I wonder how Cole joins the Inquisition. He doesn't seem like a person who runs around trying to save the world.

Yeah, I wonder that too.. especially if he's supposed to be child-like still.

He could just tag along with us, if he sees us as his only friend and ally. Much like Isabela, Zevran and Fenris did - they are also not the kinds of person who would run around trying to save the world ^_^ They just wanted to help us because we helped them.

True! He's so cute, my Dalish Mage & Lady Qunari Inquisitor are going to probably mother him lol

I think it might be because Rhys and/or Evangeline might die in the blast, still.  :(

Cole seems very protective of his friends. I think he would join to help find the person responsible if he knew they hurt his friends.

I agree with Mort, I have a feeling it's because Rhys and Eva are going to be apart of this explosion that apparently happens at the start of the game where all the important people are having a meeting for. Though I don't see him having reunited with them so never gets the chance to actually go back to them and then was out of time.

Joining the person who was there and has the power to stop it from possibly happening again, seems like something Cole would end up doing. He has nowhere else to go, no one to turn to, Inquisitor probably wont be effected by Coles 'curse' now that I thought about it since the Inquisitor has a connection to the Fade with glowy hand time.

Likely. If this summit is actually for the mage/templar war, then it won't be a surprise to see Rhys and Evangeline there. And it would make sense if Cole was there too (maybe he wanted to be sure that his friends are all right).

P.S.: Your avatar is so cute I can't stop looking at it! ^_^

Can't help but see the image, that the Inquisitor is the only one who sees Cole because of the connection to the fade, he/she will be talking to him looking utterly mad to the rest of the companions.

I think it would be surprising if some of the mages couldn't see him, though. Solas is supposedly a "fade expert" and rumor is that Dorian could be a powerful, exiled magister that specialized in spirit healing. If those things are true about those characters, they'd certainly be able to see Cole, it seems like.

I still really hope everyone can see him now, though. The jokes and stuff aside, I think it would be great for his character development if he could be "real" to everyone finally.

Heh, I can see that coming! In fact, I wrote a fanfiction after reading the book and it was all like you said - the Inquee was the only one seeing and taking to Cole, and her friends thought that she was mad or possessed by a demon ^_^ It was simultaneously funny and sad...

If those things are true about those characters, they'd certainly be able to see Cole, it seems like.

Maybe Solas will be a medium like Rhys was? It would explain both his "expert of the Fade" title and the ability to have a connection with Fade creatures. I can say that not all mages are able to see Cole (Adrian, for example, or all those mages in the White Spire), only those who have a strong connection to the spirits.

I don't think it was ever stated that there absolutely won't be a romance with Cole, but Gaider expressed that (paraphrasing) it's a bad idea and you should feel bad. I don't want to put words in his mouth but I will point out a few things that Gaider might have also said in those posts. Cole doesn't even really bat an eye at sex like when he sees people in the White Spire steal desperate moments together; it's inconsequential to him. Cole also had the mental capacity of a child, at least when considering things like social interaction (but don't confuse this with him being stupid). But at the same time, while in his viewpoint in Asunder, he repeatedly thinks of different female characters as pretty. I'm not sure if this just means he has an appreciation for aesthetics or if he has some underlying desire, but that's for Gaider to decide, not us. If I could remember where the sources were I'd link them, but I have honestly no idea where to start. Old forums, here, twitter; I honestly can't remember anymore, sorry. I think a lot of the "I want to romance Cole" stuff popped up after the analogy to Evan Peters' character in season 1 of American Horror Story as well...but then again almost every character in Bioware's games have overzealous fanbases like that. So it's not really surprising that people hope he's a romance.

Edit: if Bioware/Gaider did decide to make him a romance, I'm sort of hoping his would be an asexual one. He has the capacity to care a great deal about people he considers his friends, but I just don't know if sex really seems appropriate for his character.

In truth, I would like to romance Cole, but not in a sexual way. It's not really within his character, but thats what I like about him. Romance isn't all about the physical aspect anyway. It would be nice to have a love interest like him. Although its up to David Gaider to decide.

So more like, best friend him rather then having a relationship that would be considered 'romance', since romance in the DA games, and peoples mindset of it seem to be, it would be a physical one.

Some theories on Solas are that he could be a dreamer or an ancient elf. It's hard to say what exactly his "fade expert" status entails. Some people have linked the Dorian concept to the mention of an exiled Tevinter spirit healer that had extreme, unprecedented talent in one of the comics. If that's true, he actually is basically what Rhys and Wynne were, just arguably even better at it. Neither of these characters have a lot of information out yet, though, so I guess we'd have to wait and see what they can do.

I'd still rather Cole could interact with everyone, though, honestly.  :(

David said he was writing three characters and two romances. Any idea who that will be?

Well we know Cassandra is one for sure, I'm thinking maybe Solas or Cullen for the other

One is most certainly Cassandra as she was confirmed as an love interest sometime ago with Cullen. Cole sure as butts wont be it but he was written by Gaider in the books so I don't think he would give that baby up.

Has it been told who the others are Gaider is writing this time around? I don't think Cullen is one of his, I have my pennys on either Dorian or Sera.

Me too, I just think he can interact with those he wants to interact with, and be invisible to those he doesn't like. He seems to have mastered his powers towards the end of the book, so... it's all up to him, really.

Well we know Cassandra is one for sure, I'm thinking maybe Solas or Cullen for the other

David also said that he was writing a character he have always wanted to write, and this character was to his liking. My bets are on Cole ^_^

If he's writing Dorian or Sera then it means either of them will be a LI, which is a good thing.

I'm sure David Gaider wrote Cole. I absolutely can't see him giving Cole to someone else. We know he wrote Cassandra. I think the last is probably that he finished/re-wrote Cullen.

ah yush. Jennifer was no doubt writing Cullen before she quit x) she did write him in DA2 I think. so david probably decided to take over
I'm really hoping that the second romance will be solas tho..but, the chances are nigh

Cole is of course david's character since he's from Asunder sooo..

Cassandra
Cole
Solas/or/ Cullen

My guess leans towards Patrick Weekes writing Solas. It's mostly that I think Solas makes the most sense for blending with The Masked Empire and the Eluvian/elf plot.

I think a romance with Cole as a mage Inquisitor could be really interesting. Especially given the Inquisitor's connection to the Fade.

I can appreciate David's reaction, though, and he's the only one who could make such a romance plot work. C'est la vie.
