FINALLY they removed the option of Blood Magic from the players. This of course means that they can finally do this sinister school of magic justice. And I would imagine that Necromancer will be plenty "dark mage" for all those who wants to play the evil mage.

Well I am guessing Solas will be a rift Mage.
I wonder what Necromancy will be like and what happened to Blood Mage? I can't imagine Bioware would do away with it.

As there are three spec's and what seems likely to be three companions for each class; perhaps every companion has one of these spec's as their own.
Cassandra's background story makes her a very likely Templar. That heavy armored bearded man with the sword screams champion to me. And I'm willing to bet Varric is an artificer.
Any thoughts on other companions? They could very likely have their own spec like in DA2, but i just felt like bringing this up.
(Not aware if there is a separate discussion for this topic)
Dunno, it's possible that companions could have their own specializations again.

So there is no spirit healer Spec? This means that healing has changed in some way, maybe all mages can heal now? I can imagine allot of this will be explained by the fade tear messing with magic.

There is nothing to explain. In DAO and DA2, there was a healing spell in the Creation school that any PC mage could take without a spec.

Especially since they've stated they're making battles more challenging when it comes to healing, I imagine they'd have to severely water down Spirit Healer, reviving companions and group heals could be a little overbalanced. Unless they're including those skills in the Creation tree?

Hm, I wonder if our companions will be using these specializations or if they'll have more unique variations of them as in DA2...

So...I haven't read alot, my apologies on this. Any ideas, if they will bring pickpocketing back to the rogue? Like they did on DAO? It made it interesting stealing things from passerby's

I think I speak for all mages when I say thank the Maker we have better hats! No longer will phenomenal cosmic power be hindered by silly headgear. So looking forward to the musketeer style hat! Magic is Might!

Well either we won't be able to do allot of healing (and reviving) or there will have to be some kind of change to healing. I guess it could be done with potions or something.
In DA2 Merrill was blocked from the creation school so I meant that they may make healing available to every Mage companion now but more watered down than spirit healer.

DAO Creation had group healing and buff. The thing is that DAO spec were just 4 skills with some passives while in DA2 they had more meat but the general magic schools had less. They probably just "reverted" Creation back.
Im expecting each companion will have a modified version of each spec like in DA2. Cassandra would be a "Seeker" oppose to a Templar, etc.
Cassandra was shown using a warhorn taunt skill in last year PAX demo, it was said to be a personal skill. It doesn't match "Templar", beside my little finger tells me she never had Templar training. her spec is going to be dragon hunter based with maybe a few "Seeker/Inquisition" stuff thrown in.
Not all DA2 companions had modified version of the in-game specs as well: Aveline was based on DAO Guardian and which was not available to the player in DA2.

From what I recall, the Seekers are a branch of the Chantry dedicated to hunting the Chantry's enemies and mages. That's why I assume her class may be similar to a Templar. But it's just speculation.
From the Dragon Age timeline:
"-100 ancient: The Inquisition is founded around this time. The loose association of Andrastian hard-liners hunt heretics and mages in the name of the Maker.
1:20 Divine: Senior members of the Inquisition form the Seekers of Truth." The Templar order is formed the same year.

i never saw dawn of the seeker, was cass a seeker throughout the whole movie, or was she inducted at the end... and if not, then what was she before that if not a templar?

Didn't Mike i think, i'm not sure say at one of the panels that there are more spells/talents in DAI that there were in either DAO and DA2? I'd like to think Inquisition will have a combination of the variety of Origins but the impact and usefulness of DA2.

Cassandra is a young recruit in the movie. I put recruit in italic, because she not referenced as such in the movie itself and she seems to over-rank some of the other members of the Seekers already.
Now for why I don't think she has Templar training:
- The movie featurette with BioWare, has Mike Laidlaw saying that the not all Seekers are taken from the Templars rank. There are exceptions.
- She was the apprentice of Byron, a higher level Seeker, in both combat and the "Way of the Seekers".
- Her character kit mentioned this "Cassandra joined the order shortly after the death of her brother".
- She is never called Ser by anyone like full Templars are, even when officially presented.
Most of what Cassandra do in the movie is fight like a Berserker and do a lot of "dragon hunting" stuff.

Really excited for the mage specalitions! Necromancy anyone?
That's it, my third character is going to be a heroic necromancer. Because irony.
I'm also pleased to see Champion return, it was, aside from battle mage, my favourite specalization, I always felt like a leader when championed up!
