Sad for Cole, but that is my thought as well. Although if we are lucky Evangaline won't be with Rhys and she'll have her own vengeance plot arc (Anders v2, this time in a Templar, just for the lolz

Part of me thinks Cole joins in the first place because he thinks the Inquisitor can help him find Rhys.

I think after the book Cole realized he couldn't go back to Rhys after the reveal. I mean he, he might watch from afar yes, but I figured because of the ideas Lambert had put into Rhys' head about Cole being possibly a demon thing and the idea of having been manipulated by Cole horrifying him (he admits that to Eva I think at the end) Cole knew that their friendship can't be a thing anymore.

Wynne's spirit lives in Evangeline, not Rhys.

Eh mages are probably in their own factions during the war simply because I can't see Rhy working with the likes of Fiona and Adrian, more so after the events in Asunder.

I also don't think a spirit would protect you from the blast.  Heck, I think its implied Wynne actually stays dead too if you kill her since I don't think she shows up in Awakening if you did so.

Yea, they pretty much are factions but Fiona is like Grand Leader of the Mage Rebellion
