I will be honest, I have never understood this argument, not at all. So far every Bioware romance has been monogamous, so every romance requires a new game to be experienced in full. Thus the four romances in DA2 required four separate playthroughs, no matter what you chose. Also, I don't quite understand what the class has to do with anything, but whatever. Besides, where exactly does this idea come that player should be pushed to play different playthroughs with characters they don't necessarily enjoy in order to get a small piece of content they wish? Exactly how is that against replayabilty, as even in your example if the player plays the game through with the same kind of character several times, it assumed that something in that playthrough gave them so much enjoyment that they repeated it. And so the game had replayability.
As for the news in general, although it is in no way a deal breaker for me nor does it really affect my playing style much, I am really disappointed by the news. They most likely have their reasons for it and it is their game to make, but it does feel a more step back for me. I just hope that they manage to emulate Mass Effect more on who they set the gay and bi characters as, as even though I liked Zevran and Leliana much more than Alistair or Morrigan, it still felt really weird that the two rogues with questionable histories and non-requisite roles in the story were set as the bi options.
This. This right here.

three?
Isabela
Merril
I hope you are not counting bethany, aveline couldn't be romanced, and tali is dlc
Three? There was only two: Merrill and Isabela.
I'm counting Tallis. She's not a full romance, but we can still put the moves on her and she's receptive.
The hot ones better be bisexual, that's all I have to say about it

Think he was counting Tallis.
I would have preferable to be able to chose a sexual orientation for the PC and have the LI's fall or not fall into line based on that. Which is kind of like DA2; except in DA2, no matter your gender all characters would try to romance you if they were the ones the Devs had written as being available to both genders. There was even effort to change dialogue based on this. Not sure how hard it would have been to implement a orientation check, but...
Of course we will not know the specifics for some time to come, but what I got from this is that there will no longer be an effort to change a LI to match gender. Basically that it is back to A is straight, B is gay/lesbian, C is bi.

Sebastian's DLC, too. So if you count Tallis, male and female romantic interests are even.

Hint Hint

I would like to point out that despite preferring a 2/2/2 split to "playersexual", it's not necessarily unrealistic to have characters that don't have a "set sexuality." Some people experience sexuality that's more fluid or just simply don't realize they're gay/bisexual until later in life. (For example, I'm bisexual but didn't start calling myself this until I was in my 20s--and despite at one point when I was 12 admitting that I liked both girls and guys--because I come from a very conservative background and barely even understood what being bisexual meant.)
Games for young children are just as valid as your run-of-the-mill AAA action games. In fact, many indie games are leading the forefront involving female protagonists. I can name quite a lot that have been announced recently.
And, gee, maybe some female players may want to be princesses or Pokemon trainers rather than a nameless female warrior covered in blood.
Gay/lesbian quadmates, I approve. If this means a gay character that isn't a non-squadmate that they slapped together with 5 minutes using the character creator, I'm all for it.
I can guarantee Cullen (who is an NPC) will not be gay. His legion of fangirls would go nutso.
I always cackle when people refer to Cullen fangirls as legion. ![]()
Douple post, whoops.
How? We had three beautiful, bisexual women to mack on.
Beautiful women ? Are you kidding me . The Male gamers got played.
Does it limit player choice? Yes. Is it more realistic? Yes.
Having a group of your friends be equality divided in terms of sexuality (2/2/2 split) doesn't seem more realistic to me than all bisexual.
I get your perception though, and again I must thank you for your great wording. ![]()
Hot ones?
He's talking about Solas. I think.
Sebastian's DLC, too. So if you count Tallis, male and female romantic interests are even.
Well Tallis is temporary and nothing really happens
So no I dont count her
For the same-gender LIs I am going to say it's DHMG and Sera. Bisexual will be Vivienne and Solas and everyone else is straight. Just some random guesses.

he does looks really good. assuming this is him on the far left.

You get more action from Tallis than any Fem-Hawke ever got from Sebastian.

It is. It matches his art on the survey.

Changing dialogue pronouns isn't exactly the greatest thing in the world.
Awwww man.
Well this is going to bother me until they confirm who is and who isn't romanceable by who.
This just adds another layer of nail-biting to the wait, honestly. It's disappointing after being spoiled by DA2's system but not completely unexpected.

Is this concept art or an in game snapshot?
