He hates/is afraid of demons (possibly spirits) apparently.

So I get the impression that Iron Bull is not going to get on well with Cole.
He hates/is afraid of demons (possibly spirits) apparently.
I think that's pretty safe to say. But I also wonder if Cole would just come right out and be like "Hey guys I'm a demon/spirit!" That doesn't seem like he would, so I imagine the only way we'd find out is if something happened... hmmm..

Yeah, from the Freddie Prinze Jr. interview I got the impression that demons make him uncomfortable like parasites or something. I guess how IB reacts to Cole would be largely dependent on how much is actually known about Cole on recruitment. Like...would it be obvious he's a spirit/demon? I mean at the very least, once we find out what he is exactly (assuming that we do at some point in the game) I'm sure there'll be a prompted conflict between Cole and IB similar to Tali and Legion. With any luck, you'd be able to convince IB (like Tali) or he'd come to the conclusion on his own that Cole isn't bad. That's assuming you help Cole do the "join the living" as opposed to the "prey upon" path.
Edit: WHAT A COINCIDENCE WITH PATRICK WEEKES AND A POSSIBLE SIMILAR CONFLICT...

True. I suppose it depends firstly on how we recruit Cole - whether it is immediately obvious what he is (assuming he is a spirit) or whether it is revealed later.I think that's pretty safe to say. But I also wonder if Cole would just come right out and be like "Hey guys I'm a demon/spirit!" That doesn't seem like he would, so I imagine the only way we'd find out is if something happened... hmmm..
Its possible that the Inquisitor might be the one to find out, and then has an option to keep it from the others, but I imagine that they would inevitably find out anyway. Possibly, being upfront with them from the very start could be the best option.
Or, perhaps he'll turn out to be something else altogether...

Assuming the leaked survey is still relevant in any way:
From the leaked survey:
Cole - A long time ago, a young man died a cruel death in a dark place. And now, somehow, there is Cole. Was he a spirit or a demon? Is he human now? Cole is not sure it matters any more. Hounded by memories that aren't his own, invisible in a world he can stalk like a shadow, the rogue must decide between joining the living or preying upon them.
Cole may not even remotely know what he is to let others know upfront. He also never struck me as the confident or chatty type. Walking up to your new "friends" and being all "hey guys I might be a demon" doesn't really seem in character for him. At best he might try to talk to the Inquisitor privately.

Yeah basically this. I feel if anything, Solas being a "Fade Expert", he might know something about Cole/be able to tell what he is? Maybe that's how the Inquisition finds out. Cole doesn't like to do anything to upset people and he seems to know demons are to be feared/are bad and I'm sure he wouldn't want to tell people something like that for fear of them hating him.

Well it depends on if/how he has changed since Asunder.Assuming the leaked survey is still relevant in any way:

But my point was, it's possible that we initially meet him in such a manner that he can't hide or deny what he is. Or else, that he does hide what he is at first, but we would have to find out sooner or later.

That or maybe a demon calls him out. Something like, "You! Why do you fight your own kind to defend these mortals?" type thing.

Because demons are known for their admirable sense of brotherhood?

They are known for things like sowing the seeds of suspicion though. The demon could do it to make the Inquisition suspicious of Cole.

Haha definitely not but they do have a tendency to know exactly what to say to turn humans against each other. Didn't the demon in Pharamond do that to make Rhys doubt Cole? I can't remember now as I admit I speed-read when not reading from Cole's POV. ![]()

What I'm wondering is if you go into a place where Cole is and initially no one can see him, then he comes in range of your hand and suddenly there he is.
The problem is with Cole is that up until Lambert revealed him, he didn't seem aware of what he was but afterwards he remembered as Lambert discovered to his cost. So with Lambert gone, did he revert back to his Cole persona properly or will he just be faking it?
I can imagine there will be a fair few problems with a number of your other companions if you recruit him and they know what he is. Strangely enough Dorian and Solas may be more liberal minded because they have had more dealings with spirits in the past and so are better able to assess his intent. I can definitely see him as being ultra loyal to the Inquisitor if you gain his trust and don't betray it. I could imagine him loitering around the Inquisitor's bedchamber, keeping guard when they are asleep, which could be useful in view of the possibility of assassins, but also a bit unnerving.

While he might be different post-epilogue, I don't think he'll be that different. One of the themes that seems to be prevalent with "Cole" is that the human that was once Cole left a very deep impression on the spirit/demon/whatever that is now what we know as "Cole". I can imagine him having some control over his abilities (specifically the part about being invisible to most people) now, but maybe not 100%? Compared to Imshael, Cole seemed to be an amateur/novice. This would lend very well to him growing through inquisition, story and combat mechanic wise.

Equal parts endearing and creepy.
I've actually thought about a similar scenario happening. Like Cole comes to alert the Inquisitor about something but they're asleep. Cole comes in and was going to wake them up, but then is worried that waking them up might make them mad so he just stands there awkwardly for a while, being kind of creepy but not intentionally. ![]()

Cole: "Inquisitor? I don't like the loud noises and flashy lights. Can I say here tonight?"
Inquisitor: *sighs* "Fine..."
*5 minutes later*
Sera: "Inquisitor? I had a near miss with a lightning strike one time and I've never really liked storms since. Could I-"
Inquisitor: *grumbles* "Fine."
*10 minutes later*
Iron Bull: "Ummm, so, Inquisitor-"
Inquisitor: *snaps* "Fine!"
*The next morning*
Cassandra: "Inquisitor? I though we'd agreed to meet to discuss..."
*Sees Iron Bull splayed on the bed, the Inquisitor stretched out on the floor, Cole curled up nearby and Sera's arm sticking out from under the bed.*
Inquisitor: *sleepily* "Ah, Cassandra... I'll be with you in a moment."

Alright then. Solas and Dorian are the only other characters who have yet to receive the little interview on the site with their writers.
So maybe once they've been covered we'll get Cole.
Or not...

My interest in Iron Bull already plummeted once I heard he was still a Qunari spy, so his possible clash with Cole might be cause for him getting near permanently benched.

For Cole's sake, I hope that Iron Bull isn't someone who can see him, or isn't someone who'd remember him if he could.

If Iron Bull tries to hurt Cole, he will suffer the same fate as all the Qunari in my DA2 playthrough.
Same here. I am interested in Iron Bull is a character, and I might end up liking him, but even if I do anyone who tries to hurt Cole is getting the Mama Bear treatment from all my Inquisitors. No exceptions.
It's possible the guy on the left is "Cole",he doesn't look like Solas for me anyway...
The expression doesn't really fit Cole, I think, who I am not sure even has a sense of humor...? And the pipe doesn't really fit him either, not to mention he really doesn't look anything like the mysterious blonde guy who we've seen in pictures and think is probably Cole so far.
