I JUST REALIZED THAT WAS COLE LIKE 6 MINUTES AGO AND THAT QUOTE!! THAT QUOTE OH MY GOD MY HEART

I really hope we can like idk keep him around even after
Yes
It is not a real life
It is a story
Every story has a purpose, a beginning, a middle and an ending
Every character goes through character development and every important action has a significant meaning and some moral value
At least in proper, good stories
Unless of course you're the Uncle Shegorath and your stories are made of chaos. But even chaos has its own order
In the context of the entire story spanning both the video games and the books, are the actions made by the characters pointless?
Assuming they do end up dead in Inquisition, which we have no idea about anyway.
looks like I am going to have to get the books to see how Cole is
I agree; the introduction will pretty much set the tone, I think.

Same here. From what I've read of him, it seems his killings have mostly been mercy killings. But so many people seem to loathe him that I'm pretty certain I'm missing a lot of his character and need to educate myself more on him.
I hope I can quickly boot him from my group.
Or should I keep him around just to make sure he doesn't get into trouble?
Or maybe just kill him because he's some sort of demon/abomination thing?
I wonder how he'll be introduced in the game. That will be a big factor in how my PC reacts.
Character background could contribute as well. Dalish view all spirits as dangerous, and (traditionally) avoid using schools of magic involving spirits, which could make recruitment difficult for a player who is playing a traditional Dalish protagonist. A Vashoth may share Qunari ideals about the Fade as the "Land of the Dead", and a mage may even have reservations about having a potential spirit or demon in their midst. Perhaps a companion might offer to watch over Cole if it becomes an issue, as something of a middle ground - in order to avoid contradicting who the player is roleplaying as.

There's a little more to his "mercy killings" than you'd think, in the book. This is why opinions are so divided. But there's a lot more about his character that makes up for it and somewhat justifies it, in my opinion.
But you'll have to read it.. I'll say no more ![]()
i would enjoy killing that rotten emo deamon again and again
So Cole when from little kid to scarecrow really fast. My little messed up brother is growing up so fast. ![]()

So, I'm not the only one who thinks he looks emo? Nice to know.

What did you expect?
He's been through a great deal. He's still going through a great deal, I assume. I hardly expected him to be some preened, golden skinned prince. That wouldn't fit his character at all and I think BW have done an outstanding job. (:

It's a terrible pun, I know, but I couldn't help but laugh when this song came on during my drive home from work after Cole's reveal today.
Perfect. ![]()
*tries to ignore image of Cole doing a stiff, expressionless shoulder-jig to the beat*
...now that Cole's been officially announced, I pretty much can't stop thinking that when Gaider said the most difficult moment he's ever had to write was in Inquisition he was talking about Rhys and Evangeline (his characters) dying in the Breach.
When/where did he say that?

I am gravely concerned for those two. ![]()

He does look a little more dead than he did to the in the book. I like the scarecrow hat it makes me wish Shale was in DAI. The hats in DAI are awesome.

I can imagine Cole's reactions being pretty hard to stomach, if you're a Cole lover (like moi)... oh my.. ![]()
I am looking forward to how our inquisitor can react to/deal with that, though.
Alright, I'm finally caught up. Happy Cole reveal day everyone!
Someone: "need to get the books now i guess"

for those who may be daunted: Cole only appears in one of the books, Asunder by david gaider, and the books can definitely be read separately / singly. you need only read one book if you want to experience Cole's book background ![]()
tho i would recc them all cause i loved them all but
just in case people were daunted and thought they had to read a whole series or something
