I think the point is moot. They've said the game is content complete, right? They're not going to put in the extra work for reworking parts of the plot, building new cutscenes, recording new dialogue; all for something they didn't want to do in the first place.

@Cat Blade- Ok, Cole literally cannot comprehend romance or sex, he sees it taking place, but he doesn't know what it is or why people do it. He doesn't get aroused, nor does it stir up any emotion at all in him. He doesn't understand anything about it, just like a small child. He also displays other childlike behaviours, like latching on to the first person to show him any attention and kindness (that being Rhys.)
Do you seriously think you could romance someone like that without feeling like you're taking advantage of him, or worse?

Cole's character has changed considerably since Asunder. He's definitely older, more mature now.
David never said he wouldn't be a romance option, he said that Cole as presented in Asunder would not make a good romance option.

Just read Cole's interview and I have to say it's kind of weird that Sera, someone who shares Cole's belief in protecting the innocent and defenseless, has a problem with him, while Iron Bull, who's afraid of demon and other such malevolent Fade-spirits, is nice to him. Doesn't that make Sera something of a hypocrite, or is it just that she takes issue with the extremes to which he'll go in service of protecting the innocent (sort of like how The Punisher is labelled an anti-hero while Black Widow is referred to exclusively as a hero). I'll be interested to see who else has a problem with the lovable murder (Cullen maybe?).

Can we just not debate the LI situation on either side? We'll find out who the romances are in good time. Until then it really isn't going to kill anyone to let people keep hoping a High Dragon will make the chart, if that's what they want.

And yeah, if anyone has a problem with Cole I think it will be Cullen.

Thank you.
I understand people want to speculate and talk about romance, but there's no use in getting all worked up over it.
Let's just wait and see. (:

I think it's a really nice turn around to see that the characters aren't so one tracked minded in thier personal opinions that they can either be a hypocrite to having the exception to the rule. I can see Sera having issues with Cole because possibly his way of helping people is entirely different to her own along with she may be so horrified by the fade creatures for what has happened to the world. Having one of the 'enemy' on the party could be really weird.
Though her 'wont even talk to it' comes off as really childish.
I loooove the fact Iron Bull would see the usefulness over the mystery. It tells a lot about him being able to trust a team mate who wants to help the team.

This is also really strange to me... I'm assuming she wont like him because he is a spirit/demon. Calling him "it" though is pretty extreme. I dunno if I can keep her around if she's doing that constantly. Hopefully there will be some learning, growing and acceptance. If not, I guess I'll have to swap her for Iron Bull.
We don't really know anything yet though so I'll just have to see and judge the situation once it plays out.

I don't see why Sera calling Cole an "it" is extreme. Do demons/spirits/whatever Cole is actually have different genders?

Part of the issue is that everyone's taking Cole's desire to help people at face value.
The simple answer as to why Sera dislikes Cole despite Cole's desire to help people is that Sera doesn't believe Cole's desire to help people is genuine.
We, as readers and players can come to the conclusion that Cole, at least, believes he's not malevolent even if he's wrong. But characters working without the information we have have every reason not to trust him.

It's just because its assumed Sera uses it in a demeaning fashion which she likely does. It can also be considered offensive if Cole does consider himself a 'him'. On the other hand, calling Legion in ME2 'it' isn't offensive even if Tali used it that way since even Legion simply referred to itself as 'This unit' or some variation of that.

She clearly does not have the knowledge to even consider that. Why is it surprising someone is freaked out by someone that is a being that people normally tell horror stories about?

Also let's not forget that Cole's idea of help usually involves slitting the throats of those he's "helping."

Generally calling a person "it" implies you don't believe they deserve your recognition as a real person and no better than some thing.
Technically "he" can be used as gender neutral in the case where you don't recognize if they have a gender. Or the singular "they" which is more popular but seems less formal to me.
