I wonder if the profile descriptions is literal. If Cole decides to leave the group, I wonder if the PC will be shown to actually forget he was ever there.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. I find it hard to believe that Bioware would spend so much time building up these characters (Rys, Evangeline, and Fiona) only to kill them off screen with nothing more than an honorable mention. More over I'm still not convinced that they don't intend to either:

 

A ) have Fiona meet with Alistair somewhere down the line (whether it be in Inquisition, another book, or another comic)

 

or B ) Assuming that Fiona is not in fact Alistair's mother, use her as a conduit to reveal the third descendant of the Calenhad's bloodline. 

 

That's not to say I don't think any of them are beyond being killed off, I just think it would be done in a way that is more unique and meaningful to their individual characters (Wynne's death being a perfect example for what I mean).

 

As to why Cole would follow the Inquisitor, well, I got the impression at the end of Asunder that Cole didn't want to burden Rys and Evangeline with his presence any longer; otherwise, why hadn't he sought them out by the time of the Epilogue? And I know it's been mentioned before, but I don't think it would be a far stretch to think that the mark on the Inquisitor's hand allows him/her to see/remember Cole without trouble. On top of that, I'm sure Cole would see the Breach as something of interest / something he should help do something about if he can. 

 

That's just my theory on the whole situation anyhow

As for Evangeline, Fiona, and Rhys, I hope you are right. They are easily some of my favorite EU characters in the Dragon Age franchise.

I have to say I'm honestly shocked we're getting Cole before Dorian or Solas. I would have figured Cole was the one they wouldn't reveal anything about before release.

I hope so. Even if we as the player would still know, removing any sign or trace of him from the game would be a really nice touch.

I would also like if the characters still somehow have subconscious recollection of him but not conscious recollection, like if someone went to where he stayed to chat with him daily you find them standing there with no idea why they came into the room.

So now I expect in terms of reveals: Dorian, Solas, Leliana, Cullen, Scribbles in that order.

They said in the Follower Friday thread that the new system was to try to reveal everyone before release, but I was surprised Cole came before Dorian or Solas.

I never put it passed them to out and out lie; when they said nine companions, I figured that meant ten, with one who wouldn't be revealed until late into the game, similar to Loghain or Legion. I figured if Cole was going to be a companion(which I didn't consider likely) he'd occupy that spot.

 

So over all I'm surprised at how forthcoming they're being.

Ahah! He looks perfect, haunted eyes and just weary looking all around. Now that we have a way better look at his face I feel a bit better being able to get a proper look at him. And his clothing is perfectly dorky as well, loving that massive hat of his. Still can't figure out the color of his blasted eyes though dangit. 

 

I was surprised too how he was released before the others. A pleasant surprise none the less but with all the teases of Solas and Dorian they really felt like the natural fits for the the reveals. Must be wanting to throw a bone to the Cole people, since there's been nothing on him up until now XD

Physical and corporeal mean the same thing. Incorporeal means that it isn't physical or solid.

 

And Cole's body is very much corporeal; Lambert gives him quite the vicious beating.

Well, at this point I'd be surprised if anyone was a, uhhhh... surprise. I think it's the 9 we saw in the war room and there wont be any big shocks about who we pick up or what their basic motivations are by time of release. You never know, though. I mean, a lot of people were assuming Dorian or Cole had to be scratched after the "characters have been cut or substantially changed" business.

1) In DA II, Hawke had to take along an abomination who shows a violent lack of control ten minutes after they meet. This is in a game setting where abominations are considered the most terrifying and dangerous things possible. I want DA I to give me the CHOICE to not have companions that the average person would rightfully want to be as far away from as possible.

2) The entire plot of DA I is based around keeping demons/spirits out of the mortal realm. Cole is some strange demon/spirit thing that has already murdered people. This is a bit like the Grey Warden being offered a darkspawn companion. It's fine if some PCs want to bring him along, but mine likely won't.

Oh, I completely understand haha. I hope you don't think I was attacking on the people who feel that way. It's actually really an awesome thing to me to see how people react differently to these situations. I just personally can't form an opinion myself I feel until I've read up on him more. I can certainly understand though how some people would just want to immediately get spirits as far away as possible from themselves, especially after DA2. It's probably not the wisest decision to have one around no matter how one feels towards them in retrospect. xD
