Waking up alive as the sole miraculous survivor at the center of an explosion, being able to draw energy like no one else can, without having a clue as to who has been setting things in motion.  It does sound familiar.  Ah, as long as the Inquisitor can equip an N7 messenger bag without any pauldrons getting in the way, I'm set.  Seriously though, I am indeed excited for another Dragon Age experience.

But how does the Inquisition reflect on Thedan history?  Inquisitions in human history haven't exactly inspired joyous singing (aside from Mel Brooks perhaps).  Will the Inquisitor be able to depart from the main quest and let the player hook up again with the Grey Wardens, if so morally inclined?

And, will there be DLC allowing us to be able to jump into a Triton ADS or a Titan to fight Dragons across the realm?  That could be a very interesting EA-based crossover scenario, unless of course the mechs have no chance of winning.  I wonder which side would end up appealing more to Flemeth though...so many questions...

Isn't that how Lost Odyssey started as well... with that emo main character guy being the sole survivor of a giant explosion?

Ah well I guess every story is always a re-telling of some older story.

Edit: Ooh. I wonder if the Inquisitor survived the blast because HE/SHE WAS THE ONE WHO CAUSED IT, DUN DUN DUUUUUUN! :D

I have to say that was... unimpressed?  I guess? It felt like I've seen all this already. The protagonist surviving something and gaining a power, then he/she tries to find out what happened te fateful day and find the one responsible. Then comes the big reveal of the big bad, retaliation of the protagonist and finally defeating the big bad, the end.

But you what? After a bit of thought I remembered that DA:O was also following an old formula, and that turned out to be pretty darn good. So I think I will play the game, then decide whether it had a great story, regardless of the formula used, new or old.

Yes, I want to pilot the giant Tevinter war golems in a Titanfall crossover. This definitely needs to happen.

  • Shale: I was thinking I might, oh, join the Chantry. Become Divine. And have giant Andraste golems fashioned to conquer the lands!

Indeed it does - that is clearly Kaim Argonar from Lost Odyssey.

The Survivor

Your character, the Inquisitor, is the only survivor of the blast. You don’t remember exactly how you survived, but the circumstances are bizarre. “You survived this blast, but you actually walked out of the Fade when the soldiers found you,” Lee says. “So, you get pushed into the Fade, and as a consequence, you are marked.”

The Mark

As a souvenir of your time in the Fade, you have an arcane mark on your hand. It isn’t just decorative; it allows you to interact with breaches in the Fade – the giant one in the sky, and others you may find in your journeys. This mark is what makes you uniquely suited to lead the Inquisition and end the threat, but it also makes you a target for enemy forces. “Whoever caused this massive explosion – whoever is behind all this chaos in the world – is now hunting you for your mark,” Lee says.

The gameinformer article sheds a bit of light on the Inquisitor's "powers".

I don't have a 360 so I missed out on this one.  Funny that each console had a game that began with a similar motif.  Well, if it was good enough for them, it's probably good enough for a Dragon Age story!
