Greetings. I'm sure by now we've all seen the goodness that is the new gameplay trailer, and after watching it again there was a line spoken by Cassandra which piqued my interest:

"You walked out of the fade, and our soldiers found you."

So, our Inquisitor emerged from the fade, which to me at least brings up a few crazy thoughts. Having "walked out of the fade", assuming by this Cassandra meant physically passing through the veil, this implies that the Inquisitor initially walked into the fade, but why would s/he do that? Or is the Inquisitor secretly a Tevinter magister looking to reopen the Golden City for the tourists?

But still, that would also come with the assumption that the Inquisitor is a mortal being, and not some spirit made flesh. If so, is the Inquisitor an abomination, or simply a spirit possessing a corpse like Justice? Are then the Inquisitor's many backgrounds merely figments of his/her imagination, or memories of the 'host' body? I must admit that to me this reinforces the whole Messianic vibe Bioware seems to have going for him/her, with the whole Last Supper thing at the end of the trailer.

I can imagine it: the being come from heaven (or in this case, the fade) to save all of Thedas from the armies of hell (or in this case, the fade :)).

But what are your thoughts about this tiny little tidbit of info? What do you think the Inquisitor is, after knowing what s/he was seen doing by Cassandra's soldiers?

He's probably what Sandal was talking about in DA II.

He's probably what Sandal was talking about in DA II.

"One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see." Did you mean this?

I've always been a fan of the theory that the Inquisitor is a spirit who happens to be wearing a meatsuit that happened to stumble into the Fade.

Spirit of order or maybe hope?

Perhaps something even great like one of the old gods or one of the elven pantheon.

While I am not a big fan of the theory, it does makes sense since the inquisitor is not even aware of how they got such power. I'm sure we'll find out in the end

I'd be annoyed if I couldn't really play an Elf or a Qunari.

I really hope the Inquisitor is not a spirit, I would find that to be very lame, and boring to be honest. As-well as predictable  <_<.

I hope I can just be a gifted "mundane". A skilled soldier or whatever. I'm up to my ears in abominations as it is. I don't want my own character to now be one. At least I had a choice to spec Spirit Warrior in DAO. And these theories sound more extreme than simply making deals with spirits. It also makes it odd for certain character possibilities (Chantry believers and Dalish disapprove of this kind of thing, while Dwarves shouldn't come close to the ability without a lot of  handwaving).

I've got no desire to play a knock off of Cole.
