I just migrated to windows 7. Got all my files just not installed. Assuming they're not corrupted, any thoughts the game would pull files without a reinstall?

The very old games might work in new windows but Most of new games need to be reinstalled.

Also notice that Win 7 needs new drivers (motherboard, graphic etc.) and it uses new version of DirectX.

I think if someone doesn't connect to the internet and don't want to play new video games and run new programs, Windows XP is still fine for him to use... still it's sorta vegetable move!

Whenever I need to change the OS is a big scare. I have to worry about how many games I´ll be losing acess to. To this day I´m saddened by the loss of some old interplay games like star trek starfleet and klingon academy.

And the worse thing is: Due to disputes among the different companies involved, it´s unlikely the games will be fixed and released again by GOG  in the near future.

I don´t recommend having XP still installed on a partitioned HD, if the PC is connected to the internet. Unless you remember to always take it off-line whenever you use XP.

When Windows 7 was first released, I actually kept Windows XP on the old RAID volume and installed 7 on a new volume with new HDDs for my gaming PC.

Now all my computers are on either Windows 7 or 8, I just don't see any reasons to keep using XP at this point.

Did a clean install and moved my data. I just don't want to go through reinstalling and digging out my keys etc..
