Actually she brings up grandkids, regardless of what gender you romanced.  So while she doesn't "nag" Hawke, it does show that her (or at least Malcome's) bloodline matters to her.

I think that's less "concerned with her bloodline" and more "really likes kids and would like to have some running around again so she can dote on them."

These people clearly miss out on many games then starring set protagonists. Sucks to be them especially if they only play female characters due to the lack of female protagonists but "only male" players would also miss out on great games such as the recent Tomb Raider.

Context is important.

Yes, some of those people may miss out on games.  That doesn't mean they can't ask for content that they'd like in the game that helps it be appealing to them.

Even then, for example, I have a heavy, heavy bias to play as a male in games that let me choose and define my character (including sex/gender).  That said, I still play and enjoy the recent Tomb Raider game.

Yeah I wonder how that's gonna make them "fleshed out" more? Are they actually going to come with backstories on how their sexualities have shaped their lives?

Hmm yeah sorry Natashina, guess you and your friends aren't REALISTIC! :P

Former lovers?  Spouses?  Tales of misspent youth?  Old crushes?  Love triangles?

From what I've heard this time romance will actually take PCs actions into account
BTW no blood mage specialisation this time

I've been figuring they would, so I'm glad to hear that.

I hadn't heard about them nixing blood mage, though. Even still, it was just a hypothetical. Neither Fenris or Anders should have been ok with romancing a blood mage, either.

Yeah, because I had all my friends take a "sexuality test" before I let them hang out with me.

Most of them happened to be non heterosexual, and most of us didn't start our friendship with "Gee, who do you bang and how often?"  So, again, it isn't "unrealistic" that a group of all non-heterosexual folks can be friends and even possibly date one another.  Crazy, isn't it?

I never stated that you cropped up people consciously

You just feel more comfortable with people of closer minds than people of alien minds to you

Im sorry if I have not made this clear

-____- Your really eager to send the Nick Cage elf to straight girls aren't ya :P

Sorry, girl, it's survival of the fittest. I don't want to end up with one option to choose from again. If you're in my shoes, you would do the same. Mwhahahahahah

Where was this stated?

People have been going on the website where it shows class specializations, hovering over the "coming soon", saving the picture, and it tells them the other classes (sorry if I didn't explain it good :3) The other mage specializations are Rift Mage and Necromancer. It makes sense though to remove blood mage, since they changed the healing system.

Isn't sexuality largely a non-issue throughout most of Thedas? The ONLY way I can see this having any significance is for gay/lesbian elves or nobles, so either Cass, Sera, or Solas, and it's unlikely to be Cass given her announcement as an LI already.

Honestly, the most 'fleshing out' I'm anticipating is a throw-away line, and nothing that couldn't be accomplished by them being bi and having previously had an s/s relationship. But that's ignoring writer discretion, and I do have to respect that as a writer who likes having ownership over the characters I write, if not necessarily as a player.

 Alien minds?  Um, straight people are not another race to me nor that foreign of a concept.  I've played straight characters in Dragon Age before (like my Amell Warden.)  My husband is straight, and he's no alien.  Well, unless men really are from Mars and women really are from Venus, but I think the 1970s was just weird.  Anyhow, most of the friends that I've been closer to over the years happened to be pansexual, gay or bi.  I also know a lot of straight allies that have most of their friends in the LGBTQ community as well.

Eh, to each their own.  I was only speaking about my group, no one elses.   ;)

I hope people understand that for some people even the 2/2/2 split may not be 'balanced' or 'fair' if the one companion or npc they were hoping to romance isn't available to them. Trust me, when we find out, some who are happy now, may not be.

I don't expect to get any of the NPCs I want to romance, because I don't expect they're going to be romance options at all. (Based on our current vague information, I am interested in Varric, Iron Bull and the Grey Warden.) But that's OK, because I expect to have a couple of guys to choose from.

I think it's fair as long as straight and gay PCs get the same number of choices. It may also be disappointing for some, but that's not the same thing as unfair. People were disappointed that they couldn't romance Aveline and Varric in DA2, after all, and I wouldn't call that unbalanced.

I don't know exactly what necromancer will entail(though I can guess), but I'm willing to bet that at the very least, Cullen wouldn't/shouldn't be interested in romancing one of them, either.

You guys should be happy for us, just as I was for the Cullen fans when he was announced as an LI. I may not like the guy but at least I didn't go on for 25 pages about how unfair it is and stuff.

Just saying.

Just as a heads up, I'm removing swaths of posts that are based on off topic tangents that tend to make references to posts that have already been removed.  Just as an FYI.

This is disappointing for me because I prefer have more options as a straight female which increases the replayablity for me but not unexpected. (yes, I just made that word up).

I hope people understand that for some people even the 2/2/2 split may not be 'balanced' or 'fair' if the one companion or npc they were hoping to romance isn't available to them. Trust me, when we find out, some who are happy now, may not be. And the speculation about who is able to be romanced and by who is only going to increase combined with ritual sacrifices and bribery to the RPG gods that they like the choices.

This is by no means a deal breaker for me because I don't play DA only for the romances but for the whole story and the world created.

Assuming it's 2/2/2 (which we don't know yet) Then everyone runs the same risk of not getting the LI they want.  Which is no different than DA2.  The only difference being in DA2, said character is unavailable to anyone.  I fail to see how one is less balanced or more unfair than the other.  You're still not getting the LI you want.

That said, I am pretty sure the LI availability will be pretty balanced,or at least the writers believe so.  I doubt they would have done this otherwise.

GEE, GREAT. Because when I romance someone the first thing I want to hear about is them going on and on about their past spouses and crushes?? :P

Anyway I don't think this makes sense... Just because a man, for instance, used to be married to a woman, doesn't mean he's straight, and doesn't mean that talking about her fleshes him out as a character.

What advice? I never said I stop talking. You're the one who said that, and now you can't stop talking to me. lol Unlike you, I can actually stop. If I only said the word "a", you would still make a reply. As for me, I'll be the adult here and stop talking.

If I may interject myself into this discussion; I don't consider people with different sexual preferences to be of any more an alien mind than people with different preferences for pizza toppings.

Where was this stated?

On the off website we can see icons of all three mage specialisations, though only one is unblocked
Thanks to some spyey guys in my community we already know titles for all spec...s except one of rogue spec...s
All in Russian though so I can't translate them correctly into English
No blood mage or healer this time

Love life and habits always influence a personality, since it is a very personal thing. What kind of people you prefer, were you ever heartbroken, rejected, tossed away...
