From article:

"In a forthcoming AusGamers interview with Aussie expat and BioWare producer Cameron Lee, it was revealed the normally ambiguous approach to in-game romance in the realm of sexuality would be receiving a more specific option allowing for more complex relationships.

"The romances are more complex both in type of romances going forward and how you go through that romance," Lee explained to us. "The different types of sexual orientation of the different kinds of characters around you is also more complex than in previous games. I think there's going to be a lot more realistic... realistic... you know what I mean -- anyway, more engaging and more involved than in previous games. That's definitely the goal, and we are definitely going to go out there with some characters just being one sexual orientation. And that previously wasn't the case. The real world reflects that so we're going to make a game that reflects that as well."

Dragon Age has always been known as an open and ambiguous beast where sexuality is concerned, and romance will continue to play a major role, only in more complex form built from the real-world. Hopefully this speaks volumes of the evolution and maturity of the series where Inquisition is concerned.

We'll have more from Cameron Lee soon, so stay tuned."

Thoughts?  Personally, I cool with this.  It gives me more incentive to play different characters and classes.  I will never understand why some people refuse to play anything other that their gender choice.  You AREN'T the Inqusitior, you're just playing as him/her.

Sighs.

I'll be fine with that as long as Cassandra is bi LI. >.> Tbh, i'm not that happy with the news.

Why is that so hard to understand? Some people just CAN'T play other than their own gender. And i don't play the Inquisitor like i'm her. I play her because she's a woman and i'm more comfortable with this gender?

I see the ME3 approach is carrying over. I approve, although I am secretly hoping DHMG is bi or gay :P

Agreed. I'm as straight a male as they come, but I'll dip into the female Warden/Hawke or play a bi or gay Warden/Hawke. Honestly, I play mostly as male because I just like it.

Back on topic, I like the idea. Of course, I'd prefer 2/2/2 but oh well. This makes things a little more interesting regarding replay value, which is 1. probably partly why they did it and 2. some people wanted it this way.

And why CAN'T you?  I don't understand why the thought of playing as a male character discomforts you?  I understand if you PREFER to play as a woman, but to flat-out refuse anything else makes no sense.

They didn't say there would be no bi romances, just that not everyone will be bi like DA2.

as long as the cool one can be romance-able by a female inquisitor I'm fine with this.

I think he meant by representation and not the actual number of LIs for the males

I meant I'd prefer the all bi deal like DA2. not that I'm against other sexualities being present, I thought it would be good for them to be shown as the non-LI companions so that we can still have the representation and all of the equal amount of options, romance who we want how we want. I would've rather restrictions on things other than gender but I'll deal.

Ummm... I'm not a fan.

Particularly because he uses the word "realism" and "real world" as the motivation for doing this.

May as well add automobiles and taxes and toilets and mortgages. This makes me think that he really doesn't know why they're making characters set sexualities, he's just randomly using the "realism" excuse.

Edit: This isn't a huge deal to me, mind you, it's just irritating.

What ME3 did was right, imo.

Personally a bit disappointed, I really rather liked having the choices available. Seems likely that they'll be doing the 2, 2, 2 route then. I look forward to more fleshed out relationships though.

Because it's my preference, simple as that.

There are already 84375489764985male protagonists out there, Dragon Age is one of the few games that allow me to play as a woman.

And yes, it makes completely sense. Hint: preference.

Personally I prefer this to them being player sexual(which I would have understood if there was less companions).

So I'm good with that.

Well that's a bit of a bummer, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised seeing as how even David Gaider, while appreciating the need for fairness, also preferred the set sexuality method. I'm interested to see how it plays out in the final game.

I'm actually going to attempt to play sans-romance the first time 'round and see how it goes. The only time I managed to actually do that with a DA game was the first time I played DAO. In my first DA2 play I sort of stumbled into the Fenris and Anders romances >.>...

Also, is anyone else annoyed that we keep having to ferret out information from this and that random source, rather than the devs just making some collective posts on things?

Well, there's always mods, for pc players anyway.  If you're a console player like me then you're screwed.
