Oh good lord, the quote. The kind of character development that hits me right in the chest. Rhys would be incredibly proud, I think. ;_;

I'm wondering if I'll be comfortable taking him into combat.  Child soldiers and all that

It is interesting the different reactions he provokes. Personally I came out of asunder with a creepy and very negative view of Cole, so the parental protective vibe he seems to provoke from others is strange to me. Interested to see how he is going to be introduced to inquisitor.

Yes, I've seen many people who seem to feel the same way as you. Even just in the last few pages on here there are many different reactions to him, it makes it hard for me to decide how I feel about him just based on others' opinions. I have a feeling he will be one of those "love him or hate him" characters that get people really talking a lot haha.

I was thinking the same thing , weeks ago.

But ...well he's a killer. And I think he needs to kill to keep on living.(blood magic).

If he's possessing a corpse , the corpse is rotting.

And if he's not possessing anything , well he'd need some power source I guess.

Cole was just a kid living with an abusive dad, his young sister and his mother. In the fade, I'm not entirely sure what happens but I think when its discovered he has magic, his mother tries to protect him but his father kills her. Cole and his sister hide in a drawer, and Cole covers her mouth to keep her quiet, accidentally suffocating the little girl. Or atleast, I think that's what happened. I might have misunderstood.

Then, he is dragged to the Circle and thrown into a cell. And... Oops, they forget they brought him in and he is forgotten. He prays for the Maker to help him, but nothing answers him... except a... spirit?

My point is, what we know of Cole so far is an extremely lonely sad kid with a terrible childhood. Reading Asunder, I wanted to give him a hug, it was so sad learning he was just following Rhys no matter what because he was so afraid he'd be alone forever if Rhys left him. It was sad.

Seeing how two of the pictures are in the Western Approach, maybe he is still wandering there for some reason. Maybe Rhys died in the peace-meeting, and Cole is now wandering.

Child soldier...? What? He's not even human.

Also it seems like he doesn't have control over his powers still, from that quote. I'm assuming the Inquisitor's fade-hand has some play in remembering Cole, but I wonder how it'll be with the rest of the companions... :crying:

Cole is a spirit with an alien way of thinking. He isn't and has never been a human child. Spirits have simplistic ways of thinking and they don't understand the mortal world. He's not any more of a child soldier than Justice was. Granted, we can hope it ends better with him than it seems to be heading for Justice.

He looks like Evan Peters in AHS.  HOW APPROPRIATE.

I am stoked on this.  Can't wait for the interview with his writer to go up on the website.

That quote - right in the feels!

Happy to have some confirmation that Cole is actually in the game. :)

I really like the blurb we have - it seems to suggest that he still holds onto his 'good' morality. I imagine my initial Inquisitor will get along well with him.

And the artists did a great job on his character model - forget about daggers, all he needs to do is jump out of the shadows and yell "boo!" and I'm likely to die of a heart attack. :P

I knew Gaider and the designers of the actual character appearance wouldn't let us down. He definitely looked far too hot in the war room shot. This is Cole.

And now I'm more excited and intrigued than ever to meet him in game and have him in my party as my loyal friend. (:

Agreed. Everyone else is a fully functional adult who can decide to follow me... If cole really has a kids mentality I think I'd recruit him and leave him at the keep where he's safe. I know he kills people already but I'd rather help teach him why he shouldn't and how he can use his abilities to help in other ways than use him fr killing.

Of course I haven't read the books so maybe I'm totally off base

I'm going to find it really hard on some playthroughs to be mean.. it'll break my heart to upset Cole.. :(

I would be really, really surprised if his writer wasn't Gaider.

Justice wasn't inextricably tangled up with Kristoff's memories, though. Cole's personhood is very different from Justice's, and I think it's a mistake to think the two cases are really comparable.

I think so, too, but I've been wrong before.  We'll see!

Considering he is a spirit, he is probably older than all our companions, maybe even older than all put together.

I liked Cole in Asunder but based on the little write up they did, he won't be getting along with my main Dwarf.  So I guess he'll just disappear and will be forgotten by the team.  I can't wait for the banter of party members who are struggling to remember little Cole when he decides to leave my party when my Dwarf goes on a slaughtering spree.

maybe he was *born* in the tower where the real cole was. maybe real cole's despair created this despair demon (perhaps he was in a section where the veil was especially thin). and this *demon* could also be...incomplete and so in order to stabilize himself it instinctively takes on Cole's appearance and his memories (though locked away).

In it's mind perhaps to cope with it's own existence, he's a normal boy with a strange *condition*.

lots of ifs, but still makes sense to me :P
