensive about it considering the mass amount of Cole hate outside of this thread.
I also reason it by, I trusted Zevran and Leliana and Merrill so it would be hypocritical of me to change my policy just because I don't fully understand someone.

But then I think demons are cool so...

How do you guys think we'll meet Cole in the game? I think he'll probably be the the last or hardest companion to find. He's most likely hiding somewhere in a dark place...or killing someone...lets hope it's the first. Come on BioWare, give us some confirmation. Whilst I like surprises, this wait is kinda agonising. I was really hoping for the devs to say something about Cole at E3 since they were announcing/showing off new companions. Scribbles and Cole fans are still in the dark.

I still think we'll meet Cole if/when he tries to assassinate the Inquisitor - likely believing them to be the one who caused the Breach (which probably has killed Rhys and Evangeline).

He was last seen back at the White Spire in Val Royeaux (which we are almost assuredly going to).  Maybe we'll have a mission to investigate the disappearance of Lord Seeker Lambert, and thus find Cole still in the tower (or the Pit, more likely).

If he does try and kill the Inquisitor, then I'd guess it'd happen at Skyhold.

You only need me Cole.. only me!

Hehe, I kid :P

But nah in all seriousness, I really hope we'll have some companions/advisors that actually accept him and even befriend him. But if I see him hugging Scribbles, I know I'll be waiting for a hug too it since I have this crazy headcanon (hope!) that my inquisitor will save Cole and be his bestest friend

You'll never replace Rhys, NEVEEERRR!!!!

I can try! :crying:

Can't help yourself, can you?! :P

Now I'm thiking about those movies in which the blonde neighbor tries to murder the wife and supplant her in the family.

"Rhys is dead, boy, now I'M your parental figure! Hug me!"

Okay well if he is anything like THAT ghost I would kill him too... >_> I thought he was simply ascribed to being what Gaider imagined Cole looking like? And googling him in that, I can see it by the way Cole is described in the book.

Spoiler

But now reading that he played that annoying lil brat in The Office I can't say I like the idea of Cole looking like him. :D

I must be totally insane ;)

Pfft, we all have our reasons. (:

Yeah, if your inquisitor is going to be a complete arsehole to him and push all of his buttons, then yeah I wouldn't trust him. I wouldn't trust any companion I was rivalled with. But if you're aiming to befriend him and be nice, then I think he's completely trustworthy and loyal -- I think his "friendship" with Rhys proves this. ^^

Evan Peters... *drool*

The more I see Cole, the less I think he looks like Evan Peters though. Thankfully. Cole shouldn't be made so hot. :P

I find his asexuality to be almost criminal.

Varric: So, Cole, that thing you do, turning invisible...

Cole: I can already tell this isn't going anywhere pleasant.

Varric: I bet it makes spying on the ladies easier.

Cole: What?

Varric: Never mind.

So much wasted potential.

another take on it

Varric: So kid, that thing you do, turning invisible...

Cole: hum*fidgets* yes?

Varric: Have you ever...you know?

Cole: ...what?

Iron bull: He wants to know how many naked women you've spied on!

Cole: hum why would I want to spy naked women, they can't hide anything if they don't have any clothes.

Iron bull: That's exactly the point!

Cole: I...don't get it

Blackwall: Just leave the boy alone will you? He's already confused enough as it is.

I refuse to let such a gift go to waste!

Cole: Hmm, sorry but... Can I ask why... why are we on the Seeker's room while she's undressing?

Inquisitor: We're protecting her, son. She's in a very vulnerable state right now.

Cole: But why are we hiding?

Inquisitor: Why, we will want to take any attackers by surprise. Not to mention the Seeker's a very prideful woman. She might get quite, ah, angry if she knew we were here.

Cole: Then who's protecting the enchanter lady and Sera now that we've left?

Inquisitor: We can't be everywhere, Cole, much to my chagrin.

Cole: But they could all be in the same room, no? That way we could protect all of them.

Inquisitor: I like the way you think, son.

Cole: I... thanks?

Evan Peters isn't really my type look-wise but then I am barely attracted to dudes anyways so, yeah. I mainly care about how he'll act and how much he's changed. Although I admit I hope he's got a dorky-cute look going. I find that so awfully endearing.

This feels like a Tales of game suddenly. :D
Him being asexual and probably aromantic also, isn't that strange as denizens of the Fade don't seem to be interested in such worldly affairs. I am really wondering how "human" he will be, as

True, I suppose I'd trust him cause I went kind of Chaotic Neutral/Evil, and I don't have a problem with killing. Just that you can't see him unless you want to die, or he wants you to, sets me on edge a bit. Cause like, what if you made a decision that you didn't realise would set him on you? He could stab you in the back without your knowledge.

Even when Rhys wanted Cole to turn himself in and they had their little tussle in the Pit, I don't think Cole -actually- wanted to hurt Rhys. Especially since he let Rhys get away. Even if we said one thing that didn't settle well with him, I think he'd let it slide if he still likes/respects/looks up to us enough. There might be conflict, but not enough to elicit a knife in the back. I mean...unless you REALLY ****** him off I guess.
