Same here. I trust that Gaider and Co. will give us awesome relationship arcs.

This.

Although I'll be disappointed if I can't romance certain people (not that I have any reason to be, it's not as if they promised us anything, it's all fan speculation), I know that the romances will be handled wonderfully, the writing team hasn't let me down before.

I think this is good news, and the 2/2/2 is a fair split. I really think that saying 'you won't by the game because of a romance issue' is really disheartening. If it's going to upset you so much, then maybe you should consider playing games that cater exclusively to 'romances'. I hear there is even a FTP yaoi dating sim on iTunes. ;)

I'm female hetero. I roleplay female hetero. So... I'm hoping for many male LI options. ... and not whiney ones. or cheaters.

However, according to Bioware's metric survey only 18% of all ME3 players played a female. Which I find really surprising given that so many men cross gender roleplay.

but data is data.

2/2/2 is a good idea. If the LI's can survive the Thedosian equivalent of Chiraq

Because if that person also expresses opposite-gender attraction and engage in opposite-sex relationships they are not gay, and cannot represent gay people.

I sincerely hope we get some clarification soon. With an announcement like this, some people (including myself) are a bit on edge, because in previous titles LGBT NPCs and companions have been kept in the minority and have largely been relegated to the sidelines.

There is a legitimate fear that lesbian and gay players will have fewer (or less 'flashy') options than straight players, given that this was the situation in every single Bioware game with the exception of DA2. It would be nice to know if we will actually get an even 2/2/2 split; a small part of me is worried we might face a 2/2 or 2/2/1 split, which would simply bring us closer to the DA:O system, which wasn't exactly fair. It would be terrible if, after getting a game with an equal number of choices for everyone, we were to find ourselves with a reduction in the number of options open to us. I think the sooner this is addressed, the sooner we can all settle down.

Also, some clarification regarding the two revealed LIs would be nice. I hope it's not too much to ask who has access to them now that we know there are added restrictions in place. Hopefully someone with a twitter account has already asked.

Ya straight males getting buttload of options while all others get short sticks was awesome.

Eh?

Straight men had Ashley ( if she survived ), Tali ( if she survived ) and Liara.

Straight women had Kaidan, Garrus and Javik/James in the DLC.

It's the bisexuals that won the cake in me3.

Does real life segregate, Plantiff? Or do characters need to adhere to how you want them because it's a video game? I still do not see how giving characters an actual character is in anyway comparable to segregating anything from anyone. But I guess sexual relationships are the only valid ones right? Can't just be friends with people because they are just waving their conflicting sexuality in my face, teasing me with the fact that they will never let me sleep with them.

Since segregation is wrong, period, it doesn't really matter if "real life" does it. Some aspects of real life are terrible, and should not be emulated anywhere.

I'm opposed to gender segregation of any kind of content, not just romances. When Bioware is the only studio that lets gay gamers finally be gay heroes for once, yes, I am vehemently opposed to them limiting the kinds of stories that gay heroes can experience. I am also opposed to limitations being imposed on straight players, and their straight heroes.

I can be imaginary friends with the dozens, if not hundreds of characters who will not be available for any kind romance.

Like I care? I don't need "friends" who try to silence me. I have enemies for that.

If people are upset, or "alienated" by what I have to say, it's their own attitudes that they need to examine, not mine.

Food for thought:

A bisexual person is not gay. I don't see how that needs explaining  :?

Irrelevant response. Mockingword is simply irritated that he no longer has the option to romance all possible LIs per character (including women).

Characters having "playersexuality" in no way hinders their character development.

From a sexual perspective, a playersexual NPC could still talk about how hot that girl looks and how hot that guy is.
From other perspectives, sexual orientation irrelevant to character.

Javik and James aren't romances.

Kelly and Allers aren't romances.

And let's not talk about the gay romances.

Why do people keep pretending like Jack, Miranda, Samara, Morinth, Kelly, Allers, etc. etc. etc. weren't options?

They may seem like "side conquests" to you but that's still 1 more side conquest which was given to gay men until Mass Effect 3. You had ZERO options until ME3, and giving a measly 2 options in comparison to the overarching 6 (three times more) that straight men had blows my mind. And the fact that people try to act like they don't matter because of x, y, and z reeks of privilege. You're able to say "they don't count" because you have better ones. Meanwhile gay men are given only 2 in all three games, and are then told "well at least you got that!!! I didn't get to explicitly bang Miranda or Jack in the third one even though it was highly implied we were still together!!!!"

That is straight privilege at its finest.

Ooh, I'm hoping for a 2/2/2 split. I just want a muscle-bear who's playing hard to get. It's always fun to deal with these ones

I'm opposed to gender segregation of any kind of content, not just romances.

So hypothetically speaking, you would be opposed to unique dialog options/quest solutions for female characters?

I.E a female character would be able to pose as a Chantry Sister in order to infiltrate a heavily guarded checkpoint whereas a male character could not (and would have to pose as a Merchant/Juggler or something similar, each with their own different skill level barriers/challenges).

Am I supposed to pondering the deep philosophical implications of Hulu's content only being available within the United States?

Ah yes, the "Samara wasn't a romance" argument

We've since dismissed that claim.

I repeat myself, but all LIs can be bi for all I care. What annoyed me about DA2 was the quantum state nature of Anders, Merrill, and Fenris where their orientation depended on my gender. It's especially galling when the character has a formative past relationship. I want to hear about Karl, f!Amell, and the Dawn of the Seeker chap regardless of what I play.

I can tolerate minor differences, but yes, I am opposed. It also doesn't help that much of the "gender-specific" content for DA:O came in the form of the female characters having to put up with sexist insults and sleazy come-ons.

I don't like your example at all, and I would definitely be opposed to it. Why does the female character have to be a Chantry Sister? There are female merchants. Also, Sebastian was a lay brother of the Chantry, or whatever they call it.

Unveiling romance status is a much smaller thing when seen in the context that there is more to being romanceable than being romanceable, yeah.

Region coding is a real-life analogy to the mage/templar issue.

Because it's just an example. And news flash, Chantry Sisters are above most of the men in Thedas. Calm down.

Chantry Sisters are the equivalent of Male-only priests in real life. Its closer to an authority figure than a merchant.

Taking over a templar operation as a fake Reverand Mother would be pretty cool.
