True. It's just a really weird design lol

Man, I really want to get to know Cole better once the game hits, but as someone said in another thread, I tend to play rogues and four rogues (Varric, Sera, Cole and myself) would probably lead to a lot of humorous deaths. I still might try it in a future playthrough, but for now I'm rather torn between Sera making into my party (my "little sister") or Cole (my "little brother.")
You don't mix it up a bit? Change the roster as you're progressing through the story to get to know the different companions, I mean.
Varric's little joke. He tells Cole that he has to wear ridiculously silly hats so that nobody forgets him. ![]()
As for Sera's reaction, I understand where it comes from, but I think it's inherently harmful. When your first reaction is, "THIS IS A THING I'M NOT USED TO GET IT AWAY STAB IT DON'T TALK TO IT", you forego ever learning anything. Cole is a unique chance for a learning experience. Progress is always risky, but it's often worth it. That isn't to say some caution isn't warranted, but Sera seems to be dealing with the situation the least maturely of the group. Which, I guess, is not surprising for someone that was described as "bratty" in official materials.

I might switch up Cole and Varric for my dagger rogue
Otherwise, I'll have Dorian and Iron Bull in my party.

He needs to have a word with Vivienne then, she can help with that...

I agree. Her desire to call Cole "it" kinda bothers me.
So what about coles hat? Do you think he can glide with it? or is it to keep the sun off his head? (will all rogues get those kinds of hats?) Oh and to me coles hair looks like sand, which is interesting!
I think his silly and obnoxious hat is adorable and suits him.
People need to stop picking on his hat xD

Four rogues sounds awesome to me.
It might not be ideal for Nightmare but hey.

I'm thinking he takes it off and wafts it good to create a gust of wind to knock foes off their feet!
I can't see it being very practical in battle..
Oh I love Coles hat, it reminds me of Big Hat Logan from Dark Souls, or just giant mage hat in general is so dorky looking with that outfit he wears in the preview shots. His outfit reminds me a lot of Solas' bum outfits. Those two totally dig their clothing up from the same trash heap.

I think the game will be balanced enough to where you could pull off having that type of character set up. At least I hope. Since each one of the characters are apparently their own style of fighting. You could maybe play the game like an assassin style surprise attack advantage type of deal.
I was worried about my team as well since I was planning on two mages (myself being one) and two rouges because I wanted Varric and Cole on the same party, but it changed up the more I heard about Iron Bull so I guess I'm all balanced ish out XD
Vivienne's intention of banishing him might be more mature, I guess, but I don't think it's better then Sera's. At least the former (other then, again, not knowing the details of her opinions) is set in Ignoring him mostly. As for Sera's reaction, I understand where it comes from, but I think it's inherently harmful. I do, but it would be hard. It's hard between choosing favorites; I thought Cole was awesome in Asunder; I've been a long time fan of Sera since before she had a name; and of course, Varric. I'm sure I'll mix it up, but I really need more information on the rest of the companions first.
Vivi is very awesome, but way too caustic for my taste. Varric is my boy, so he stays in. Cassandra...well, I don't dislike her, but I really need to see her as a person in game and not just as the interrogator. If Dorian fits any idea of what I picture his personality is like, he's in. I do know I probably won't have Cole and Sera in my party at the same time.

I will have to make a point of mixing up the "take your job seriously" brigade (Cassandra, Vivienne, and Blackwall) and the party brigade (Bull, Sera, Varric, and maybe Dorian?). That should be fun ![]()

He's very fair skinned, he needs it to keep the sun off him...

It's equally as likely to result in stagnation in what we know about spirits and the fade, so I agree it's not a big improvement. As for who handles it better in the long run, we'll have to wait and see. It's mostly the implication of Sera's long term pettiness that makes her seem less mature.

I'm very fair skinned. I don't wear a huge hat. ![]()
I really like bringing all of the same characters along for a playthrough. Hear ALL the banters!
My first playthrough as it currently stands looks like Cole, Iron Bull, and then the most plot relevant character available.

If you haven't seen the Dawn of the Seekers yet, you should. I was on the fence about Cassandra before the movie, but then I saw her go all out badass and I couldn't help but like her xD

*Push Kirsty out into the sun.
You need to learn to endure the heat.

So am I, I don't, but...if I was in the sun a lot...which he will be right? I would! Heatstroke is nasty! He could even fit a couple of other people under there with him...he's like the party sun shade..
Well, I honesty don't think she won't talk to him for the whole game. Regardless how their relationship will evolve (it might become more negative), I don't think it'll remain like Patrick described. It seems to me he was describing the first part of their relationship. It's equally as likely to result in stagnation in what we know about spirits and the fade, so I agree it's not a big improvement. Not everyone is of the scholarly mind; Cole represents an opportunity to learn, but he also poses a clear and present danger. Learning from him is also inherently tricky as he possesses the power to manipulate memories. We don't know if that's limited to making people forget him entirely; he may very well be capable of making people forget specific instances of interaction with him that would taint the "learning process".
Even if he isn't capable of that, it's not unreasonable for characters in universe to believe he is and decide it's not worth the risk.
