we need Patrick to comment as well. I mean, I know his answer will be the same but when the writer of the character in the game says no, that should put it to rest.

The creator of the character has spoken. Wanting to romance him is bad and disturbing. That's the end of it.
You know, I never thought of that scenario being what it was. I guess because last time I looked at the concept art was before we knew the advisers would be out of the keep a lot.
With the way DG laughed so sinister about it, and how much he likes to cause the fanbase 'pain' and how he's laughing in the Cole thread... my mind went there first XD also with how selfless Cole seems to be from the interview I could see him trying to take the blows for someone else who can't defend themselves.
Unlike Liliana and Cullen, Scribbles seems to be the most non fighty type of the whole situation unless she has super secret skills, but I don't think they would go down that route for her to change it up.
To be fair, we know he has the mind of a child because we got told so by the person who created him. Iron Bull does not have access to these forums.
I expect the Bull to bring it up in party banter, and to quickly realize that it's just... not gonna happen. Honestly, I'm picturing in my head a scene from Supernatural, where Dean is trying to get Castiel, an angel, laid via a prostitute. It... does not go well.
Except it wouldn't get to quite that point, because I don't think Cole would grasp the concept of having sexual urges, or needing to fill them, or people directing those urges at him.
BULL: So, that girl back at the tavern. She was pretty lookin', right?
COLE: Um, which one?
BULL: Which--The one makin' moon eyes at you!
COLE: [BLANK STARE] Um.
BULL: She asked if you had a place to stay tonight. Twice.
COLE: Oh! She was really nice, wasn't she? Well, for awhile, anyway. She got really red when I asked if she had place for you, too, though. And then she just walked away.
BULL: [AGAPE]
COLE: [HESITATES] Did... did I do something wrong?
BULL: No, no. [SIGHS] Forget it.
Are you sure about that? Lol
Well, there will always be the "This person should be romancable" people, but a lot of it would die down.
Some people should really stop carring about what others think about them and their desires.
These are the same people who wanted to romance Bathany as Hawke.

People can think about what the hell they want. The only problem comes when they are taking steps to request that such a thing should be implemented.

We can but hope...

Ewwwww!
I don't know what is going on, but I am shocked and appalled. Why wont someone please think of the children!

No request is not a problem, demand is.
I would say demand is a bigger problem.
Alright guys lets simmer down a little on the romance discussion and cut out the off topic stuff. Let's not get this thread locked.
I'm going to enjoy the following posts.

Back on the romance issue, we are, huh?
Well, I've been waiting for an opportune moment to post this anyway.
First we have Cole during Asunder proper, who clearly has the mental age of a tween at best and is no proper romance material whatsoever for people even of his own age if he hadn't aged physically from the boy that was (which would open a whole other can of judgemental worms for the poor kid).
Then we have Cole in the epilogue who was certainly up for debate/interpretation.
Then there was David Gaider calling it icky because Cole still had the mental age of a "small child".
And now we have Patrick Weekes state that the Iron Bull thinks that Cole just needs to get laid.
I'm certainly confused, and don't know at all what to expect from his characterization in that regard during DA:I.
And while writing this dozens of new replies appeared. I'm curious where the discussion is at now, but won't click on "show me" for fear of Firefox crashing on me before posting this.
Uhuh, I am one of those people.

And the problem with requests is?
I'm super late to the party on this one, but regarding the discussion about whether making Cole do something terrible/go "full evil" would be a twist worth doing purely for shock value, just for the few people who were on board with the whole 'look after him' thing: I don't think there's anybody who would be genuinely suprised. Speaking for myself, I'd be disappointed in the character. But I wouldn't be suprised. The interest in the character is of knowing he's perfectly capable of doing terrible things and hoping he obtains the strength of character to not do them. Failure to do that wouldn't be a twist, just a bit of a tragic narrative.
Maybe we should be given a chance to harden him to set him on an evil or angelic path.

True. Gaider isn't usually that up front with his teasing. And Cole definitely seems to be going the Casper route rather than the Gozer route. I mean, having another spirit go insane the next game after Anders/Justice is too predictable in my opinion.
And yeah, there is some who think she may be a mage since Cullen is a Warrior and Leliana Rogue, but I see her being more of a true noncombatant. Thus needs defending more than the other two advisers.
Well, there will always be the "This person should be romancable" people, but a lot of it would die down.
I doubt it, when the guy who created the character flat out tells people "this character has the mind of a child, he doesn't understand the concept of sex or romance" and people still say things like "no he doesn't, I didn't get that impression. Besides, he's not even human so he can't have the mind of a child." or the even creepier "that doesn't mean he couldn't be tought" (uggghhhhhh) then I wouldn't expect them to die down.
Uhuh, I am one of those people.
And it was just as sick back then as it is now.
What were David Gaider's most recent posts about Cole? I know he said quite a while back that at least Asunder Cole was child-minded. Someone said he said something more recently on Twitter? Does anyone have a quote of it?
